Does this not work anymore? I'm not seeing an option to create these weapons.

I do not see any graphics, am I having a conflicting issue. I read bellow that graphics are implemented, I currently only see a tan-yellow square but so far I am loving the mod.

Bows and Crossbows require Quivers to be worn and filled with ammo in order to be used. I presume this is also the case for your firearms?

1. You make them in the bowyer's shop out of wood, and in the metalsmith's shop out of metal. It's where you make crossbows. I forget if bullets are the same thing.
2. Best I can do is single shot weapons. I have made a single shot ak47 before, but I figured that was beyond the scope of this mod.
3. Probably, I'm not testing it. If you run into problems, tell me, and I'll fix it.

I might make a coin gun in the future, but I'm busy now. Pretty sure that you'd have to make an object that's exactly the same as coins, and as said, you can only do single shot weapons.

This baby weighs one hundred fifty kilograms and fires two hundred dollar, custom-tooled cartridges at ten thousand rounds per minute. It costs four hundred thousand dollars to fire this weapon... for twelve seconds. And the best part is some of the coins can be reused as the land near their dead enemies. Talk about a way to save money!

Yeah, it most likely does, There are some graphics for the items, and nobody has mentioned any problems, so I'm happy with it as it is. It honestly needs to be worked on a bit more though. I'll get to it when I get to it.

I don't think elves should use Firearms, feels very unelfy, after all it's at least slightly higher tech, it uses metal, and it makes a loud noise. Give them an Air Gun if anything, it's quite, can be made of wood maybe, and it doesn't require any of those fancy materials. Goblin gun should be like a poison dart gun or something.

Honestly, when Toady redoes ranged weapons in DF, I'll make all sorts of interesting weapons. Until then I've done everything I can without DF hack other than graphics for every weapon and more weapons. I'm supposed to make a pistol for the goblins, but I've been putting it off. If anyone suggests a type of gun for the elves, that'd be nice.

Known bug in DF, I recommend only using one type of ranged weapon.

That's probably my problem. When I assign a dwarf a musket they only grab bullets and not musket balls. Is there any way to solve this? I want my dwarf squad to be a mix of muskets and long rifles, is this even possible without any problems?

You have the right ammo for your gun right? musket ball goes with musket, bullet goes with rifle, cannon ball goes with cannon, and slug goes with slugthrower. Otherwise, it is know behavior for dwarves with ranged weapons to charge iinto melee.

Oh, you're trying to do other mods. That makes sense. This does change your vanilla entity file. I will update it with the fix shortly.

I figured out what the problem was. After playing with the raws and files, I got it to work. Instead of making the file entity_default, it needs to be entity_patch_(whatever) for both the file name and inside the file. Within the file, change [ENITY:MOUNTAIN] to [SELECT_ENTITY:MOUNTAIN] and do the same with humans. The mod works perfectly for me after that, and it doesn't even ned any special load order!

I suppose this was because since it was trying to define an entity_default, it conflicted with the vanilla entity_default, so it tossed out the mod and used vanilla instead of appending ENTITY:MOUNTAIN, and since the loading screwed up with it, that's why it caused other mods to break.

Nope, tried making a new world with nothing but the mod installed above entities. Bullets and guns appeared neither in the workshops nor work order menu

I hate to leave you without any solutions. Try ordering iron bullets from the o menu in a game where you can create guns.

I'll double check everything, but the way dwarf fortress works is that all modded weapons show up in your metal-smith forge or whatever it's called regardless of whether you give them a reaction or not. I'd make a reaction for guns that takes 1 metal and 1 wood, but then you'd have two reactions creating guns, where one is objectively better than the other.

Again, I'll check, but the guns and bullets should work. Also bullets are made in the craftdwarf's workshop out of wood.

I've never had a problem making guns with this You need to load it above entities, I believe.

Ive dug a bit deeper in the raws. It seems that the reason the guns and ammo aren't forgeable is because there isnt a reaction to make them. Mods like Dwarf weapons full access just assigned the weapons to the dwarves, but it used already existing weapons instead of modded ones, so the reactions to make them already existed in the source code, the dwarves were just unable to make them. Blast powder, for example, makes a reaction for its new weapons and ammo, in addition to assigning them to the dwarves, and it seems to work just fine.

Hey, I'm not sure if there's something wrong with what I'm doing or if there's something wrong with the mod, but the mod doesn't seem to be working properly. It won't load at all no matter where I put it in the load order. Other mods like it, such as dwarven weapons full access, work fine, but if it's put above vanilla entities then no mods work. The one time I was able to get it to work somewhat was when I had a bunch of other unrelated mods in with it, but even then I could make the guns, but no bullets.

I don't know about the ammo bug, but yeah probably, if there is such a thing. These are basically crossbows with the physics of guns. Or as an alternative comparison, the crossbows are pretty much guns that fire bricks at low velocity.

Also the value of ammo is automatically generated. I don't think I can change it, but I might test some things.

Heads up, I don't know if this is something with Bolts as well but I'm noticing masterwork wooden musket ball 25 stacks are valued at 1000 each stack. Can be a bit cheesy for trading!

Skills are hardcoded. I believe with DF hack you can rename skills, but I don't use DF hack for my mods.

Does this currently piggyback off crossbow skill, or does it have a bespoke skill of its own? Will definitely give this a try next worldgen
