Quick update I am actually sitting on a sprite for this right now so if you want I can send it to you

I'm pretty sure it's fine to edit the vanilla sprites for the purposes of modding, I've seen several other mods do it with no issues.

On that note I'm a pretty good pixel artist myself but don't understand how to define sprites, especially not in this format- so I'd be willing to make sprites for this if you want? Could make recolors for the metal castes too

Every non-procedural metal has a dragon, yes. This can't automatically create them or anything, so only vanilla metals are included.

So can there be any kind of metal dragon? (And do mod added materials get their own dragons?)

I'm not much of a pixel artist, lol. I'd rather avoid any trouble from editing and redistributing the vanilla tileset files, since that's under copyright protection. Maybe I'll figure out how to define my own graphics files some day
