i make effects, and this makes me feel a few ways. to start, i LOVE the expressiveness of this effect. it's bouncy, it matches the vibe it wants to convey, fantastic! but let's get into the real thing about this: 3D.
personally, i hate 3D. why make an effect do what cosmetics have for 15 years? it seems redundant, turning effects into the floating ghost items from Halloweens long ago.
for this, i think it was done beautifully given its highly animated nature. however , i think it could have been just as effective by using a singular high-detail sprite along with the extra particles, like the expanding circles from the speakers.
this is a very cool effect, but i feel that the idea of 3D needs to be considered a little more by everyone. i'd love to hear what the creators of this think on that matter.
