i love the mod
Slimez 12 Sep, 2024 @ 4:54pm
All the people who said this should be base game really underestimated keen. Not only did add limited precision placement, but in doing so they broke the mods that had less limited precision placement.
Slimez 12 Sep, 2024 @ 4:50pm
I agree, that would be really nice. I've not modded SE much, so i don't know if its possible, and if so, how easy it would be.
KarlThorsten89 23 May, 2024 @ 8:04am
This mod could use an update so it only affects modded blocks. MODDED blocks cannot be placed down anymore in right spaces when this mod is not in use, but having this mod active allows that placement, but instead, vanilla blocks cannot be placed down anymore. It's really odd how they've broken this so much.
It's just topsy-turvy.
Or, a new mod that ONLY applies to modded blocks, and do not affect vanilla blocks.
Yeetus_Deletus27 17 May, 2024 @ 9:03pm
This was a great mod while it lasted, thanks
KarlThorsten89 16 May, 2024 @ 1:24pm
Yeah, vanilla doesn't let me place thin armor blocks between armor sections that are connected by hinges, not always. Specifically, mod armor that is really thin to cover a REALLY thin gap.

long story short

update 1.203 introduced a keen brand PP (not the same method i used) into base SE
update 1.204 broke it for non-armor blocks (armor block placement was actually tightened in 1.204)
Const  [author] 16 May, 2024 @ 8:17am
i just did some tests with vanilla versions 1.203.6 and 1.204 (live).

subgrid placement of non-armor blocks have returned to being restricted around subgrids

Im just reitterating as i might be missunderstanding something.

The picture linked in the last post is a regular armor slope block next to a subgrid half armor slope block. they are on two separate grids, not the same grid (Right side where block placement is red is main grid, Left is subgrid which collides)

With Precision Placement mod on, the armor block cannot be placed. in vanilla Signal update it can be placed. So the mod is definetly doing something.
kennet0508 16 May, 2024 @ 7:27am
since it doesnt work armor blocks due to dynamic collision, im guessing it interferes with armor block placement in close proximity to a subgrid due to a conflict between the newvanilla placement post 1.203? Essentially having this mod on overrides the vanilla placement and sets it back to pre version 1.203 (but with the mods fixes to placement Like the conveyor picture linked 14. may) and thats why in some cases it fixes things post signal update (Since keen broke their placement) and other times it doesnt works? or am i missing something.
Const  [author] 16 May, 2024 @ 6:18am
to reiterate
this mod NEVER worked on armor blocks (as stated on the LIMITATIONS section of the description (who nobody ever reads)
this only worked on blocks with static colliders

keen introduced their own brand of PP on 1.203 (warfare evolution)
which worked on armor blocks, and made this mod pretty much deprecated

signals update broke that

make a report on the support site to get it fixed by the scheduled hotfix
kennet0508 16 May, 2024 @ 5:57am
Its kinda weird, this mod both fixes issues but causes other issues, today i wasnt able to place a block in close proximity to another subgrid (example link), while on my previous post, i couldnt place a conveyor without the mod.

Example:

Could you link the bug report so i can upvote it?
ribera1945e 15 May, 2024 @ 1:18am
It's possible that this mod is needed again since the Signal update. I have already reported the issue on the forum.
kennet0508 14 May, 2024 @ 3:14am
This mod is still very relevant, conveyor tubes over subgrids only fits with this mod

basically its just precise hit/placement boxes

I'm new, having a problem with my 1st "Learning to Survive" run. The jump ship cockpit had some block errors when I reloaded it yest. The console/seat was floating, no longer attached.
In trying to fix this, I tried taking out the floors and walls and replacing. The 3 glass walls seem to intrude 10% into the grid square the chair used to occupy.
Now I still can't get the Chair to "snap" down in contact with the floor, so it does not fly the ship, being its own grid. It also breaks off and floats easily. IE, its not attaching to the ship grid.
I'm guessing this mod will allow me to place the chair's-grid-cube IN the tight space. The window wall squares squeeze into the open (should-be-cockpit) space? So with this mod I can snap it in the squeezed space?
Or do I need to snap down the chair, then build the window-wall-(Cubes) around it? Because that didnt seem to work either.
Gonna go try this mod right now, just hope someone can advise. thanks.

yes
Adam_Schadow 13 Mar, 2024 @ 9:15am
When I make a ship using this mod can I then load it in a fully vanilla world without any blocks disappearing?
(BaB)Alistar Draconous 22 Oct, 2023 @ 6:59pm
compound blocks compound blocks skcolb dnuopmoc skcolb dnuopmoc
Const  [author] 30 Jul, 2023 @ 6:39pm
if you're using vanilla armor blocks, it won't work...as stated in the description
DartTimeTime 30 Jul, 2023 @ 1:43pm
...oh....
So... it should just work? Im having a hell of a time getting this to work with subgrids.
Const  [author] 25 Jul, 2023 @ 8:42pm
@DartTimeTime
No, just load it and should be good
DartTimeTime 25 Jul, 2023 @ 5:29pm
Is there something I need to do to get this mod to start working? Does it need to be at the top or the bottom of the mod list, or anything like that?
NyaNyaNyang 1 Jun, 2023 @ 10:42pm
some armor block not working.
-armor slope 2x1x1
-armor corner 2x1x1
i tried with half armor block
sethharpenger 28 May, 2023 @ 4:33pm
really wish compound or collision based placement was a thing
Altzan260 26 May, 2023 @ 5:52pm
How does one use this mod?
Monica 24 May, 2023 @ 7:28am
I just want that function when I first played this game. Can't wait to try it
Lucky Jimbo 13 May, 2023 @ 6:55pm
Generally great, but it makes some things actually harder to place. Rotors are one example. With the mod enabled, you cannot place a rotor right next to a subgrid.
Dragon Fire 813 12 May, 2023 @ 12:07pm
@jack: Without rewriting the entire block placing system in a similar way to Medieval Engineers' block system, it's impossible. The closest you'll get is making a new block that combines 2 others as a mod. There is a mod ,aptly named Block Combinations, that has combos for a lot vanilla blocks. Example block combos that mod provides are: seats and 1x1 window, flight seat and 1x1 window, lights as a part of various base game decorative blocks( like catwalks and interior walls), ladders and the original passage block, among several other combos.
swerdna.jack 11 May, 2023 @ 4:08pm
I get that this does NOT add compound blocks, but does anyone know of a mod that does?
jje64 9 May, 2023 @ 4:53pm
I really don't see any difference in block placement after adding this. Does it need to go anywhere special in the mod order?
TheMysticWolf10 9 May, 2023 @ 8:22am
because then it would be to ez
Nicolas267s 7 May, 2023 @ 12:01pm
This should totally be in the vanilla game. It's so easy, why Keen haven't done it...
Vinny 3 May, 2023 @ 12:39am
@below; you can already do what this mod does in vanilla by building seperate parts and moving them together, all the mod does is skip that tedium and build normally instead
so no I don't see any reason why this mod would change how the game behaves after it's removal
Wulf 1 May, 2023 @ 9:41pm
Because I'm not-smart and need clarification, what this does is change block interactions to allow placement when otherwise not possible because of bounding box collisions with other the main grid, that the subgrid is attached to?
Dying Dark Star 28 Apr, 2023 @ 9:06pm
this should be in the vanilla game
Tweak Karma 25 Apr, 2023 @ 4:06pm
what happens if you build something then take mod off. will clang have a field day or does it not effect it?
Serialtasted 21 Apr, 2023 @ 8:22am
@Ash read the description. it's there in bold!
Ash 16 Apr, 2023 @ 11:35am
is compound blocks possible?
condottiere 8 Apr, 2023 @ 12:05pm
I appreciate this mod exactly for what it does do. Nice little help when I use subgrid thruster assemblies or subgrid suspensions and want to squeeze in one more block.

@The Windows Experience: That was lechking's point -- they were responding to Punishment Divine / Dagonius. To non-scripters/coders who don't know anything, it SEEMS easy like anyone with two brain cells should be able to do it. Thus they think Keen need to get on it.

No dumb, entitled demands or expectations out of the mod's scope. @DragonF1re, @Leonser, et al.
DeeGlov 19 Mar, 2023 @ 9:13am
@DragonF1reCDN then you do it
DragonF1reCDN 10 Mar, 2023 @ 5:38pm
Next up, you gotta make this work for compound blocks. I saw the screenshot and thought i was finally able to make my complex ship shapes at long last, but am rather disappointed.
Silverado Legion 6 Mar, 2023 @ 4:31pm
This isn't compound blocks. Sure they probably could change the hit boxes of a few blocks to be better, but compound blocks are much more difficult lechkingofdead.
lechkingofdead 6 Mar, 2023 @ 3:36pm
because it basicly to the non script monkys it seams to be simple change of a few variables. that should be base game
Ksarper 6 Mar, 2023 @ 3:39am
@Dagonius, what does this have to do with Keen?
mugsy 5 Mar, 2023 @ 4:37pm
omfg, i think i just wet myself.
today cannot possibly end quickly enough because i need to play with this one.
LeonserGT 5 Mar, 2023 @ 3:07pm
Bruh. When I first seen this, I thought someone finally found a holy grail of SE that is compound blocks, but nope, just subgrids 😭
