Hm, my dwarves got attacked by an army of invisible somethings that turned into moons when caught in cage traps. Turns out broken sprites make combat a little harder than anticipated ^^'
Is this a common bug?

Idk if this is an intended mechanic or bug of the mod, but for whatever reason my dwarves will not use any other stone types to make furniture or crafts, it says they need a non-economic hard stone type but the only rock that is a non-economic hard stone type is slate?

Wth is going on? Do I have to like cut the stones into blocks first before I can use them to make anything?

Do you mean the new monsters I've made for vanilla DF recently? I honestly didn't test if they work with Genesis, good call. I will check it out this weekend, thank you Zeyon.

The mod clearly states that no vanilla files should be loaded, but the standalone monster submods need vanilla materials/bodyparts to function
What should I do?

So the main "problem" that the mod has is that it doesn't have new fancy portrait graphics.

I may get to it later, for now it will just show the creature sprite instead of the portrait.

I will focus on porting old Genesis creatures one by one, you can already see a few in my profile. Once the creatures are added, I will revisit the fancy side of races (portraits).

Hello guys, i am back after a long hiatus and I plan to look into adventure mode modding, as well as finishing some of my creatures that have art but no code.

I've checked and my mod still works fine.

For those who had trouble generating the world, please make sure that the mod is the only one running (all VANILLA files need to be disabled too!), check the first screenshot.
The most common reason of potential problems for you would be the fact that this cannot run with other mods or vanilla.

I cannot get dwarfs to spawn at all. even with no mods other than this one they are super rare. Is it possible to get a standalone for separate parts of this mod? namely the human civs, I really want to use this mod but I want dwarfs in dwarf fortress :(

"You can have glass cabinets" What is this part of the description referring to? Glass cabinets, the things dwarves keep clothes in, can be made from glass in the base game. Does this mod introduce a different type of cabinet?

Oh yes, hunters seem to reserve some ammunition in stocks for themselves, which then becomes unuzable by the military. If you have any hunters, make even more bolts, I guess.

Ammo allocation is still janky even with unification of projectiles in this mod but it can be worked around it seems. What works for me is:

a) Assign an archer squad a uniform (default or custom made) and NEVER make any changes to it. None of the marksdwarves can be " Custom", no changes at all. If you absolutely have to make some, then recreate the whole squad after changing the uniform and saving it and then again, assign it to the whole squad and NEVER customize individual soldiers.

b) Make more bolts. Dwarves sometimes refuse to pick up old ammo, so keeping a good stock of fresh ammo is helpful. Also, no bins in ammo stockpiles.

c) Have your ammo stockpiles inside the barracks where archer squads are assigned to keep squad equipment (the fourth option in the barracks settings).

That's it, I got 12 marksdwarves in 2 ranger squads right now, everyone seems to be picking up new ammo reliably for as long as I keep a sizeable stock of it.

Hello I would like to request help with a problem of mine. You see, I have heaps upon heaps of cast iron but when try to convert it into wrought iron at a forge I am unable to find the option to do so. Trying to use the orders menu also doesn't work, even searching for the word wrought on there brings up nothing but blanks.

Yes, I have quite a bit of content in the works, but I am waiting for them to fix the ranged ammo allocation issue, as it really makes impossible to rely on many modded weapons that I planned to introduce.

It's a total conversion, so hopefully on its own :). It replaces all vanilla files. If you have mods that are compatible, they should go after.

yeah, this update is pretty buggy (df's, not yours). I'm excited for all the changes putnam is rumored to be putting through, re: optimization, bug fixes, etc. putnam seems really good at their job

The bolts were replaced by arrows to combat vanilla bug with ammo.

And if your dwarves don't equip quivers, it's the same bug as in vanilla sadly.

Having 1 type of ammo is better than 2, but still sometimes this bug fires.
I personally wait to start playing as soon as they add back ability to assign ammo to squads.

Since this is just a text editor mod at the moment, yes it is compatible with DFHack.

However it has no special DFHack-enabled mod-specific features yet.

Holy plump helmets, it looks like the mod was sitting without description since the last update on 14..01.2023. When you update a mod, it takes description from TXT file and overrides the one set in Workshop. I greatly apologize for that, time to find where I saved my description.

There's no bismuth bronze, so I assume you have some mods that reintroduce it and cause errors, @Runnybabbit.

@Redempter There's an old wiki but I haven't decided to update it yet since not all features of the old version are in. Also I just realised that the description is messed up! It must have been my latest update, where Steam deleted the description.

looking like some errors recognising bismuth bronze as well as some issues/conflicts from other mods I assumed were stable. Pretty new to DF mods so may have jumped the gun pointing the finger in retrospect. :]

Yeah, I've been playing with my mod extensively myself, no problems.

Could you check your errorlog.txt, Runnybabbit, and post it on pastebin? There's a chance you had another mod or leftovers of another mod, that messed your saves up.

I spent almost 200 hours in this mod, I don't have that. There is an occasional crash (likely vanilla problems) but no corruptions. Are you sure it's not a conflict with another mod?

Super cool port, getting issues with save file corruption tho... stone layers changing between reloads (bye bye flux stone :'[ ). Last session failed to save completely, 3 hours of auto-saves and manual saves completely gone. Will check back in once stability issues are sorted.

I really hope you are able to find a set that you like, and are not forced to wait in an endless loop of "timeframes" for delivery.

Coming out of the madness of the Covid-19 scares, we should hopefully be seeing somewhat of a return to normalcy to deliveries. However- be wary of promises concerning time.
