Political Compass - Mort's Ideologies

Actually, I just noticed, people who get elected don't seem to actually get *unassigned* from their previous roles, they just lose access to their powers. The "lost [x] role" mood only shows up after you appoint someone else. Not sure if that's of any note, but I figured I should mention it.
2_Modray 9 Jul @ 12:58pm
Huh. Guess I just got lucky then.
Mort Strudel  [author] 9 Jul @ 8:46am
@2_Modray Not sure if it ever worked like that, it certainly wasn't ever intended to.
2_Modray 9 Jul @ 5:22am
I remember previous versions would leave the elections officer unelectable (I actually used this to prevent re-elections one run, though I mostly used it so I could keep my moral guide in the early game). Is the elections officer being electable now intentional? Hell, am I tripping and was it always this way?
NO 4 Jul @ 12:09pm
@Mort Strudel My bad, totally missed that. Thank you.
Mort Strudel  [author] 3 Jul @ 10:44pm
@NO Are you running any VE precepts that automatically set the leader of your colony? Look for stuff like Leader: Best Crafter and such. Any VE Leader precept will not work correctly with a Leader precept from this mod.
NO 3 Jul @ 8:26pm
@Mort Strudel
I'm running a Corporate structure from Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Memes and Structures with the Authority(dictatorship) meme.
The CEO(Leader) role keeps switching to different pawns. Any ideas?

Invalid pawn assigned to CEO role. pawn=Thing_Human3902

@Mort Strudel that fixed it  . Guess because it was technically already the most recent version it didn't auto-update.
Mort Strudel  [author] 17 Jun @ 9:53am
@Megabot @MathmagicianNWS I'm unable to reproduce this bug. Perhaps your machine is still running the old version of the mod?Try unsubscribing from the mod, allowing the game to update to remove it, then re-subscribing.
MathmagicianNWS 17 Jun @ 8:18am
Sorry if you've already addressed this somewhere, but is it a bug that whenever my colonists complete the election day ritual either as an "any time" ritual or as a scheduled ritual, they go through the motions and I get a notification that the ritual is complete but I don't get a message telling me the quality of the ritual nor does anyone actually get elected?
Megabot 16 Jun @ 9:18am
@mort strudel

I just tried it and it seems to persist unfortunately.
Mort Strudel  [author] 15 Jun @ 7:03pm
@Shazbot!

Thanks, should be fixed now, let me know if the issue persists for you
Shazbot! 15 Jun @ 12:28pm
For 1.5 users that is, yeah.
Shazbot! 15 Jun @ 12:27pm
Last update broke shit.

On the topic of VE Ideology, having the Republic meme gives you three leaders, it'd be nice if they were all elective instead of just the ordinary one.
Mort Strudel  [author] 31 May @ 4:49pm
@gar782003
@ 2_Modray

Genuinely unsure what's causing this, I can reproduce it but nothing in the XML of either mod suggests to me why this would be the case. I'll need to do some more digging.
2_Modray 31 May @ 2:24am
Any chance you could make the liberty meme compatible with Vanilla Ideology Expanded's egalitarian meme? It seems odd to me that you can't both be egalitarian *and* have a democracy.
GregYFake 20 May @ 2:24pm
How do i set a leader to the group i couldn't find a way:steambored:
Paniekjonk 21 Apr @ 7:51am
I am still experiencing the bug where no leader is selected after Democracy election (AKA, the leader is chosen but the role is not applied), anyone else too?
Alpharius 17 Apr @ 3:20pm
@Kaelyn the Dove nah, this is pretty much what they are. I'd say mort had a fairly decent political understanding to simplify them enough for rimworld.
gar782003 6 Apr @ 5:59am
Ironically, with the vanilla meme expanded mod the meme egalitarianism and liberty is incompatible. Who could have guessed?
Kaelyn the Dove 17 Dec, 2024 @ 9:23pm
this is what happens when people with negative political understanding try to play with adult concepts

Stachman 2 Oct, 2024 @ 4:07pm
silly goofyass industrialists and their "political compass", from were im from on this part of the rim we, go hunting, stab people, forage for food, kill bad tribe, meditate under tree, get psychic powers and worship God.
Mort Strudel  [author] 29 Aug, 2024 @ 7:52pm
@ken9358

The meme you're looking for is Wealth Equality, with the Housing Equality: Strict precept for maximum effect. From there, if you're looking to play as something with the flavor of, for example, the USSR, you could go for Authority and get the Leader: Dictator precept, or if you want an idealistic egalitarian situation you can get Liberty and either Leader: Democracy or Leader: Anarchy.
starcaft21 26 Aug, 2024 @ 5:00am
Where is communism ideology I don’t which one
DeathTomato 22 Jul, 2024 @ 11:03pm
Fuck yeah! Thanks for fixing that, mort!
Mort Strudel  [author] 22 Jul, 2024 @ 9:53pm
[Auto-generated text]: Update on 7/22/2024 9:51:57 PM.

Fixed a bug that caused elections to throw an error instead of actually assigning a leader.
tri_idias 18 Jul, 2024 @ 5:12am
Same issue, no one got assigned as the leader.
FUnKy67 9 Jul, 2024 @ 7:48pm
also having issues with the elections
sheepforlunch 8 Jul, 2024 @ 8:24pm
I just held an election but nobody got assigned the leader role, so when I just guessed and gave some random colonist the role everyone got a massive mood de-buff. I don't know what happened because after the ritual occurred, nobody gained the role.

I have the liberty meme and nothing else but I don't know why this is occurring
Simbach Vazo 4 Jul, 2024 @ 11:45am
I don't know that this still gets updates or anything but, would it be possible to remove the slavery requirement on Liberty or to make elections available without the precept? I know that's a very Rimworld-player thing to say but I kinda wanna do something like Athens or Rome.
Wervdon 30 Jun, 2024 @ 7:51am
I'm having the same issue where an election is held then just stops with no outcome.

Debug output from when the ritual abruptly ends -- I am playing with like 300+ mods so it easily could be a conflict, but not sure how to narrow that down without a million reloads:

Error while applying ritual outcome effect: System.TypeLoadException: Could not resolve type with token 01000016 (from typeref, class/assembly RimWorld.OutcomeChance, Assembly-CSharp, Version=1.4.8509.26899, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null)

Is this the mod that add the precept "Royalty: Hated"?
Killer Tamashi 27 Jun, 2024 @ 1:34am
What counts as homelessness? Do sleeping spots in a room not count?
Mc_Dyno 20 Jun, 2024 @ 7:43am
Suggestion: you should add the ability to use silver to influence elections and also the ability for elections to swing to more authoritarian or more anarchist.

If your colony spends a bunch of silver to influence an election there is a chance that it will be noticed but it also increases the chance that canidate will succeed in the election.

For vanilla empire: if you spend silver to influence the election of an authoritarian or monarchist faction, you will be rewarded with honor but other factions will hate you but if you influence an election to help a democratic or anarchist win, the empire will probably send an assasin or a divine inferno to your location.

SO REALISTIC!!
Mc_Dyno 20 Jun, 2024 @ 7:39am
Finally I can larp as anarchist rebels who want to destroy the empire! Yippeeee!

Even though I think the political compass is a braindead meme used by equally brain dead centrists to classify other political ideologies like pokemon types, this is pretty nuanced.
Lyn the Cookie 16 Jun, 2024 @ 7:33am
Now we just need a Focus Tree mod
bubbli 5 Jun, 2024 @ 3:00am
they finally added brainrot to rimworld
DeathTomato 14 May, 2024 @ 1:38pm
same issue as smeghead unfortunately
Smeghead 14 Apr, 2024 @ 1:43am
I'm having the same issue as homescar. Got Liberty and Democracy but when I hold the election event; no one is chosen.
Also, the game doesn't seem to treat it as a proper ritual as the election doesn't give any mood buff/debuff, nor any developement points and the ritual doesn't get a "letter" notification upon completion, only a message
Teiya, the Blue Dragon 13 Apr, 2024 @ 9:11am
Would it be possible to change which faction is considered for royal titles for Monarchy ideos? For factions with their own custom titles, in case you don't wanna work with the Shattered Empire
Roxxagon 8 Apr, 2024 @ 10:54am
yooooo
StarOri 1 Apr, 2024 @ 2:42pm
Hello, thanks for this mod I love the idea!
I tried a bit and there seems to be a conflict with rimocracy sadly though.. I tried to play a Dictatorship Authority and cannot set the leader, rimocracy intervenes with its own leader mechanics and breaks this mod leader (always getting the -12 no leader debuff) :'(

Could you take a look? I'm available for any help needed!
homescar 28 Mar, 2024 @ 5:00pm
@Mort i do have the Democracy precept and Liberty in the main ideo, however after doing the Voting event at an alter or normal gathering spot nobody is given the position.
Mort Strudel  [author] 28 Mar, 2024 @ 4:29pm
@homescar It should just set the appropriate pawn as leader automatically. does your colony's main ideoligion have the Democracy precept? Most of the election stuff was coded with that assumption so I could see edge cases breaking things if you're trying to do the Election Day when this is not the case
homescar 27 Mar, 2024 @ 11:15pm
how do i find out who won the democratic elections? each time i perform one i get the "election has ended" message but no matter who i make leader everyone is unhappy because it was undemocratic. Is there a menu somewhere i am missing that lists who won the election?
