Okay I figured it out, was a Harmony problem. While I'm here though I'm just gonna drop this for the people who've asked, if you want to put the pawn's name in the backstory, use the tag [PAWN_nameDef] exactly like that with the brackets in the text. [PAWN_pronoun] = he/she (automatically chooses appropriate gender) [PAWN_objective] = him/her [PAWN_possessive] = his/her. Have fun y'all

Hi there, running this in 1.6 with only Ideology active plus this mod and some trait mods. I can no longer see the button to edit backstories on the main menu screen. However, all the backgrounds I previously made are still in the game and apply to randomized pawns. Any idea what could be causing the button to vanish?

hey i got a question cybranian is it normal for 1.6 unstable to show a lot of red errors in the debug log, i mean this is just a test update right will more mods be compatible when 1.6/odyssey comes out?

It conflicts with Character Editor after the latest updated,I can't change pawn's backstory in CE while I enable this mod.

For those who can not add traits to custom backstory:

1. Download Rimpy or Rimsort and use it manage your mods (Optional but i recommend)
1. 下载 Rimpy 或 Rimsort 并用它管理你的模组(可选,但我建议)

2. Load all trait mods and the backstory constructor
2. 加载所有添加特性的模组和背景故事构造器

3. Make the backstory with the traits you want
3. 用你想要的特征来制作背景故事

4. Restart game and then load other mods

Traits cannot be added to the backstory. Seems to be a common problem. Can the dev fix this?

This mod interferes with a lot of quests when it can't generate a pawn. I couldn't use the duplicating obelisk or have the unnatural corpse delivered in particular. I used this in the past without noticing any issues so it may be a mod conflict.

For anyone else having backstory errors what I did was changed the custom backstories of any pawns I had in my colony with pawn editor. Then I removed the mod and it threw a one-time error for some other faction pawns off map but it rerolled new stories for them.

this mod causing some specific pawn generating error when work with other mod. technically, i cant even generate aya's race by devmode.after giving errorlog to deepseek, says it is conflicted when generating backstory, and it turns out this mod is the reason.would it be a bug to fix?

What an incredible mod! Thank you so much.

To anyone who is having trouble getting it to work: 1. to enter a negative number for skills, enter the number, and THEN the - sign. 2. remember to set a pawn body type, age group, and "cultural" origin (tribal, colonist, pirate, etc.) for each background 3. remember that you have to save and restart the game to see the new backgrounds in the game.

Doing all this, the backgrounds I make show up in the game just as I design them with no issues so far.

Is there a way to link childhood and adulthood backstories, similar to the custom/backer characters?

Here's how:
> Add this mod into your game then restart.
> Open the game again and in the main menu you should see the "Make Backstory" button.
v If not then you might have RimThemes installed and should change the theme to one that shows the "Make Backstory" button.
> Play around with it get your backstories created and save your changes.
> Then restart the game and your backstories should be usable.

I cant find my backstories in pawn editor. I saved them, restarted the game, and still they're not on the list. Where I can find my backstories?

I'm having a UI issue where I can't add forced traits. I press the +-button, but nothing happens.
Everything else seems to work.

This mod's main menu button is incompatible with mile's updated mods notify mod. The buttons overlay on top of each other.

Getting the same issue as Peter Paul: where there ought to be an interface, there's just a blank space except for the words "Backstory Constructor" in the upper left. No mods loaded except for Harmony and Backstory Constructor, which is placed directly below Core.

@Grubious open Appdata, look for 'Ludeon Studios > RimWorld by Ludeon Studios > Config'. Once you're in 'Config' look for the backstory constructor .XML and then you can edit it from there. Hope that helps lad.

@DimonSever000 I am unable to make negative skills, despite attempting what you had told another; adding a minus at the front (or back) of a number does not make it negative. Adding a minus seems to merely reset the skill to 0.

Does making a skill negative not show up visually? Am I doing something wrong? Or Is there possibly a way to make skills negative just through editing the Appdata? As you have stated Appdata is where the backstories are saved.

Not a high priority by any means, still I remain curious as I'd be convenient.

Unrelated - I've seen someone say this doesn't work with character editor, however it absolutely does, just make sure to restart the game everytime you make a backstory as the mod page states.

Thank you for the mod, I appreciate having a gui to easily create custom backstories.
