I wish you luck tsallast! I'm glad you're still keeping up with things.
There are Nillians going around bald despite having "extremely long hair!"
This is because creatures hair grows continuously through their lives, and as Nillians are ageless, theirs will go far beyond the parameters set in the graphics_creatures_nillian.txt
It is easy to fix though. Simply removing the TISSUE_MAX_LENGTH parameter from the Hair 13 categories (there should be six) will apply the final Hair graphic to all Nillians sporting hair longer than 275.
Usually I am playing Kobolds, so I just try to horde books from Necromancer towers (it never ends well).
But I suppose these elf boys can also... Write the books :O
I think they're neat so I like having them in my world, but I don't know what I would want to do with a Nillian fort. Has anyone got up to anything neat? c:
Yep! Unsure on how long it'll take, but I absolutely intend to get 'em some portraits.
I originally got into DF specifically for Adventure Mode, and made the Nillians intending to play as one in AM once it came out.
They should work on it out of the box btw! Just no portraits yet.
Thanks!
Still loving the mod btw.
@Fake Antivirus Could you try loading in a new world w/out Cooler World Names added to it? Best guess is its overriding the language files to add in different keywords
@Realm Imp inherent property of all librarians
My gut instinct is that this is something to do with their relationship propensity, I'll look into it soon-ish.
Nice to hear you liked the bookcases :DD
The end result is that they all start to obsess over how lonely they are around the 5-10 year mark, and it really tanks their moods. My little nerds are constantly getting hammered by loneliness, apart from the tiny handful that managed to hook up or migrate with a spouse.
(Love those bookshelves though, fantastic addition.)
Can't let them die.
Please fix. :P
Im sure it will be a great update for a a great mod. There is a lot of love put into this.
Not a lot of people have asked about it, so no worries!
I'll be lowering the marriage chance in the next update, but it may take a bit since I want to jam in a couple cool new features / changes with it.
Mountain halls are cool! I still have to toy around with it, and I may end up going for them settling near rivers mainly, but we'll see.
Thanks for the help again!!
Side note, I also found out how to get Nillians to build mountain halls
[START_BIOME:MOUNTAIN]
[SETTLEMENT_BIOME:ANY_FOREST]
[SETTLEMENT_BIOME:MOUNTAIN]
[SETTLEMENT_BIOME:ANY_GRASSLAND]
[SETTLEMENT_BIOME:ANY_SAVANNA]
[SETTLEMENT_BIOME:ANY_SHRUBLAND]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:ANY_FOREST:1]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:MOUNTAIN:3]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:ANY_GRASSLAND:1]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:ANY_SAVANNA:1]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:ANY_SHRUBLAND:1]
[BIOME_SUPPORT:ANY_RIVER:1]
These modifications mean they stick close to mountains and this results in mountain halls. Really cool in my book.
It's not directly intended, and I'm going to be doing some testing for it. I believe that it's because they're VERY likely to marry when they get into romances, compared to other races. Therefore they have more kids, therefore there are more nillians roaming about.
If that's the cause for it, then I'll be lowering their marriage chance, since that isn't intentional.
If it's because their skill learning rate is high, then I'm OK with that unless it bothers people a lot, IMO it makes sense that the dominant civilizations would be ones that prioritize knowledge and learning.
I did want to note that it seems like the Nillians tend to kick ass during worldgen-outnumbering most other species. I don't know if this is intended, but I thought I should mention it!
Thanks for bringing it up!
So really it'd be more up to you, if you settle somewhere that's close to nillians but far away from dwarves (or try and generate a world with no dwarves), then you should be getting a nillian caravan yearly, and no dwarven one.
I really like your idea for crafting foreign gear! I'll be looking into adding them into the next update. Thus far I was going to look into giving them large bookcases. Your idea sounds faster to implement so I'll probably give it a go first :D
