@WOOKIEWACK I literally cannot do that as what I have done (giving the Nighthawk stealth) is now in the vanilla game. Yeah I could give it the 10% ECM, which I did because I thought it had an RWR, but it apparently didn't in 1989, so it's representation in the game is actually good currently

Considering the Nighthawks was flying over baghdad before operation desert storm crossed the borders or knocked out any of the air defenses without them knowing I feel like this thing should be basically invisible to early radar systems with only the late 90s systems being able to target the thing.

Bro i had a 117 flying taking out arty and shit got taken down by a Radar AA so I sent a 2nd and shit got shotdown by a ZSU-57 aka the NO RADAR NO LASER Manual aim AA.

The fact that Serbs shooting down one f117 with literally everything in their favor, skill, luck, and suicidal determination is considered a huge achievement shows just how damn stealthy it was.

It`s funny how after only a single F117 was ever shot down by a missile salvo from AA defences that knew a strike was coming developed into doubtin the aircraft as a whole. I wish the meme would just have stayed a meme and not taken up my ppl for historical fact. Cool mod tho and happy you made it

Never forget that stealth in terms of aircraft is only an industrial term, but is not yet a reality. We're talking about signature reduction, which isn't true stealth.

The Americans quickly understood the nuance when they lost an F-117 in Yugoslavia, and another had been hooked and hit without being shot down. What a paradox to talk about stealth when such an expensive plane gets shot down by a shitty S-125 of Soviet origin.

Furthermore, in regards to WARNO, there is no Electronic Warfare. There is a mod for Red Dragon that does do EW in a sense which temporarily stuns the AAA/SAM system but that is about it. If you could get EW working like that in WARNO the F-117 with proper stealth characteristics would clean house on critical targets.

Fun fact the F-117A only had an RWR and no ECM suite, this was due for weight savings and in case of HOJ (Home On Jam) missiles being used.

The F-117A was stealthy due to a few factors, 1st being its design and RAM (RADAR Absorbent Material), its angular shape, and overall profile. However it was the combination of EW & SEAD ahead of the aircraft that allowed it to do stuff that up until that point would have been considered suicide in a heavy SAM/AAA network. F-111 Raven's running EW & SEAD ahead of the F-117 made it almost invisible.

this is how it works in Wargame too, the F-117 doesn't actually dodge SAMs and shit IRL

Pretty funny how this went down. F-117 came out and right away people noticed stealth wasn't working and pointed it out but Eugen shouted them all down and claimed the F-117 did have stealth, they were just wrong. Then after enough people yelling about it some more Eugen finally admitted that they did forget to give it stealth and supposedly it will be fixed in a patch.

@jonitro Nope, they ripped that out. Some MAY have had a RLS but not only did that not work like a RWR, they were all removed by the mid 80's

Yea it lacking stealth was odd, but it having no ECM is oddly how it came Irl. It relied 100% on just knowing were SAMs were to not over fly them, and was only told that info via pre-take off map
