@vortex theres a mod that allows you to remove mods from saved contraptions, its called the corruption remover or something. Some of your contraptions maybe corrupted because of updates though, cant really do anything about that

to disable the mod you just need to uninstall it, wich is lame

I Anyway reccomend this mod, made my experience more fun and a bit more terryfying when it came to battles in ppg. But im uninstalling this, cuh i cant upload Contraptions normally that has humans, becouse the "scream mod but better" is required, without mod contraption becomes corrupted.
