@Shybii Thank you, unfortunately with Cold Stream that is not a problem that can be fixed as the problem is the level lighting. It's too bright the texture itself is just picking up the lighting
Shybii 30 Jun @ 1:02pm
Appreciate the fixes and updates! I love turning Left 4 Dead into a lush green apocalypse.
:D

Since you were able to address the lighting on the sprites, any chance you can also address the lighting on the River Rocks mod as well? They glow super bright on Cold Stream.

@ThruTheStorm I just did it now
ThruTheStorm 24 Jun @ 8:39am
Can you add the mipmaps to the l4d2 version as well? Thanks
Bane  [author] 24 Jun @ 6:44am
@Shybii I confirmed that error and have now fixed it with mipmaps
Shybii 23 Jun @ 10:06pm
Unfortunately the new update makes all the them disappear when you turn on your flashlight :(
ThruTheStorm 22 Jun @ 10:31pm
But I suggest adding mipmaps to your tree foilage and such. it's immersion breaking and a little irritating to see the higher resolution stuff have a static effect when im moving.
ThruTheStorm 22 Jun @ 10:28pm
mipmaps work, but now when my flashlight is on, the grass dissapears.
Bane  [author] 22 Jun @ 10:05pm
@ThruTheStorm I added mipmaps, it should solve your issue
ThruTheStorm 22 Jun @ 1:02pm
This texture makes the grass have a static effect from afar which isn't very pleasing. resolution is too high.

works perfectly now ! thx for the fix
Bane  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 10:43am
@۞Mordred۞ Found and fixed, somehow I saved the normals vtf as the diffuse file :steamfacepalm: fixed now
Bane  [author] 14 Apr, 2024 @ 6:45am
@۞Mordred۞ Odd, I checked the addon in my workshop folder and the size is correct and all vtfs are in the correct folder. Might be a problem on your side?
۞Mordred۞ 13 Apr, 2024 @ 10:09pm

@Bane: Noted & thank you for the prompt reply !

@Myth[Alex] The default setting is "setting.mem_level" "3"
Bane  [author] 5 Oct, 2023 @ 9:39pm
@Myth[Alex] it's in the cfg folder in your Left 4 Dead 2 directory. The file name is video.txt you go into there and set this one
"setting.mem_level" "0"

My friend found this solution for me just after TLS because it caused my game to constantly crash. I play with all of Szalisk's 4k environment improvements and then these so that it looks really amazing
Myth[Alex] 5 Oct, 2023 @ 9:28pm
@ author (Bane): Could you tell us more about "memlevel" ? this looks interesting. Do we type it into the game's console? what's the default value for it? and does it affect every single texture (beyond the vegetation) ? if so, it means one should get higher-res texture mods for everything, as long as they look better than vanilla / un-modded. Last but not least, you could add this piece of info in the mod(s)' description for people who skip reading the comment section.

Keep up the good work  Your mods are great.

@Bane I hope the 2K version of these wonderful plants will fix my problem
Bane  [author] 5 Oct, 2023 @ 8:22pm
@murdbash Yeah I never have that with my mods, but I had that a lot when the Last Stand first came out where it would just crash on me
corpse part 5 Oct, 2023 @ 8:16pm
@Bane I hope for you and have subscribed to you, I will look forward to all versions of your vegetation mods in 2K resolution
corpse part 5 Oct, 2023 @ 8:12pm
@Bane Thanks for the answer, I heard you, I'll delete my old comments, I'm just making a collection here called "REMASTERED" all companies with your vegetation mods work fine, but unfortunately the campaign "The Last Stand" crashes:(
Bane  [author] 5 Oct, 2023 @ 8:08pm
@murdbash if you have lots of 4k texture addons it might do that, the easiest solution is to go into memlevel and set it to 0. The only loss is texture quality, but if you're using 4k textures it looks far better than the original game. My game never crashes on the Last Stand. 2K is just taking a while as I have to completely resize all textures and repackage them

cool
Bane  [author] 3 Aug, 2023 @ 9:24pm
@Hooman Thank you, I just really enjoy this game so I felt the the plants should look really good too
Hooman25 3 Aug, 2023 @ 10:55am
YOU are awesome for your effort Bane
Bane  [author] 13 Jul, 2023 @ 8:23am
@의리 No no, I first upscaled with an AI, then I tried to identify each plant and replaced it with photos of the actual plants, i sourced actual photos at a high resolution then scaled them down to fit on the 4k texture file so that they were at the best quality. Most of the detail sprites are grasses. So I looked up the grass types found across Pennsylvania and replaced them with the corresponding grasses. So yes I replaced most of them with actual plants those I could not identify are just AI upscales
무비 12 Jul, 2023 @ 8:32pm
Does this mod make the original plants in the l4d game 4k? Or are you replacing it with another plant?
Bane  [author] 11 Jul, 2023 @ 6:31pm
@This my duty, yeah, especially on a map like Yama finale, the first section has far too much orange light, so it stands out a bit
duty man 11 Jul, 2023 @ 11:32am
The vegetation and scene colors in certain areas are consistent, while others are inconsistent. It's like losing the shadow effect. Is this a problem with the map?
Bane  [author] 18 Jan, 2023 @ 6:20pm
Well, 2k is not good enough to me. I think it doesn't lag for me at all because I play on the highest settings but with mem.level set to 0. Still this is a personal mod which I'm sharing. glad you liked the prettiness
Lemmestrokeyoshit25 18 Jan, 2023 @ 7:43am
This mod is really cool but imma be 100% with you and say 4k is WAY too much for these textures. Like WAY WAY too much. if you REALLY want quality go with 2k. You'll save on memory yet stuff will still look solid. This game only has 4gig's of memory meaning thats 100+mb you're putting into memory. And lets say you're also using more HD mods ontop of that. You're using upwards of 1.7+gigs into memory. If you compressed this mod to 2048x2048 or hell even 1024x1024 I think it'd be good. But 4k really is too much for such small details. Besides that nerd talk though these arent half bad. Bit out of place but in certain angles and maps it can look pretty.
1182 18 Jan, 2023 @ 6:10am
extra lag

@Papiu Gome, glad you like :steamhappy:

Bane  [author] 16 Jan, 2023 @ 6:19am
The original detail sprites were either 1024x1024 or 512 x 512, that means each sprite was about small than 512 in res.I upscaled each one to 4096 so that each detail sprite is at least in the 1024 range. These are then scale down onto the sprite face giving sharpness. I also included a normal map for each texture
7ᴇᴍᴘᴇsᴛᴲ 15 Jan, 2023 @ 7:18pm
damn 128 mb?
