I have a very similar ship that is a bit cheaper. What I did differently was not having forward thrusters and setting flight direction to backwards. Just turns around and begins booking it at max range and kites enemies. Also has additional 2 directional thrusters that aim forwards and to the sides for added maneuverability and acceleration.
