Maybe you could divide the beds into made beds and unmade beds so you can still make beds if you are missing cloth?
justin.fitzgibbon 26 Jan @ 1:24pm
People do realize that they are fine sleeping on the floor as long as it is smoothed right?

Neat idea but the cloth aspect makes your embark super cloth heavy or all your dwarves go mental and kill each other because they are sleeping on the floor
Laikins 22 Jul, 2023 @ 2:54pm
any Glass Beds?
Amelio 22 Jun, 2023 @ 1:49pm
plan on including leather and raw wool (adamantine, why not?) as an alternative to cloth for making beds?
Amelio 22 Jun, 2023 @ 1:28pm
damn, good job, best bed mod so far
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 28 Mar, 2023 @ 2:33pm
stone and stone block beds are made at a stoneworkers workshop,
wooden beds are made at carpenter,
metal beds are made at a metalsmith,
cloth sleeping bags are made at a clothiers workshop,
leather bedrolls are made at a leatherworker
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 28 Mar, 2023 @ 12:23pm
Yea sorry, I do plan to continue to maintain all of my mods, but unfortunately ive been dealing with stuff IRL lately. hopefully all of my mods will see updates soon! ^_^
jabuckyboo 2 Mar, 2023 @ 8:14pm
I noticed that ordinary beds don't require sheets. Is that intended? Nevermind, I saw the "current issues / bugs." Curious if you have plans to continue working on that?
Frewfrux 11 Feb, 2023 @ 11:46am
I've discovered the minor conflict: when I install the "Alterations" mod before this one, then the rock bed no longer requires cloth, but if I install Alterations *after* this one, the rock bed once again requires cloth. Just letting you know.
Frewfrux 11 Feb, 2023 @ 11:26am
I can, partly, confirm what @Valorel reported. I tested with 15 tanned hides and the bedroll option in the leather workshop still said I needed tanned hides. Also, I've found that there appears to be a minor conflict with one of my other mods that seems to make the stone beds not require cloth. I'm still looking into that last one.
DTA 8 Feb, 2023 @ 7:17pm
I'll look into this
Valorel 4 Feb, 2023 @ 5:28am
Apparently bedrolls are made in the leatherworks, but they ask for 1000 tanned hides? I suspect this is a bug.
Valorel 1 Feb, 2023 @ 1:06am
How do I make bedrolls? I thought it would be the clothiers shop but no option there. Thanks for the mod!
DTA 17 Jan, 2023 @ 8:36pm
@Frewfrux Interesting. I'll experiment with this
Frewfrux 14 Jan, 2023 @ 9:46pm
@WintersKnight94 I got it to work by placing it at the bottom of my list of mods so it would be the last one loaded. No idea which one it was conflicting with, though. Maybe Real Alloys? I see @Bumblebed had a similar issue, but I don't use the Better Instruments mod that they did, so I'm not sure. Let me know if you want me to test anything out for you.
Frewfrux 14 Jan, 2023 @ 7:50pm
@WintersKnight94
I'm not seeing any new reactions either. Where are they supposed to show up? I've checked the stoneworker's, leatherworker's, carpenter's, crafting, and clothier's workshops. I can see the regular bed option in the carpenter's workshop, but that's it.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 10 Jan, 2023 @ 12:42pm
@Bumblebed
Not sure what would cause that, I haven't looked at the better instruments mod.
But it's resolved by putting this mod below Better Instruments in the mod list then it's not a major issue. Might not even be an issue at all.
Bumblebed 8 Jan, 2023 @ 4:55pm
It appears that this mod interferes with the Better Instruments mod . The other mod functions correctly, but this one doesn't have the new reactions show up. This is fixed by putting Locigal Beds below Better Instruments in the mod list.

I'm pretty new to DF mods so I'm not sure if it's something that can, or needs to be resolved, bt I thought I'd at least mention it in case anyone has the same issue that I had.
DTA 6 Jan, 2023 @ 2:01pm
@Breven Docent
It is worth noting that the bug only affects wooden beds, so if you wanted to, you could simply play without wooden beds. It is cheat-y, but I wouldn't say it changes the intended experience significantly.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 6 Jan, 2023 @ 12:30pm
once he gets me the main patch ill maintain it from there
so no worries on that front
DTA 4 Jan, 2023 @ 8:27pm
@Breven Docent
Yeah I know right? A concept many of us have been lusting after for quite some time!
FYI, I am a notoriously slow worker so don't expect any patches (from me) in the super duper near future
Ace McNasty 4 Jan, 2023 @ 7:08pm
I'm definitely going to be trying this out once you add the other features and fix the bug, this is an excellent idea!
DTA 3 Jan, 2023 @ 11:59pm
@WintersKnight94
nice! I'll try and implement that. Best of luck with NodeCore, and I really appreciate all your aid
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 3 Jan, 2023 @ 9:05pm
havent actually coded the fix yet if you still wanna do it. im trying to maintain over a dozen DF mods and im a content/mod creator and primary texture creator for a game called NodeCore, so ive got a lot of code im working on at once for a variety of projects. if you still want to send me a fix for this mod ill still credit you like our original deal.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 3 Jan, 2023 @ 9:03pm
@DTA
There are two patching functions: SELECT and CUT. When SELECT is used, it lets you make changes to an object without needing the entire entry to be present in your mod file. When CUT is used, it forces the game to not use that object, even though it is still found in the vanilla raws. Both of these functions take the form of tokens. These functions are not universally applicable to any token found in any entry, just the following list of objects:

CREATURE, ENTITY, INTERACTION, ITEM, WORD, TRANSLATION, SYMBOL, INORGANIC, PLANT, MUSIC, REACTION, SOUND
DTA 3 Jan, 2023 @ 12:39am
(definitely aware that a reaction and a property are two different beasts, but figured I'd ask, since you absolutely know more than me)
DTA 3 Jan, 2023 @ 12:34am
actually, that fix may be of some interest to me. I'm trying to make a mod that changes some properties of the vanilla stones. If my thinking is correct, simply placing the mod above vanilla_materials upon worldgen should do the trick?
DTA 2 Jan, 2023 @ 11:59pm
Hell yeah dude, glad you were able to figure it out. What was the solution?
Also yep, that makes sense.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 2 Jan, 2023 @ 11:45am
Actually I think I might have figured it out.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:46pm
it would be better to find a way to patch or override the reaction.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:45pm
and unfortunately i cant forbid the default 'make bed' action without redundantly reworking A BUNCH of vanilla assets.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 8:44pm
its a local ID that doesnt mean anything beyond my custom reactions. its just called padding to be descriptive, i could have just as easily called it 'REAGENT:A:' instead
DTA 1 Jan, 2023 @ 7:06pm
*quick question I have about the patched bed reagents: what is "padding"? I assume it means what it says on the tin, but can't seem to find any other instances of that reagent in the raws.
DTA 1 Jan, 2023 @ 7:02pm
@WintersKnight94
Nice, sounds like a deal. Yes, I noticed that issue when I ran a fort with this mod. I've already thought of a couple ideas, none of which have been tested yet. Are you comfortable with renaming your new bed recipe as 'comfortable bed'?. It may be possible to then forbid the action 'make bed' for all mountains and workshops and permit the action 'make comfortable bed'.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 3:34pm
@DTA
Actually, I have a counter-proposal. I'm glad you enjoy the mod, but instead of making a new mod based on parts of this one;
I am having one problem and it's one you have or will run into with yours. I'm having a bit of trouble patching/replacing the vanilla recipe for wooden beds with one that includes cloth. Since I gather you have looked at the code for this mod (which is totally fine, btw, most of us DF modders share code pretty freely as long as credit is given, and i've met a few who dont even care about that.) You probably have seen that I have appropriate amounts of cloth in the reactions. If you can produce a fix for that, I'll credit you in the description with a link directly to your workshop page. :)
What do you think of this idea?
DTA 31 Dec, 2022 @ 5:53pm
@WintersKnight94
Hey, I really enjoy this mod.
I was just wondering if (with attribution to your mod of course), I could incorporate elements from this mod's files into one I'm working on that includes cloth in the reagents for beds? The aim of the mod is to essentially do what you're doing, but only with metal and wood, plus some additions and tweaks.

If you feel this is best discussed elsewhere, please let me know!
Thank you :D
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 30 Dec, 2022 @ 6:21am
@Brygun funny enough, its currently kindof like that anyhow since im still trying to figure out how to override a vanilla reaction.
Brygun 28 Dec, 2022 @ 4:16pm
Just seeing this and havent tried it. Be good to have a low value version that doesnt need cloth and call it something like "bed shelf" vs a proper bed with a blanket (which needs cloth).
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 27 Dec, 2022 @ 3:38pm
yea im still trying to figure out how to add cloth to the wooden bed recipe. the way i was trying to do it didnt work.
Xeno 27 Dec, 2022 @ 9:08am
It seem that you haven't change the recipe of wood beds.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 24 Dec, 2022 @ 6:09am
bedroll sprites are on my todo list, but with the holidays i havent gotten to it yet
pete8719 23 Dec, 2022 @ 3:18am
Based Knight, thank you. I really like the, well, logic behind the mod. I wish I knew spriting so I could help you introduce proper bedroll images, etc, lol.
Yerbatrix 22 Dec, 2022 @ 9:37pm
It would be outrageously fabtastic if there will be matresses to make. For example in clothier workshop. And to make bed you also need matress, not just cloth xD
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 22 Dec, 2022 @ 7:15pm
hmm, yeah, you're right, the normal wooden beds dont require the cloth. an oversight on my part, i guess. ill fix it as soon as i can. might be after christmas though.
pete8719 22 Dec, 2022 @ 4:09pm
Looks like wood beds don't require cloth. Stone and metal do.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 19 Dec, 2022 @ 6:41pm
Glad you like the mod though. I'll do what I can and make improvements as I get better at modding DF.
Wyntr Stardust  [author] 19 Dec, 2022 @ 6:41pm
That is a bit beyond the scope of what i know how to do. I'm still trying to figure out how to move the 'make metal bed' task into the furniture category.
DepressedRacoon 19 Dec, 2022 @ 2:22pm
Worked great with my trial run- is it possible to get information added to the manager screen to let you select which cloth is desired? I was running a huge surplus of pig tail cloth, so forbade all other cloth (in case of a mood), but if I could queue up "10 wooden beds with pig tail cloth, while >15 pig tail cloth, >20 logs, < 15 beds" that'd be ideal.
