Consorts Give Monarch Power

I'm getting the same issue where an increase in ruler stat isn't removing the old modifier.
GreyGriff 2 Aug, 2024 @ 9:04am
Yearly checks don't seem to be working in my game, after the year changes I still have two country modifiers for the consort bonus that are both adding mana. Caused by monarch gaining mana power. So it did correctly add a new modifier for the correct adjustment, it just didn't delete the old one

great mod
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 15 Mar, 2024 @ 10:35am
I have just published an update that adds additional checks to remove the modifiers on ruler death, new ruler, new consort, consort death, etc., so hopefully that helps with any issues
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 15 Mar, 2024 @ 10:28am
@greenie thank you for letting me know. There is no specific way to check for a gain in monarch power for an individual ruler, but I can try making it so the game checks yearly and removes any excess modifiers from my mod.
greenie 15 Mar, 2024 @ 3:16am
Hey Mr. Mod Author, still having a bit of an issue as was discussed in this thread last. From what me and a friend could tell, it may occur when your monarch mana changes, say a ruler going from 3/3/3 to 4/3/3, it would reapply the consort bonus accordingly, yet not remove the last one. Hope that helps!
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 31 Jan, 2024 @ 10:39pm
It could still be an issue with my mod, I just haven't had the chance to replicate it yet. Also, just to note the issue will still appear for existing savegames, so to have the fix it would need to be a new game. Thank you very much for letting me know.
Conner♿ 31 Jan, 2024 @ 6:09pm
I still have the problem imma reinstall the game it probably something on my end I'm guessing
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 22 Jan, 2024 @ 8:00pm
I have updated the mod so it removes the consort modifiers under more conditions, so hopefully it resolves the issue
Conner♿ 13 Jan, 2024 @ 10:57am
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 13 Jan, 2024 @ 10:45am
I'll look into it now, thanks for the heads up
Conner♿ 13 Jan, 2024 @ 10:34am
I'm still having an issue which previous consorts whom died still generate an +2 ADM and a +1 DIP, the only mod I have on is this one. I have all the DLCs and I'm currently playing Portugal.
Conner♿ 10 Jan, 2024 @ 4:44pm
It was indeed a conflict with a mod thanks @Mr.ButterNips
Mr.ButterNips 10 Jan, 2024 @ 3:54pm
@Adult Diaper Lover it is probably a mod conflict i have not had this issue.
Conner♿ 10 Jan, 2024 @ 3:54pm
I'm having a bug where previous consort powers are not gone and because of that I have insane military power from +2 and +3 consort power from 2 previous consorts
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 17 Dec, 2023 @ 3:52pm
@Echo Glad to hear! Sorry about all of that
Echo 17 Dec, 2023 @ 7:17am
It actually seems to work after the update. Thanks!
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 15 Dec, 2023 @ 8:31am
@Echo I looked in the files and did some test runs, but I wasn't able to replicate what you are seeing on your end. Instead, I found an unrelated mistake. Besides that, everything was working as intended on my end.

I have updated the mod just in case the Workshop build is the one that is messed up, since my personal build works on my end with just the mod enabled, and nothing else. I have also updated the screenshots so the tooltips are accurate, to avoid confusion. As you can see in the screenshots, they are appearing correctly on my end. Hopefully the update fixes the issues on your end.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 15 Dec, 2023 @ 8:05am
Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it. Also, just to note the screenshots are an older version and the modifiers are named differently now
Echo 15 Dec, 2023 @ 2:53am
For addition context: I'm not seeing the "power difference" modifiers as in the screenshots. Playing as England, instead I have +3 from the ruler and +4 from the consort, whereas it apparently should be just another +1 from the consort difference.

Actually, I think the calculations are borked.
For ADM, it adds up the values.
For DIP, it's adding a +1 difference to DIP despite the consort having 1 LESS dip value. So it seems like it's taking the absolute value difference.
For MIL, it's working as expected (coincidentally).
Echo 15 Dec, 2023 @ 2:49am
Looks like the mod isn't working as intended. Looking at the tooltips, the values for the ruler and consort are added together, rather than choosing the highest one. Obviously, this changes the balance of the game quite significantly.
Echo 11 Dec, 2023 @ 10:13am
Sharing stats is a great idea.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 30 Nov, 2023 @ 8:25pm
Updated to 1.36
Also, now that on_actions are additive in 1.36, I have replaced the triggered modifiers with on_actions, which should help with performance while still keeping it compatible with all other mods
OLIVEIRA(PT) 29 Nov, 2023 @ 3:56pm
can you upthatd please tanks
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 10 Jun, 2023 @ 6:12pm
@The meme This mod should still work for earlier versions of EU4
Sleepytime tea bear shot dead 10 Jun, 2023 @ 2:25pm
i wish there were a version for the older 1.35.4
fisto the robo 4 Jun, 2023 @ 2:14pm
i suppose this could be considered a nerf to harem monarchies, since they dont have any kind of 'first consort' mechanic.
Samuel.N.Neugebauer 28 May, 2023 @ 1:37pm
An idea: perhaps there could be a legitimacy penalty based upon how many monarch points are being given by consorts. You know, if a rular is weak, even if he has a strong consort, his ability and right to govern can come increasingly to question.

Another idea: consorts could take on the role of advisors, except they are free.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 28 May, 2023 @ 12:59pm
Nice, thanks for the suggestion!
Akira Blaze 28 May, 2023 @ 12:39pm
Thanks! I did similar work to capitals expanded so i know how annoying a list full of not in use triggered modifiers can be haha
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 28 May, 2023 @ 12:37pm
@Akira Blaze That's a good idea. I have now patched the mod so the modifiers only appear when they are activated.
I have also enabled the modifieres for Tribal governments too.
Akira Blaze 28 May, 2023 @ 10:25am
Would you be willing to put a potential that's the same as the requirements into your triggered modifiers? it would serve to hide all of the modifiers while they are not active so you can more easily look at other triggered modifiers ^^
Balinor 17 May, 2023 @ 7:20pm
Interesting concept, but maybe if possible setting it up so that it adds ruler and consort stats for the monarch point category and divides it by two instead of just straight giving the higher of the two stats.
Waruiko 6 May, 2023 @ 11:10am
This is amazing and I wish I know about it sooner
Lukecis 6 May, 2023 @ 1:50am
Mark another mod as "should be in the base game" idk why they dont provide any kind of benefit besides random events once in a century or so, considering their other games like CK2 already provide bonuses depending on the consort.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 2 May, 2023 @ 3:36pm
Now that you mention it, I should probably allow it for tribes too. Didn't really think about that, thanks
Reaverslayer 2 May, 2023 @ 4:47am
Ahh ok it works in ET too just not for Tribes only for "real" monarchies. Tested it today, it was just a user error not a mod error XD
FuntimeByzantium 2 May, 2023 @ 3:50am
oooohh, this mod works only for monarchies, i got it, im blind, the usual
FuntimeByzantium 2 May, 2023 @ 3:49am
hmmm, it works for monarchies just fine, but not hordes
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 1 May, 2023 @ 4:33pm
@Reaverslayer It should work with ET, since I play solely with ET. I can test it again in a bit
Reaverslayer 1 May, 2023 @ 10:47am
@FuntimeByzantium Same for me but i only tried it with Extended Timteline maybe it doesnt work with ET.
FuntimeByzantium 28 Apr, 2023 @ 3:46am
does the mod works for everyone? for some reason i dont get consort power
Scr(A)tch 28 Apr, 2023 @ 2:05am
Nice one. Lowers variance from rulers which is one of my major gripes in this game.
Would it be possible to also apply Personality Traits? I just got a Fertile Consort and was like 'how can it only apply if she becomes ruler?'.
Also I have a very minor criticism, I think the tooltip should be '[Consort Name]'s [Administrative] Skill' to be more consistent with the existing one.
1nqu1s1t0r 25 Apr, 2023 @ 4:14pm
this basically would make anglican more op since you could swap consorts for max power
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 23 Apr, 2023 @ 1:45pm
Update: Fixed DIP modifier being incorrectly applied to ADM difference
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 23 Apr, 2023 @ 1:43pm
@TheElementNrOne Thanks very much for letting me know! I'll look into it and update the mod once I figure out what is wrong.
TheElementNrOne 22 Apr, 2023 @ 6:45pm
Hello, I tried your mod in my new england game, where I start with a 0 0 0 ruler. Out of luck I got a 6 1 5 consort. But somehow the difference for ADM is not beeing applied correctly on ADM. Instead the difference for ADM is applied on DIP (together with the DIP difference, so in this case +6 & +1). The MIL calculation seems to work fine though (in this case +5).
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 18 Apr, 2023 @ 9:44pm
Updated mod to 1.35
Ckasaron 14 Apr, 2023 @ 3:32pm
Another idea I highly suggest - increase the base monarch point gains, as well as that from the estate privileges, but then correspondingly decrease the range of values monarchs or republic leaders can have. Real nations did not necessarily implode because of insane kings if the royal council was competent enough, like Portugal under Maria the Mad.

I'd suggest a base monarch point gain of +6 instead of +4, each estate privilege giving +2 in a category, and then reducing the range of king/king+consort to 0-3 from the current 0-6 range.
Worlds Smuggest Detective  [author] 12 Apr, 2023 @ 11:20am
@see two I think I will do that, thanks for the suggestion.
I was considering this but the reason I didn't was to make this compatible with every mod, since making them events that trigger immediately after consort joins or dies would use the on_action file, which is different for mods like Extended Timeline (which I pretty much solely play with nowadays).
But I can make the events trigger non-immediately anyways to keep it cross-compatible.
