@Peni4, zeds are "activated" when you run, fire a weapon, or turn on a car engine.

@WifeTookMyDog, it will usually wear off if you stay for too long in the rain.

@Nippytime, thanks for taking the time to look under the hood, the calculations you see are indeed hardcoded to strike a balance between ‘feeling fair’ and still being a bit overpowered, it’s by design, i appreciate your feedback on the rounding math, and while I might fine-tune it in future updates, the current approach intentionally keeps camouflage potent yet straightforward to manage.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:06am
@PedroMcFly, i'm glad you’re enjoying the mod. :)

@jostave, the mod’s detection system is designed so that zombies really only ‘activate’ if you do something noticeable, like running, firing a weapon, or turning on a car engine, if you quietly move just outside their immediate detection range, they’ll often lose interest, it can feel a bit odd, but that’s the balance i went with to emphasize stealth and camouflage.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:06am
@TylerJ03, i like the way you think ^^ but unfortunately, i can’t currently separate which zombie specifically the mod should work for or ignore, maybe i’ll figure out a future update that differentiates sprinters from others, but no promises there, for now, it just works the way it is. ^^

@Siberian Frontier, well, we can’t 100% prevent bugs, especially in a multiplayer environment, i’m not saying you’re playing MP, but you should know that multiplayer always increases the chances of issues cropping up, in theory, the mod should attract zombies when you start a car, even if you’re fully camouflaged, it’s likely some quirk or conflict that’s letting you drive around unnoticed, but i’ll keep an eye on it for future fixes anyway.

@Peni4, your answer to @Siberian Frontier is spot on, this issue is a legacy from the original mod, however, I’ve done some workarounds in my version to minimize it, it’s still not fully removed, but thanks for your feedback.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:06am
@Dapper Man, i hear you, i did increase the duration so you don’t have to constantly reapply the disguise, however, if you walk around in the rain for 30 to 45 minutes, the effect wears off more quickly, plus, you can only butcher each zombie once for blood, so you’ll still need to keep looking for new ‘sources’ to maintain the camouflage.

@DefinitelyNotRipley, yes.

@Azazeal, Peni4 is correct, thats just how the zeds AI works.

@Peni4, your answer to @Azazeal is correct.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:06am
@Kallum666, you’re probably on the wrong mod page, this mod is designed to apply camouflage directly to the player character, rather than letting you carry guts around, if you mean carrying actual zombie bodies, you should still be able to do that, if you can’t, it’s likely due to another mod conflict or a Project Zomboid update that changed how bodies are handled.

@nuo, Haha, thanks for your comment, always happy to bring a little ‘Walking Dead’ vibe into Project Zomboid. <3

@Joux, thanks for the heads-up, i’ll look into optimizing that so it doesn’t tank your FPS, in the meantime, you could try stashing your ammo in containers instead of your main inventory to reduce the load, appreciate the bug report, thanks.

@{playername(-1)}, you're welcome. :)

@Bored and Tired Gamer, thank you for your feedback, i'm glad you liked it. :)
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:05am
@Kn1ghT, yes, this is a completely standalone mod, the original mod was unfortunately removed from the Steam Workshop, but you don’t need it to run this version.

@Azazeal, hey, no worries about the double post, i appreciate the elaboration, this mod mainly focuses on the camouflage mechanics and doesn’t delve too deeply into overhauling the core zombie vision range,if you’re looking to cut that sight radius in half by default, your best bet is still tweaking the vanilla Sandbox settings (Memory, Vision, Hearing, etc.), unfortunately, there aren’t many mods that specifically reduce default zombie vision without also changing a bunch of other AI elements, i might consider exploring it in the future, but for now i’m sticking to the camo system rather than rewriting how zombies detect players on a global scale.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:05am
@Dr Dingus, that sounds frustrating, in most cases, ‘invisible zombies’ issues are caused by conflicts with other mods, especially those that alter zombie visuals or animations, i’d recommend testing this mod on a clean setup (no other mods enabled) to see if the issue persists, if it goes away, then re-enable your other mods one by one to find the culprit, if it’s still happening even with no other mods, it could be a rare bug in your game install, verifying your files or reinstalling might help.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:04am
@QueenMystique, it’s most likely a mod conflict, also, note that modded weapons may not be recognized by this mod code, so even if they look like a valid knife or blade,, it might not trigger the option, in situations like this, always try disabling other mods or use a base game Bread Knife or Butter Knife to see if it works properly.

@Freddie Da Gamer, since Build 42 isn’t fully stable yet, and isn’t even properly playable in multiplayer, i’m keeping the mod maintained for Build 41 for now, once the final, stable Build 42 is out, i’ll either update this mod or create a separate Build 42 version from the ground up, but thanks the heads up.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:04am
@Yule, exactly, your answer to @Freddie Da Gamer is correct, Build 42 is still in development, and until it’s fully released (and stable for multiplayer), it’s not practical to switch over, i’ll update (or make a new version) once 42 is out for real.

@Minimay787, that sounds like a context menu glitch or a mod conflict, sometimes, after playing for a while, certain mods stop showing their right-click options, try completely exiting and reloading your save, or temporarily disabling other mods to see if that fixes it, if it still happens on a fresh game with no other mods, then it might be a bug in this mod, let me know and i’ll investigate further.

@yhok77777, Braven’s Camouflage mod is indeed awesome, if it works better for your setup, go for it, no hard feelings, whatever lets you enjoy the game the most, is the best choice for you. <3
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:04am
@Vulpix, the mod is designed so that each corpse can only be used once to prevent infinite camouflage farming, it’s partly for balance and partly for realism, if you keep harvesting the same body, camouflage would become trivial and even more overpowered.

@Peni4, its more like a balance consideration, as i mentioned to Vulpix, the mod only lets you harvest a corpse once so you can’t infinitely farm camouflage from the same body, but thanks for answering @Vulpix. :)

@HaydenAlmighty, i'm glad you like it, and it still works. :)

@Rhyster09, hey there, washing with a sink doesn’t immediately remove the camo but going out in the rain does, as for Sneaking and Lightfooted leveling up, as long as you stay constantly ‘sneaking around zombies’ you will gain exp in those skills, i know it feels too overpowered, but you can always adjust XP multipliers in your Sandbox settings or use another mod to cap skill gains.
Snake  [author] 27 Dec, 2024 @ 10:03am
@gondolop, that’s likely a UI conflict with Lifestyle Mod, both mods probably modify or add icons in the same HUD area, causing them to overlap, try adjusting your load order, sometimes changing your UI scale or resolution can also help reposition them.

@Rain, yes, thats the Workshop ID and Mod ID, but i honestly don't know whats your point.

@Mr.Dorito, since Build 42 isn’t fully stable yet and isn’t even properly playable in multiplayer, i’m keeping the mod maintained for Build 41 for now, once the final, stable Build 42 is out, i’ll either update this mod or create a separate Build 42 version from scratch, so in short, no, it doesn’t work on Build 42.

is this compatible with b42?

Rhyster09 25 Dec, 2023 @ 12:37pm
i like this mod but the problems im having are that when i wash myself with a sink and theres no blood what so ever they still see me as one and i have to wait for it to where off. Also i think its very OP that the sneaking and lightfooted go up when ur not doing anything really.
MightyChimp 25 Oct, 2023 @ 6:26pm
best mod ever. idk if it still works, but it was
Peni4 20 Oct, 2023 @ 8:15am
@Vulpix Most likely code limitations. Perhaps camouflage is considered something that the player "collects", and he cannot do it twice from the same item, as in farming, for example.
Vulpix 19 Oct, 2023 @ 10:51pm
why can't we get more blood from the same body?
yhok77777 8 Aug, 2023 @ 4:49pm
Braven made a up to date camo mod i used to use this one until it broke i suggest using bravens camo mod
TheGrecophile 6 Aug, 2023 @ 2:52pm
why does it not let me camouflage after like 1h, it starts normal and it lets me camouflage but after some time playing the option no longer shows up, does anyone know how to fic this? the only option that i found is starting a new game but then it hapens again
Yule 2 Jun, 2023 @ 5:59pm
@Freddie build 42 isnt even out and won't be out for a long time..
Freddie Da Gamer 3 May, 2023 @ 10:40am
The mod is broken. New Build 42 system made it obsolete. Could you possibly update the mod to the current system like all the other mods? The link to the new system is on the Indie Stone site

Thanks for looking into this matter

you're old pal

Can someone help me whoever I try to interact with the bodies it doesn’t give me the option to take the blood even tho I have right weapon to cut it with
Dr Dingus 10 Apr, 2023 @ 5:37pm
idk why but i keep getting bit out of nowhere, i dont know why this has been going on. usually i can see the zombies when i get bitten but i just get turned around and i get the bit animation, then i end up running into more invisible zombies, is there any way to fix this?
Azazeal 14 Mar, 2023 @ 7:38pm
Double post, sorry, feel the need to elaborate. I just like how this mod makes zombies not notice you when moving slowly unless you are close enough to "smell". It doesnt make sense to me that you can be over 20 tiles away and standing completely still, yet a zed can still tell you apart from his undead colleagues. Essentially i would just like for vanilla Zed sight radius to be halved while not running/sprinting.
Azazeal 14 Mar, 2023 @ 6:55pm
@Peni4 Yeah i realised that setting Memory to "None" achieves the effect i wanted. However Zombie sight range is still too good even with vision on "Poor". Since i havent seen any other mods that adjust zombie vision range the author/editor of this mod may be in a unique position to fix this since clearly they are already familiar with tweaking these mechanics
Tolgahinoo 13 Mar, 2023 @ 6:49am
Does this mod work without original mod?
Bored and Tired Gamer 10 Mar, 2023 @ 8:42am
Very useful and realistic mod.

Joux 8 Mar, 2023 @ 4:27am
I noticed a bug with your mod, when you have a lot of ammo in your pocket it reduces your fps down to 20. Hopefully you can fix this soon, great mod otherwise.

Kallum666 20 Feb, 2023 @ 2:48am
i miss the version of the mod that allowed you to gut zombies and carry the camo around
Peni4 18 Feb, 2023 @ 7:37am
@Azazeal If zombies notice you, they will chase you for a very, very long time... UNLESS you break "eye contact" by going behind a high fence or behind a house. Then the zombies will go "by inertia" to the place where they last saw you, and only then they will finally stop. It's just how the zombie AI in the game works.
Azazeal 17 Feb, 2023 @ 11:56pm
mate, any chance you can make that does some of this naturally? (without having to cover yourself in viscera) I personally feel like zombies just follow you too far and spot you too easily even with everything on "poor". I just want to be able to break a pursuit as soon as i have broken the line of sight, but zeds just seem to magically know where you are until you get a certain distance from them or something. That and i think the sight detection radius ought to be at least halved unless you are running or sprinting.
DefinitelyNotRipley 15 Feb, 2023 @ 3:19am
Is this multiplayer compatible?
Dapper Man 10 Feb, 2023 @ 9:02pm
The disguise should decay after a few days or a month, just to make it not really overpowered
Peni4 1 Feb, 2023 @ 2:46am
@Siberian Frontier This is a "legacy" from the original mod, which for some reason simply cannot be removed due to the peculiarities of the mechanics. So whether to use this "feature" or not remains only on the conscience of the players themselves
Siberian Frontier 31 Jan, 2023 @ 1:18pm
If you are fully camouflaged and drive car they don't notice you. anyone else got that bug?
TylerJ03 30 Jan, 2023 @ 3:16pm
just leave the sprinting bug be, there are sprinter zeds anyway so theyll think youre just one of them.
jostave 15 Jan, 2023 @ 9:08am
This version is really weird. If you get close to the zombies, they will notice you, but if you just walk 1 foot away from them, they will just forget you exist.
PedroMcFly 14 Jan, 2023 @ 6:50pm
Muy buen mod me recuerda cuando descuartizaba humanos
Nippytime 28 Dec, 2022 @ 1:43pm
I am trying to work out the math but i feel like the rounding math being used in the Utils is not ideal. i feel that the way it's being used makes it round too sharply and considering the moodle levels the math is drastically reducing as the moodle level diminishes. the calcs in this mod seem super out there but love it still.
Elixir 23 Dec, 2022 @ 1:24pm
Not finding it in the description, but is it possible to wash off the camouflage when you would normally wash your character from being dirty n such?? I tried it when I had the "probably take a bath" level and I just assumed thats what I needed to do, but it didnt go away.
Peni4 22 Dec, 2022 @ 9:14am
This new update is funny. It seems that now I don't have to duck for the camouflage to work! It's even funny: I'm standing in front of a zombie, he doesn't move. I take a few steps in different directions - the zombie ignores me. I make a small jerk, "running" literally half a meter - the zombie "notices" me, takes a few steps .... and stops, because I don't move anymore. I "run" half a meter again and stop - the zombie takes a few steps towards me and stops again. It's fun!
Snake  [author] 21 Dec, 2022 @ 6:55am
@Peni4, yeah, sounds like, also i have updated the mod, try unsbuscribe and subscribe again anyway.
