@Tompalmer,
Are you using a beta version of the game?
I could experience the CTD when starting a new have on this and some other custom maps on the current 0.9.0.16 beta, but it works fine in the official 0.9.0.15 version... Not sure what the problem is, I'll report it to the game developers.

If you want to continue on 0.9.0.16, I was able to get it to work around it by starting or loading a game in another map, and then go back to main menu and start a game on this map.

@exiom123, if you click the city names, you can uncheck "Allow citizens to move into this city"

@des, It's a pity, but maybe if I ever learn how to make maps, I'll make it myself.

@Цербя
Sounds nice, but I'm not familiar with Mount and Blade, and won't be doing a map of it

Hello, comrade, how about making a map of Calradia, from Mount and blade?
I actually wanted to make it myself, but creating maps on my own is not my thing.

Very impressive. I especially like the aqueduct at Bravos. I will be playing this map a lot.

@ChrisPBacon, I see your point, and I did stretch the scale a bit to increase land area, which I think should be enough for most cases - people tend to use less than 10% of the land area focusing in 1 or 2 main locations, specially in realistic mode where you can't just buy buildings and need to wait for them to get gradually built... In this map tried to make it challenging and push people to spread out more through the map due to both scattered resources and limited land area.
But yes, if you play until 2100 and with 1M population you might need to raise the sea to get more land area...

It's a beautifully sculpted map, but I don't feel like the scale works very well for this game. I think if this were scaled down to individual kingdoms, rather than a continent with some change it would work better for playing, and you'd actually have room to industrialize.
