its a bayonet and at that i believe its the m9 bayonet that one can throw up by the muzzle of an ar platform rifle... so yeah

this specific 3D model including the skin files call this a bayonet^^.
Not to mention that the glowing hole obviouslike make it 1 .

But in the in game hud at the 3 slot it specifically says knife, maybe im wrong but there are no bayonets or even is there a mention of the word bayonet in Insurgency.

the hole in the handgrip that allows a barrel to slide through is what makes it a bayonet instead of a knife.

no bayonets aren't' just knifes. it's usualy designed 2 fit on the barrle of 1 specific type of rifle, so it's a bayonet even when detached.
Also it's the name the dev's gave 2 this model i didn't chose that part of the name^^ .

Wouldnt it become a bayonet when at the moment is attached to the barrel instead of the user just holding it and it being a knife.

that's what a bayonet is. it's a knife you can mount on the front of your barrel.
