I'm sorry if my comment from earlier came off as sarcastic, I meant it to be a compliment. I will try to read for tone more

No worries for Taiwan though, any of the mods you create are always great. Been playing Afghanistan recently

The Cantonese Opera was already nerfed once, @The21er.power.cat. The purpose to always have it themed so I will never take that away. Taiwan has been considered and will be made after I am finished with the Indias. In other words: a promise I cannot make.

The traits and building of this civilization are super creative and seems like it won't be overpowered

On a separate note, would you consider creating a Taiwan leader?

@David Wou I would like to see your proposals.

You can send me a link via Steam or Discord @Phantagonist. I think I saw you in the Modder's Helpline, we can use direct messaging on that platform.
Phantagonist 28 Jan, 2023 @ 5:41am
Translation completed. How do I send it to you?
Strudeler of the Tart Society  [author] 27 Jan, 2023 @ 2:22pm
Sure, fix as you please @Phantagonist.

Sorry for the late reply, did not receive notification. Yes, I am still translating the mod, with only the geographical names remaining (my solution is to add an adjective "of Canton" for those overlapping names).
By the way, I've come up with several discrepancies between the civilopedia articles and the historical sources I could find. Would you like if I provide the fixes for English texts as well, or just translate the Chinese part with translator's notes?
Strudeler of the Tart Society  [author] 24 Jan, 2023 @ 5:59pm
Are you still interested in translating, @Phantagonist?

The rework yesterday makes this mod 100% perfect. I love it in every way.

If anyone needs version 1.0.0, it can be found on Nexus Mods.

@Strudeler, thanks! I might consider learning from you to make my own mods.

Dear @Phantagonist,

I would love working with a translator but this release may been a mistake. There are redditors/dicord users that are in shock of the Cantonese Opera's strength, they're right, it's damn good (like 65+ Culture/Tourism good). I'm going to rework the building (lower Great Work slots, bonus Faith for deity-style theatrics), I'll let you know when its live and ready for translation.

I don't mind name overlap between civs (it is inevitable). If differentiation of names can be done, I recommend stressing phonetic pronunciation, exaggerating an accent, in order to force the text to at least appear different in the case for translations, the Rosetta mod, etc. I should mention that my stylized city names take from whatever Simplified, Traditional, or Cantonese Romanization I found first.

Best Regards,
Strudeler

@ Pyrocrates
The traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese share a lot of characters. Plus, Civ VI have both language settings for traditional and simplified Chinese, and using another type of characters may result in garbled text.

Dear @Pyrocrates,

This Cantonese civilization does not use Hong Kong as a city name, in-fact the Hong Kong city-state was not touched (which is a headache on Firaxis' TSL). Currently I am not certain what to do with medium sized republics, I know I plan on making Venetia and Liguria (Genoa and Monaco) have forced penalties to expanding much like in Civ 5, but these are regional names and not particular republics. If I were to make a Hong Kong it would be named 'Anglo-China' just as Macau would be 'Luso-China,' the issue is I do not know how to handle small republics/city-states yet. There may be a possibility for a Yue/Lingnan as I designed Canton to be specifically maritime which opens up inland Guangxi-Guangdong. You could always look at my files in your workshop downloads for 'Siangwaan'; my mods are free, you just need the aptitude for the burden of modding.

Best Regards,
Strudeler

@Phantagonist I recommend using Traditional Chinese spelling, not Simplified (which is Mainland or Beijing Mandarin). This is the spelling used for Cantonese and especially Hong Kong, a Cantonese city.
Phantagonist 23 Jan, 2023 @ 2:50am
I could provide Chinese translation to this mod, probably translating Ching Shih's dialogues in Cantonese.
One thing, how would you like me to translate the city names? As several Canton city names would share the same Chinese characters with existing Chinese city names.
Pyrocrates1 23 Jan, 2023 @ 1:39am
As a Cantonese person, I am proud of this mod and happy that it exists!

DYK there's also a "Hong Kong" mod? I would like the two Cantonese civs work things between each other, especially to get ideas for my fictional country based on Canton, "Siangwaan".
