aadzo41's link is indeed a good workaround. If you have trouble with YouTube like I do sometimes, here's a quick text version.

Go to steamapps > workshop > content > 976730 > 2903354457 and edit ModInfo.json with a text editor. Under the "MaxAppVersion" section, change "Minor" from 3385 to 3495, the current version. Save it and you're good to go.

Works great, only problem is using anything other than "Sprint" put the camera immediately behind the spartan, making aiming impossible. Other than that it works great. Might just be something on my end.
