Thank you for clearing this up! I was thinking there was a universal glaze bar for which all the recipes were based off of. Now I know it just separated into very specific sections based on what i want to build.
Qev  [author] 13 Mar @ 11:50am
@Jarl44k The glaze-producing jobs don't have "bars" in the name, so it'll be eg. "Make amber ash glaze", and so on; there should be a submenu in the Kiln for "Make ceramic glaze" if things are working correctly. In the stockpile they'll appear as eg. "Amber ash glaze bars" and are stockpiled under metal bars.
Jarl44k 12 Mar @ 10:57pm
For some reason, 'Glaze bars' cannot be found any where in in either the Kiln/ Magma Kiln, or in the Work Orders menu or sub menu. I've tried this with and without other mods. The results are the same. Either I'm missing something, read your description wrong, or there is a bug here.
I cannot find the specific item 'Glaze bar'. But I've found 'Bismuth Glaze', 'Lead Glaze' and such. Could any one tell me what i'm missing here?
Hawkefire 27 Oct, 2024 @ 10:55am
Seconding Alora's request, being able to have some specificity would be wonderful, especially with things like bone clay being so valuable.
Alora 16 May, 2024 @ 3:58am
I don't know if it's possible to mod in, but being able to choose material types would be incredibly helpful with the wide number of glazes and clays out there
Bostson 15 Mar, 2024 @ 1:41pm
can you do a version that bone porcelain only is able to use kaolinite? since fire clay is free it's not balanced IMO
PunkRockVampire 6 Mar, 2024 @ 11:23am
Adding [IS_STONE] on bone porcelain clay works just fine for me. It's possible to enable it for use with masonry, but its use is disabled by default, like with kaolinite (and it's a similar material, so that makes sense to me).
Qev  [author] 5 Mar, 2024 @ 6:03pm
@Catwet12 I think I deliberately left out the [SOIL] and [IS_STONE] tokens to prevent bone porcelain clay soil layers showing up in worldgen (in the first case) and using the raw clay as stone in crafting (in the second case).
Catwet12 1 Mar, 2024 @ 10:57am
Per Плита, and a bit of poking around myself, you need to add either [stone] or [soil] to bone porcelain clay in its template so that it can be stored in a stockpile. i did this and now it works:

[INORGANIC:CE_BONE_PORCELAIN_CLAY] mixture of bone ash, kaolinite and orthoclase
[USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:SOIL_TEMPLATE]
[STATE_NAME_ADJ:ALL_SOLID:bone porcelain clay]
[DISPLAY_COLOR:7:0:1][TILE:178]
[STATE_COLOR:ALL_SOLID:WHITE]
[SOIL]
[SOLID_DENSITY:1210]
[MATERIAL_REACTION_PRODUCT:FIRED_MAT:INORGANIC:CE_CERAMIC_BONE_PORCELAIN]

This mod adds the reactions to both humans and dwarves, but if another mod is cutting and replacing them (which is what I suspect is what's going on) it'll depend on mod load order. Try moving Ceramics Expanded below the playable race mod in the load order.
NaudeyBoo 9 Nov, 2023 @ 5:54pm
Appears to be an issue where any non dwarf playable race doesn't have access to the glazes or extra items. Tested compatibility and it is limited to who you are playing as.
If there are other playable races in the world, dwarves still have access to the mod.
However, under the same circumstances other playable races cannot access its features.
Плита 12 Aug, 2023 @ 5:42am
I timely fix it by changing SOIL_TEMPLATE on STONE TEMPLATE, and game automatcly add option "bone porcelain clay" in economic stones in stockpile's settings
Плита 11 Aug, 2023 @ 7:43am
How can i fix that? without stockpile with bone porcelain clay i cant choose it between others clays.
Плита 10 Aug, 2023 @ 8:34am
Hello, I create a stockpile of bone porcelian stones by choosing translucent bone porcelian in settings of stockpile in non economic stone, but my dwarfs dont carry it there. why? I try to look at raws, but i cant find reason

(But this mod still one of my favorites)
Qev  [author] 9 Jul, 2023 @ 12:35am
Oh yeah, anything that replaces the Mountain entity after this loads is gonna cause problems. XD
gnrnr 8 Jul, 2023 @ 5:12am
Better instrument is the cause of the issues. Nanoro looks to have had the same mod installed given his experience was the same as my own. Better instruments was deleting the Mountain entity and changing a lot of stuff.
gnrnr 8 Jul, 2023 @ 2:50am
Got it working!!!. Had to move to the bottom of the list
gnrnr 8 Jul, 2023 @ 2:32am
WTH am i doing wrong? I have this mod loaded and my kilns no longer enable ANY ceramic production. I can make one instrument from another mod, but no bricks pots or anything else. i am sure it is a me issue. i have a couple of other mods loaded, but none that interefere with this one based on their reaction.txt files.

Is it a dwarf skilling issue or something else?
Qev  [author] 23 Apr, 2023 @ 5:19pm
Yeah, they'll do that. XD Probably a consequence of how I have the material type set up (glaze is kind of classified as a fake metal for stockpiling reasons).
The Fate of Ten Thousand Years 22 Apr, 2023 @ 10:11am
just had a strange mood wherein a blacksmith used a bar of lead glaze at a forge to make a chest.
Qev  [author] 2 Mar, 2023 @ 9:09pm
The "make salt glaze" reaction isn't generic: it makes bars of "salt glaze" from rock salt and nothing else. There's also a "make lead glaze" reaction that does the same, making "tan lead glaze" from just galena. Plain ash glaze is just ash bars, like vanilla.
jabuckyboo 2 Mar, 2023 @ 8:16pm
I noticed that I can create a generic glaze order for salt glaze, but not for ash or leaded glaze. Would you mind adding that functionality for the other two? I like the idea of having any type of glaze around 'automatically' because of a work order so that I can continue glazing. Thanks for all your hard work!
Qev  [author] 21 Feb, 2023 @ 7:09pm
Sounds like another mod is also making changes someplace; I'm guessing the Mountain entity is getting replaced. First thing to try is to move Ceramics Expanded to the bottom of your load order, see if that fixes things!
Nanoro 21 Feb, 2023 @ 3:34am
Hey - think I'm having a problem with this mod? It's the only one I have that affects kilns, and somehow it seems I can't make anything in them. There's just plainly no option to craft anything aside from clay ocarinas. Any clue as to what could be causing this? Clay's my go-to for pots and jugs, and I recently got a slinger mod that lets me make clay bullets, so the use of kilns is pretty essential for my play!
Qev  [author] 9 Feb, 2023 @ 12:11pm
Ash, bone ash, and bismuth are 5, Ash glazes are 7, Lead glazes 10-15, Salt glazes 7-10.
Leet Scoresby 8 Feb, 2023 @ 7:51am
What are the material multipliers of the various materials and glazes?
Qev  [author] 20 Jan, 2023 @ 9:27pm
@harper.buonanno Unfortunately, no; the job details option is unable to 'see' clay material types. :(
Halvarca 20 Jan, 2023 @ 12:03pm
Any way to choose a type of clay for crafting other than linked stockpiles?
neph 13 Jan, 2023 @ 6:07pm
Can you integrate this with/make it depend upon Mineral Powders? Would be nice to have that all working together.
Descan 10 Jan, 2023 @ 3:01pm
That's why I thought maybe relegate it to stoneware or something. But ceramic can be surprisingly tough, considering how fragile consumer grade ceramics seem, mugs and such.
Qev  [author] 10 Jan, 2023 @ 1:46pm
I was kind of astonished to find out stoneware pillows were a thing in Song Dynasty China.
DTA 9 Jan, 2023 @ 8:49pm
@Descan lmao, I'm not sure a ceramic bed would hold up to the stocky body of a Dwarf...
Qev  [author] 8 Jan, 2023 @ 5:01pm
I originally had ceramic beds in this mod (in 47.05) but left them out of this version for vague game-balance reasons. Easy enough to put them back, done. :)
Descan 8 Jan, 2023 @ 10:57am
There's at least one mod that adds stone and metal beds, using cloth as well (currently it doesn't replace the generic wooden bed, but that's in the works). Would having ceramic, or maybe stoneware or other sturdier ceramic, beds be possible as well?
DTA 7 Jan, 2023 @ 8:16pm
@Qev
No worries my friend, glad I could bring it to your attention!
Qev  [author] 7 Jan, 2023 @ 6:17pm
Oh I haven't seen that one yet. I'll have to take a peek and see what's what!
DTA 6 Jan, 2023 @ 2:14pm
Hi, this looks like an awesome mod! One question; are you planning on making this mod compatible with WintersKnight94's Mineral Powders and Glassworks mods? The thought of having access to the combined abilities of both mods brings inordinate joy
Qev  [author] 3 Jan, 2023 @ 1:59am
Yeah, I replaced the simple cassiterite boulder glaze with a white lead-tin glaze to vaguely approximate the IRL version. And also because using an entire boulder of cassiterite to glaze a mug was a little ridiculous. :)
Pet Mudstone 2 Jan, 2023 @ 4:13pm
I quickly checked the mod raws and you can't make tin glaze solely from cassiterite. However, there is a white tin glaze available that' can be made using galena and cassiterite.
Evaris 2 Jan, 2023 @ 1:25pm
Oh, another questions. is tin glaze still in the mod? Just noting that it's not listed with the other common glaze types listed in the mod descritpion, and I've yet to play with the mod.
Qev  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 11:24pm
Actually what the heck, fire clay can get on up in there too. :)
Qev  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 11:08pm
I can certainly add microcline into the reaction with little trouble; thank you for the idea! I kind of wanted to leave fire clay as its own thing as in vanilla DF to keep things fairly simple *nervously glances at the oxidation/reduction firing reactions on the drawing board* < <;
Evaris 1 Jan, 2023 @ 2:09pm
A bit of something I'd bring up as a suggestion, have you considered expanding the recipe for bone porcelain? Fire clays, which by definition have relatively high kaolin content in them, have been used historically in some bone porcelain recipes. In addition, any form of feldspar, not just orthoclase, should be able to be used for it - most notably microcline, which if I'm not mistaken, is chemically identical to orthoclase, and they're just in different crystaline states due to formation temperature. It was why I permitted both microcline and orthoclase be used to make porcelain with the Orichalcum mod back in the day.
Qev  [author] 28 Dec, 2022 @ 2:27pm
The clay refining was kind of an ugly kludge and would break compatibility with any other mod adding ceramic items. Also it didn't play nice with instrument parts. XD
Pet Mudstone 28 Dec, 2022 @ 1:04pm
Cool mod. Out of curiosity, why aren't the clay refining reactions from 47.xx in this version?
Qev  [author] 26 Dec, 2022 @ 2:23pm
@kifo Haha not really, though it really is a fascinating craft. I'm sure a real potter would throw things at me for my colour choices. :)
kifo 26 Dec, 2022 @ 1:16pm
Wow this is really detailed. You must be a potter!
Qev  [author] 21 Dec, 2022 @ 5:59pm
@KM.One Thanks for catching that! Just a harmless reference to a vanilla material that I didn't need to remove in the first place; fixed!
KM.One 21 Dec, 2022 @ 11:49am
I love the mod, I do get this error in my error log though. just letting you know.
