This does work with LWOTC, however I have found a few more network towers that need fixing :)
hottt3 17 Mar @ 6:10am
LWOTC does it work with it? Thanks for the mod!

@Nu-13 - I've been using this map pack in my own games for over two years now and haven't had a map crash upon loading a mission. What exactly are you referring to when you talk about duplicates? Are you able to identify a specifically bugged parcel/PCP - I just find it hard to believe that with 20k subs, nobody has yet noticed....people are ususally very quick to report mods that cause an obvious CTD.
Nu-13 14 Jan @ 7:35pm
Game crashes on this mod. one of the maps has 10 plus dublicates
BlackDog  [author] 27 Aug, 2024 @ 12:57pm
@Mask - I would generally advise to use the Missing Packages Fix alongside this if possible. It's not listed as a requirement in the original mod so it may well work without, but it does prevent crashes from a variety of modded maps and I can't say for sure whether or not there are any parcels/PCPs in this package which may use those assets (In the end I didn't design the maps, I just fixed a few bugs and moved a few features around). Anyway, long story short, I would use it to be on the safe side.
Mask 8 Mar, 2024 @ 12:10pm
So do I need Missing Packages Fix - Parcels & Maps mods to make this work without crashes or did I understand it wrong?
BlackDog  [author] 2 Jul, 2023 @ 6:15am
Great to hear, thanks for testing! :)
Alexandr 1 Jul, 2023 @ 2:33am
This works with LWotC. The problems are fixed with this version of the mod.
xxPYROxxJONESxx 5 May, 2023 @ 5:28am
I have heard this works mostly with LWOTC... however it has very rare bugs that can be very frustrating
RustyDios 2 Apr, 2023 @ 9:46pm
Yes, Yes and Yes
LWotC ~= maybe, it works for some people but not for others, your mileage may vary.
zin 2 Apr, 2023 @ 9:40pm
Sweet mod! Do you know if it’s compatible with Even More Maps, Maps by Vozati, and Waterfowl’s Map Pack? This is for LWotC, but you already talked about that.
Elric 30 Mar, 2023 @ 8:12am
In my recent experience, map mods often cause LWOTC to crash on mission load. I had to disable the ones I was using to play LWOTC.
BlackDog  [author] 3 Mar, 2023 @ 1:29pm
I've not tested it with LWOTC but generally map mods are pretty minimally invasive so it'll probably work (I just can't say it's officially supported / tested).
BlackDog  [author] 3 Mar, 2023 @ 1:22pm
Hi, my understanding is that Fireborn's mission pack can be somewhat buggy & hasn't been updated in while. I can't say how well this mod plays with Fireborn's missions since I didn't specifically test it, but I'm currently doing a playthrough with Vozati's Maps, all of Eclipszrs parcels & waterfowl's map pack and haven't had any CTDs or issues with map objects so far. Compared to the original mod, I moved or added only a small number of items to the maps (maybe 30-40 objects, basically just bins and garbage piles on maps where there was no obvious single-tile object for the hack tower to replace) and was very careful to check the cover worked correctly, so it's very unlikely this mod would cause cover issues. In terms of spawn likelyhood, it should only be slightly higher than the base-game (The game selects the map layout from a big pool of pieces & this mod probably slightly increases the percentage of small pieces which have a valid tower spawn point, but it's barely noticable).
Gich 26 Feb, 2023 @ 7:50pm
Hello! im new to the mod community haha does this work with LWOTC?:) ty so much for your work!
RustyDios 26 Feb, 2023 @ 11:07am
In the city and slums.. maybe a bit more likely as the overall pool of map-pieces with towers in is increased, so there is more chance of the game rolling with a tower.

Same answer with the turrets.
LightenedDark 26 Feb, 2023 @ 10:39am
Does this mod make it more or less likely to find advent Network Security Towers? It's hard to figure out which missions have them and what happens to those odds with new map packs. For instance a Small Town can have a tower, but it isn't guaranteed.

Same question, but for advent turrets.
MaCC165 21 Feb, 2023 @ 3:56am
fireborn has no fx_billboard, and i have no crashes with it, i had crashes with maps by vozati(wotc edition), do u have this? switch to vanilla edition helped...
another question, i have problems with invisible hexes, they show up in the movement area, but i cant target them, as if there is an invsible wall/parcel) or something, aswell as trees or other things are there, but i can move on their field, so they arent there and and the last one is, i have often trees and other things, which have no cover, could this be related to your mod? Could this be related to a non mapmod? I had this never before for ages, and the last mappack i added was yours, and others i have for ages
XpanD 20 Feb, 2023 @ 2:28am
Are you sure Fireborn's pack uses that file? Not seeing it on mine. (the Nexus version)
RustyDios 19 Feb, 2023 @ 9:07am
The conflict is likely to be in the fx_billboards.upk's not being "the same".. most likely in that he Fireborn's mod version isn't a "clean" version. Try using the file from the linked Missing Packages-fix thread.
XpanD 19 Feb, 2023 @ 2:34am
For what it's worth... I've had some crashes on Fireborn missions before, but regenerating the mission (using a save from right before it was rolled) has always worked so far. Have had this mod since it was released.

(not to say that there isn't a conflict there, but I haven't experienced any hard unavoidable crashes either)
Skarsatai 2.0 18 Feb, 2023 @ 6:12pm
Fireborns Mission pack and this great mod is not compatible. In the beginning it works. First encoounter is the first assault mission. Mission loads you see the map and than CTD. Second encounter especially when Lost as sitrep on the map, unpredictable CTD. took me month to understand what happens.Fireborns mission mod brings parcels as well with it. So if you have crashes after crashes have a look in your modlist ifyou have both missions active.
Mrvecz 16 Feb, 2023 @ 9:23am
Next time i will get it unhackable, i will gather evidence.

Not sure if LWOTC could be the cause, but other map mods worked fine.
BlackDog  [author] 15 Feb, 2023 @ 7:32pm
Also, there are some sitreps (e.g. updated firewalls) which prevent you hacking stuff with gremlins so it could be that, as well.
BlackDog  [author] 15 Feb, 2023 @ 6:21pm
@Mrvecz, None of the hackable objectives were modified from the original mod and iirc there aren't actually very many objective placements in this mod in the first place. The mod is mostly PCPs which are small map elements used to fill plot spaces (& objectives tend to be part of the larger parcels). If there are issues with the objectives you'd also expect them to be present in the original version. I must admit I've done a few playthroughs since launching this mod and haven't come across the issue you're describing but I'm not saying it's impossible either. If you'd like me to investigate, please DM me on the modding discord with example screenshot(s) and I'll see if I can identify the affected map element(s) & check configuration. Also, if you're seeing this issue on missions which aren't in city centre or slums plots then this mod is almost certainly not the cause of the issue & you should look elsewhere (perhaps look at gremlin mods or things modifying LOS behaviour).
Mrvecz 14 Feb, 2023 @ 8:57am
I noticed ever since subbing to this mod that some missions have unhackable consoles by Gremlins, LoS indicator shows locations where i should have been able to send gremlin to hack it but the ability to hack the console never seems to show up. Even if i station my soldier right next to the thing in the green squares, i have to bring non-gremlin classes to hack it and finish the mission.

Oh ok, thanks @dragon32:steamthumbsup:
Dragon32 8 Feb, 2023 @ 10:40am
@jat11241976
This mod doesn't, Missing Packages Fix does.
jat11241976 8 Feb, 2023 @ 9:57am
Okay, I'm confused. In this mod it clearly links it to the fix necessary if using Missing Packages Fix - Parcels and Maps. When clicking the link to the fix, it clearly states:

Please note the updated FX_Billboards file is now included by default in the updated version of Mandarb's map pack:

which links back to this mod. So is the fix in fact already part of this mod, as stated in the link to the fix? Which means its just not updated in this description, or does it in fact still need the fix?
mikesh1958 8 Feb, 2023 @ 3:36am
@Dragon32 Thank you, your advice helped. I couldn't check for a long time because I didn't come across city maps.
Dragon32 1 Feb, 2023 @ 10:08am
@mikesh1958
I've heard of something like that with Quick Soldier Info and its "take portraits" option enabled. If you're using that try disabling that option.
mikesh1958 1 Feb, 2023 @ 9:42am
After installing this mod, I stopped seeing what is being done inside buildings on many maps. After removing this mod, everything comes back to normal.
BlackDog  [author] 29 Jan, 2023 @ 5:23pm
@Bruno315 There is no hard dependency between this mod and "missing packages fix". However, if both are installed at the same time, there is a file which is slightly different between the two which I'm lead to believe could cause a crash. Replacing that file with the link in the description fixes the issue. If you're not using it you can just subscribe to this mod and you don't need to worry about it :)
Vaultwulf 9 Jan, 2023 @ 12:18pm
@Dragon32 Thank you for the info!
Dragon32 9 Jan, 2023 @ 9:28am
@Vaultwulf
AFAIK there is no list but Doc Mandarb's and the Packages Fix mod are the only two I know of.
Vaultwulf 8 Jan, 2023 @ 4:32pm
To be clear I already use the Missing Packages Fix - Parcels & Maps. I am referring to the Makeshift fix for Fx_Billboards. Thank you! :xcom2ranger:
Vaultwulf 8 Jan, 2023 @ 4:29pm
Just curious if there is a list of map mods that require the Missing Packages Fix - Parcels & Maps I only use eclipsezr map mods at this time. Would love to add this to my mod list. :xcom2ranger:
Wygg 7 Jan, 2023 @ 1:38pm
Niiiiice, this was a truly fantastic map pack that died too young. I was forced to stop using it due to the billboards and those crazy tower issues. With those fixed, I'll be tossing this beast back into my monster collection immediately. I love me some map variety. <3 <3

@modifieda4
Thanks but I won't, no interest in it.
modifieda4 7 Jan, 2023 @ 8:16am
@ Dragon32 no, it doesn't certain ones don't work, many do, including this one. read the map section: https://github.com/long-war-2/lwotc/wiki/Mod-compatibility-(community-maintained)
Dragon32 7 Jan, 2023 @ 7:56am
@neur0n23
I thought LWotC says not to use any map mods?
neur0n23 7 Jan, 2023 @ 5:16am
Hi BlackDog - I was just tweaking my Long War of The Chosen Campaign, since I encountered a map bug a month into the campaign and it prompted me to review the mappacks I was running.

I will be using this re-release of Dr. Mandarb's mod by you in my current LWOTC run and if I encounter any problems I will post here.

Just wanted to say thank you for your efforts and time man, have a great day!
BlackDog  [author] 7 Jan, 2023 @ 5:01am
@Revan4k - it just adds additional parcels and PCPs (map pieces) to the game to add mission variety. The way the fix works is that there are certain map objects which the network tower can be configured to replace. This is done by a placing a marker object in the PCP/parcel and then assigning that marker to a replacement object on the map. However, if the replacement object is later removed from the map by the map-maker or the marker is improperly configured, the tower can be spawned at the marker instead of the replacement object (& the marker position defaults to somewhere in the sky). In the fix, we went through all of the map pieces from the original mod and made sure the marker was always referencing a valid replacement object or in some cases, removing it entirely if it fits better thematically. We also moved a few objects around where XCOM could spawn in range of a tower or turret replacement object (turrets use essentially the same placement system).
