I'll admit I'm not sure how well this ship holds up when scaled up. But if you convert the smart hull, the two small cargo blocks and the frontmost crew quarter block I think it might have a decent amount of shield for its design.
If you want an even stronger ship, I can recommend converting the hull into armor. Though this is slightly more complicated. Simply put, make sure you have no colour selected in the colour menu, then individually select each hull block type and press select all, then select the corresponding armor block (ie blank hull -> armor, blank edge -> armor edge, etc) one block type at a time and press replace all. Ship will be less nimble, but much tougher when shields fail.
just sucks that it isnt avaible / loading in the ships menu ingame
