Going off of what the guy two comments below me posted, maybe a second style where the flannel extends to the length of Soldier's coat/uniform thing could work? It does look a bit awkward and now that I think about it all of his outfits that change his whole uniform (ie more than just the cuffs and collar) also extend below his tactical belt thingy. Otherwise I see no issue.

while this looks great, i think it being the length of a normal flannel hurts it, as the Soldier's coat extending down makes the flannel just look awkward for cutting off at that height

maybe extend it all the way down, that way it could also be funny
