Theres actually a fix for the fullbright grenade.
In the new hl2 leaks the original texture of the grenade's world model is present.A small red light would be glowing on the top of the grenade,but because the texture didnt included or corrected in the final game,the grenade is fully bright.The VMT still has the selfillum parameter.

You can mix both together if you manually install the restored crowbar or sub to it first and then this.

Im pretty it wasnt used because the Crowbar would have needed to be re-UVed to have the newer texture match the worn edges, which Valve didnt bother to do, my evidence being how screwed up the head UV is compared to the outdated wireframe in the repo, also means its probably not how it was envisioned to look as it is in my addon but, model would need to be modified and then it wouldnt work with reanimation mods so... not restored enough tbh,

@HollyBlocky: Thanks. That z-fighting is a mesh issue that can't be fixed without model editing.

@Nebo Strelok ☢: Huh. That's interesting but I'm guessing Valve thought the older texture looked better.

Ive come here to say the the Crowbar handle is actually incorrect, Valve actually gave the retail crowbar the 2002 handle while the handle texture that was meant to go with the retail head went unused.

Should also add a bit of illumination to the front sight of the .357, to be consistent with the rest of the weapons with similar sights.

Speaking of, astounding it took over a decade to "fix" the trigger area on the magnum worldmodel, I'm curious why valve just reused the HL1 mesh with zero polish.

@Ƶeitgeist: I didn't include every higher resolution texture available because they didn't fit the goals of the addon for one reason or another.

If you want to use any of these textures, just give credits.

Also you greyed out the tritium sights on the pistol worldmodel when recoloring it to match the viewmodel.

I dont want to mention this but, the worldmodels in the thumbnail is NOTHING like the actual worldmodels from this mod when loaded in-game, Sorry.

@HollyBlocky: The w_model uses the same textures as the v_model, but IIRC isn't programmed to use the superheated bolt textures that kick in once a bolt is reloaded on the v_model.

i'm glad that this addon bothered to actually use proper normal maps, a lot of the other hd texture addons that i see just regenerate normals from the albedo map, and it ends up looking really scuffed

@MRcedaguy: Sorry but no. Valve didn't build high resolution textures for the weapons in L4D2, only the L4D1 weapons. Without that there would be very little to make it different than any AI upscaled texture addon, and the HD textures for the L4D1 weapons have been on the L4D2 workshop for a while now.

@Nebo Strelok ☢: The problem was the illumination mapping was still based on the regular Gravity Gun instead of the supercharged version. Should be fixed now.
