In the house it was too easy to get confused about where to go or what to do next. None of the keys stated which room it went to, there was no map. Some of the clues were scattered around the house on different floors for puzzles. It leaves players stuck in a cycle of trying every single door to see if it opens, & having to pause & watch a video/lookup your 'hints' or brute force puzzles.
While I understand "Lights out = dark" even with brightness settings changed its impossible to see where you are at any given time when they go out.
I couldn't even finish because the hammer glitched for me. It is not worth the headache to replay and attempt to complete.
Thought wasn't going to be able to finish cause: Went outside and thought needed to bury the doll, nails and they just started jumping around all over the grave. Was able to retrieve the nails, but the doll was GONE. So just for the sake of it, went this far already, I continued. When it got time to bury the girl and nails, opened the coffin and there was the doll. Thank goodness. Went back and burned it and finished the game.
But it is very long : 2h30 for me (two parts of 1h15)
I did get impatient with the puzzles and use a lot of hints -- I think the estimate should be 2-3 hours rather than 45 minutes. There's a lot of space to cover, and heaven help you if you miss an item and don't know where to look.
The repeated lights out was spooky but a nuisance by the third one. I would have liked to have had the guides for the blue books and spell box to have been pinnable rather than having to break out and recheck.
Despite those few minor things, a five star room. I look forward to more.
Regarding the difficulty, i think it is ok, we have been warned, but i am not sure if it is a good idea to start the map with something like the 3 digit code where you do not have any hint where to search for it at all. But maybe thats just me, for me it felt like one of the hardest problems in the whole map. ;)
If you replace the fuse before taking the photo of the ghost, the the ghost causes the lights to default back to turning off every three minutes. I initially played through, thinking it was weird that the fuse didn't fix the lights, but assuming that maybe there was more to the puzzle I just hadn't seen yet. I got up to the tea party before finally the lights cut out, and it was too dark for me to figure out my way back downstairs. After reading the comments I thought maybe I'd just had a bugged instance, but it happened again. Fuse, then photo caused the lights to act like I'd never fixed the fuse. Choosing to do the photo first and then the fuse fixed the problem for me.
