At what point does this position unlock? I can't find it in the Nobles menu.

The maker of Dwarf Fortress really need to create some kind of slider for how insane the dwarves will be. Because literally they are by default so fking insane that someone literally had to mod in a psychiatrist.

Once I had a Baron beat up 45 dwarves in my fortress because I accidentally traded something they had an export ban on. Every single dwarf that carried one of those damned amulets to the trading depot got attacked. Needless to say, things only went downhill from there. This would have been useful.

So, it works for me, so far, when I have it as the absolute final mod in my load order.

I should probably look at comments once in a while. Will check to see what issues there are this weekend to fix it along with fixing some of my other mods.

So this mod doesn't work? It sounds really cool.

+1 on having it show up only once
Is there a way to have this mod work or is it an abandoned project?

I think you have a fantastic solution to a way too common problem in DF, so cheers to having made this! wish it works tho

Where should this go in the load order? I've managed to get it to show up only once, but I didn't take note of the load order list.

Ive been playing 2 weeks. I had 3 human children born to the same parents before any dwarven children arrived. The middle child I named Kali, after death, because for 11 of her years now, she's a tantrum monster, busts up the public library, poisons the crops, crying all the time. She has the best dining room and study in the whole fortress. Her two brothers run around happy all the time, I barely notice them, but Kali needs a therapist! Trying to keep children alive AND happy is a full time game in itself.

Correct, Pacifier and Consoler are the two used skills.
Reason for me making this mod, by the way, was that I had a very unhappy fortress and the mayor was overwhelmed by meetings with unhappy citizens and diplomats; So most of the people that needed a shoulder to cry on (q.q so sad) didn't have one and ended up throwing tantrums which meant jail time which led them to be unhappier.

If I remember right Consoler and Pacifier are used by nobles to calm unhappy dwarves

is there a skill that makes the therapist more effective? like speaker or negotiator

Does it work with existing saves?

MrGlasses  [author] 28 Dec, 2022 @ 4:14pm
Not all of the tools in it are ready, no.
Kasa 28 Dec, 2022 @ 3:11pm
I check the git it explicitly said it was not ready in the faq....

@MrGlasses

Where did you see it that any of DFhack was working for steam?
MrGlasses  [author] 28 Dec, 2022 @ 6:24am
The mayor does do this already, but if you have a rowdy fort, it's usually not enough for everyone. It DOES make a decent difference, however.
GLITTERLICH 28 Dec, 2022 @ 3:40am
You may want to rename your mod, "Dwarf Therapist" is the name of an existing popular external tool for DF. Good idea for a mod though, I was under the impression that the Mayor already did that, but maybe not enough to make a difference.
MrGlasses  [author] 27 Dec, 2022 @ 11:28am
It's not the tools in DFHack, no. That being said, I believe some of them are working as of current, or at least tested and confirmed. You can always find the latest build on GIThub.

Cont'd:
Urist McTantrum really just needs a shoulder to cry on or maybe to scream at.

This mod creates a new noble position, similar to the messenger, that will meet with upset citizens of your fortress, giving them good moods and memories. This mod doesn't add much, as your mayor and expidition leader already do this when they aren't too busy...but now you can have more than one man doing the job.
Urist McFrend 27 Dec, 2022 @ 10:52am
The title is a bit misleading, because it's "just" a new noble position and not the external labour manager (among other things) that people have come to expect from the name. From the txt file:
[DESCRIPTION:Adds a new nobility position to help calm your angsty dwarves.]

[STEAM_DESCRIPTION:
Sick of your cook throwing a tantrum and liberating children of their parents because they saw a Goblin die?
Is your fortress burning to the ground because the Count threw your best brewer in the dungeon for failing to build 50 Adamantine statues in her likeness?
Is your mayor too busy playing pocketpull with Elven diplomats to meet with the fortress denizens?
Why not replace his aleviate his workload so that your fortress can be at ease once more...with one or more therapists? etc
