First, unzip your vpk file, and then put them into a folder.

And, "La Chancla" is "人字拖" or "拖鞋" in Chinese.
You can decide which one to use depending on the length of the words you need.

As for the kill icon, maybe you can check HL2MP.ttf.
In my language the natural death (RIP icon) would display an N letter. After I changed the HL2MP.ttf, everything went normally.

just click on that green subscibe button. it might be not loaded during the first game, it happens sometimes but then simply restart your game and it should be good :)
