Would a third request help?

Very cool! I second the requests to make engraved constructed walls match engraved smoothed natural walls!

It always bothered me that constructed walls look differently, so I really appreciate this mod.

I have one question: Even with this mod, engraved natural and engraved built walls still look different, would it be possible to make a version of this mod that makes them look exactly the same?

idk if my other mods are causing a conflict with this one, but currently any wall constructed out of rough blocks appears as a block wall, and doesn't just look like it but functions like it too (I can engrave it)

Currently constructed walls do not show engravings. Could you make it so that it shows pls?

I suppose a con to this would be that constructed walls on the topside/surface level will look like this too, which is a bit odd looking an aesthetic for a perimeter wall... But I'll install this anyways as it's worth it to make the underground walls look more tidy. I wish constructed block walls at least could look different in the future than the constructed non-block walls.

Isn't that how it is already? I don't do that myself, so I don't know what that looks like off the top of my head.

Does this also make engraved block walls look like engraved smooth stone?
Trainzack  [author] 13 Dec, 2022 @ 11:33am
@xavierbrown2536 I believe that constructed stone and constructed block walls use the same graphics, so you can't make them different from each other. I could be misremembering, however.

Do smooth walls (those constructed out of blocks), also look like smooth stone walls? Because I personally only want rough walls (those constructed out of raw stone) to look like this.

Looks like someone beat me to the punch, there's a smoothed look like constructed mod on the workshop now - but it also changes engraved ones to look like constructed, which I'm not sure about...will have to test.

Keep up the good work, @Trainzack ! What would DF be, if we didn't have to mod it for that complete experience :)
Trainzack  [author] 10 Dec, 2022 @ 3:09pm
@Urtist McSpaceminer I could, but I don't have time. However, you could make that mod! Feel free to use my mod as an example!
Urist McFrend 10 Dec, 2022 @ 1:14pm
@Trainzack Could you make a mod that does the reverse of this - making all smooth walls look like constructed ones? I tried your mod, but really missed the dwarfy masonry feel of the constructed ones - and I'm guessing I'm not alone. :)

@Gruz Not really. Rough block (boulder) walls and block walls look identical.
Trainzack  [author] 9 Dec, 2022 @ 11:11am
@Sanakan That is possible, but I don't have time right now. The way to do this is to create a new version of the wall graphics where none of the colors are any of the colors that DF recognizes as belonging to a palette. (You could do this easily by making every color 1 iota brighter or darker or something, so they're all slightly different colors). Then put up the supporting files so that walls use the new graphics.

could you make a mod that turns all smooth/engraved walls into the same color for people who can not handle the rainbow forts caused by all the different materials?
Gruz 8 Dec, 2022 @ 7:57pm
I believe if you use blocks to construct the wall it will be smooth as well!
Trainzack  [author] 8 Dec, 2022 @ 1:55pm
@Zippy Good point. I've updated the description.
Zippy 8 Dec, 2022 @ 1:53pm
I think this page should mention that, in both this game and the original, smoothing and engraving walls add to the fortress' value (which triggers raids and thief appearances). I'm not saying the mod is bad, but this could add some serious confusion to players who don't know which walls are jagged, smoothed and engraved. Unless there's something I'm missing.

This is doubtful

This is a nice mod. Is there a way to toggle it on and off? It would be a pain if you wanted to deconstruct the walls :demise:
