Does anyone know if this is normal or how to solve it?
Appalachian map is generated, click Next, you change mods/settings, map is generated again (I don't know why) and hit play: Et Voila! You end up with a Fantasia map generated with the previous parameters...
It's the same for any generator (at least on 2 of my PC), you always end up with a Fantasia-generated map.
Do you know why this is happening?
Anyway great work!
- there are no snow caps (no big deal, I can paint them myself), it would have been nice to have some for the Temperate biom;
- when a river-lake is created there is not a lot of space around it for building. I hope that is fixable for within the mod (no big deal, I can terraform myself);
- the forced flat areas are not the lowest ones - planes - and occur on mountains => makes Platoes unusable and unrequired;
- Canions are a bit off to me as most of the time they create bizzar cuts in the terrain.
Other than these - it's perfect.
The downside are the many mesas and steep cliffs, that make it impossible to connect some cities, and look quite unrealistic. So if you want a landscape with both rivers and mountains, you have to hit the refresh button several times to get a playable map (mesas and cliffs cannot be disabled in the menu).
But if you´ve tried any other map generator, you won´t see this little disadvantage as a problem. After all, it´s a great tool!
I tried every map generation I found. but non of them really featured the elevation variety I knew and loved from TF1. Now this game isn't a flat surface simulator anymore!!! Thank you
Version 1.4
-----------------------------------------
- Added map generator variant for dry climate
- Added map generator variant for tropical climate
- Added configuration option to adjust river width
- Added some detail to mesa cliffs
The mod is great for fantastic map generation however, when the industries generation, have you considered some of them appear near cities they need theirs goods? The normal generator is doing so pretty well to give you a start up.
Right now the factories generation is so random, that only makes sense to play the Fantasia generated maps on sandbox mode with unlimited money, normal start at 1850s is close to impossible and a huge grind if manage to make a start.
It could be more polished, but it works well, and it was made for free by a presumably small team or single person.
This map gen is what game needed, base gen is horrible, but I also would love to have one for dessert climate, and tropical. Can't really play them with this generator due to map gen changing when I set different climate settings
Simply amazing, thanks for creating and sharing it.
I have coupled it with Not So Temperate Generator for the snow peak aspect, seems to work a treat.
The maps generated, need some more testing, look good and if there is one feature I would like to see is the ability to change the width of the rivers applied to the map. I am guessing that is shipping is going to be a factor then the few maps I have seen so far, as well as wider bridging, will not be accommodated.
At least you could generate map previews more suited to what you would like, with a river width option, rather than leave it to a chance generation.
Thanks

Keep up the great work
