i've recently received a report from a DFHack user that in 51.12, DFHack + Interface Tweaks causes crashes in worldgen. 51.12 with DFHack but not Interface Tweaks, or with Interface Tweaks but not DFHack, does not crash for this user

the crash is in DF code not in DFHack code so it'll take me a while to get a more specific crash reason

Trying to load an old save, and it crash because it requires interface tweaks 1.3. Any place I could get it? Searched for that version but couldn't find anything.

@MichaelMan Possible, but kind of hacky. You have to go in and modify some of the game's files. Or possibly the save's files? I can't remember which.

@gRaveyard You should only subscribe to one. The ergonomic keybinding versions of this mod are the same thing as this, but the hotkey hints displayed on the buttons are different to match the ergonomic hotkeys, which have to be installed separately.

im having the same issue as shupliance with the game crashing on world creation on linux. im using the latest stable version and mod ver 1.6, tried forcing proton experimental but that moved the crash to world load and save.

Also, I won't update anything on Steam until after the update is out of Beta (otherwise this would cause issues with people who don't participate in the Beta). If I get an update done before the Beta is over, I'll release it on DFFD.

following up, generated a world with the mod activated via proton 8.0.2 without issue. i'm not sure what could actually be causing this, i'll investigate but for now at least i can use the mod!

this mod now causes a crash pre-world gen, specifically on "preparing graphics... vanilla music" or sometimes, on rare occasion, "preparing graphics... interface tweaks." as far as i know, all my game settings are default and i'm running without dfhack, on linux. it has been rendered impossible to use :(

Only 1.3 marked "installed" in the mod list, 1.6 is not active.

hi, many thanks for this excellent mod. I just copied my save games to a fresh HDD and it seems I had not updated the mod on my old HDD, it was running 1.3. On the new HDD it updated the game to 1.6, and now the mod doesn't work. As far as I can tell it thinks its running, but none of the tweaks show up in game. Does anyone know why this might have happened and how to fix it? Thanks.

@Jonathan When the ASCII view is enabled, the game does not load any of the graphics objects that this mod relies on. It is not possible to change the ASCII mode UI elements without a more invasive mod like DFHack. Assuming you really want the hotkey hints, I think it's possible to write a DFHack mod to insert those commands, though I don't really know the state of DFHack modding right now.

@Fuzzatron You do need to select this mod when you create a new world, and then this mod will be installed on that world. Do make sure it's below the base game UI mod in the load order (which it should be by default).

This is a super handy mod, but I do have one question: any chance of adding the icon hotkeys to classic ASCII mode, at least for the stuff under the build menu which doesn't have icons in ASCII?

I realised mods don't apply to already created worlds, I found another mod that gives instructions for applying (at least graphical) mods on existing worlds, and it worked for this mod and Better Play Pause Buttons: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2899671274

This is copy/pasting over vanilla graphics assets, so an update or file verification will probably overwrite it, but it's a good workaround for now.

@slimeform Linux uses a case-sensitive filesystem, while Windows does not. Someone told me that one of my file system references was in the wrong case and that was causing the crash. I've put a fix for that in version 1.5, so hopefully this issue is resolved.

This mod seems to be crashing the game on the linux-native beta. I've moved it around my load order and tried worldgen without it to make sure it only crashed when it gets to this one. I haven't been able to figure out why so far. I know it's a beta so i'm not complaining, just letting you know.

I've tried creating several worlds with this installed but it doesn't show up. I put it at the very end of the mod list and nothing happens. Is there a setting I'm missing here or do I need to remove one of the vanilla modules? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
