Anybody an idea?
"THIS PATCH IS NO LONGER NECESSARY - THE ORIGINAL MOD IS BEING UPDATED BY LUIR AND CAN BE FOUND HERE."
My computer broke soon after I brought these issues up. I'm on a new computer now and I'm not sure when I'm going to start playing Civ again, but I'll let you know when I start messing with it again if these issues persist.
I've had a quick look into how EU works, I should be able to add the code for custom civs but I don't have much free time to do it currently.
To set one of the GoT civs to use the art of a vanilla civ simply go to "C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\A Mod of Ice and Fire (BNW) Unofficial Patch (v 5)". In that folder there will be an 'xml' file for each civ which can be opened in notepad. Replace the text between the 'ArtStyleSuffix' tags with the name of the civ you wish to use (e.g. for the Starks using Germany change the text from '_EURO' to '_GERMANY').
If you want to test out your modified skins then you can overwrite the existing ones in the EU mod folder.
When I get time I'll try and make it so that the GoT civs are assigned their own art so that existing EU skins don't need to be overwritten.
I was kinda hoping that Sweden uses different skins than Denmark.:\
But it seems that changing skins on some civs will be inevitable. I can start working on them tomorrow, it won't be hard i believe.
The North - German skins. (Cavalry reskinned, and reskinned Danish Longswordsman)
Free Folk - Denmark (reskinned)
Riverlands - Vanilla
The Vale - Vanilla
Iron Islands - Denmark (reskinned)
Westerlands - England
Stormlands - France (reskinned)
Reach - France (reskinned)
Dorne - Songhai and Persian Knight
Dothraki - Huns
Targeryen - Byzantium (reskinned)
Let me know if you have any other ideas.:)
Poland and Portugal both use vanilla units until late game so screenshots weren't needed.
I know how to fix it.
I've just need this files
UnitPortraits45_DLC_02.dds
UnitFlagAtlasWhite32_DLC_02.dds
UnitPortraits64_DLC_02.dds
UnitPortraits80_DLC_02.dds
UnitPortraits128_DLC_02.dds
UnitPortraits256_DLC_02.dds
Could you send them to me by skype or smth else?
I should be able to change individual skins for those with a few skins that don't fit.
As for the ones I found proper match:
The Westerlands - England
Iron Island - Denmark (it should be good)
The North - Germany (almost all skins are fine except for the Knight the Horseman and the Longswordsman-> they use teutonic skins)
The Stormlands and the Reach could both use reskinned French or Spanish skins.
Dorne - Songhai units fit well, and for the Knight I think the Persian Knight skin fit in colors.
Dothrakii - The Huns, definetely the Huns.:D
Targeryen - In Asoiaf they only use Unsullied, Dothrakii, and mercenary units so I can't really decide what to do in their cas.:\
I made a quick list, but a could not ind pics from all of the EU units. So if I may ask you could you make screenshots from a few civs units please?
I would take a look at the following civs:
Austria
Babylon
Byzantium
Denmark
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Sweden
I'm trying to find out which civs would fit to the remaining GoT civs, which are The Crownlands, The Vale, The Riverlands and The Free Folk.
As for getting permission to use modified art, I'm not sure if the EU creator is still active so that may prove difficult. But I can atleast uploaded it seperately to mediafire or maybe just risk it and include it in the workshop version (including thanks to the EU dev and artists ofc).
I have finally found a site where all the EU units are lsited with pictures, so i can take a look at them. Right now I'm making a list of which would look nice with which.:)
And if EU developers would give you a permission to modify their dds-es, (only the colors of course), I would gladly help you, with the artwork.:)
Only BNW
I am playing this mod with my friend for a long time and it is only one error we have seen,BUT it is so annoying, when you have to click about one hundred times per second to disable this error. So i will be very thankful if you help to solve it.
Ok,there it is:
Unable to load texture [UnitPortraits256_DLC_02.dds]
It is about mountain knight
Here are screenshots of some of the civs (the ones using Zulu skins are ones without a vanilla civ with matching colour):
Image 1. [i.gyazo.com]
Image 2. [i.gyazo.com]
Even the ones that have matching colours have units which don't fit the civ/the ASoIaF world.
You could try out, egyptian or arabian knight skins.:o
Let me know when are the sreenshots available.:)
As for making the Dornish knight look like the Songhai UU, the Sand Steed (Dornish horsemen replacement) already uses that skin. I don't want two different units using the same skin :/
I believe the dds files contain the skins of units and the units colors could be changed by Photoshop. It would be a pain in the ass work though.:\ Though it would be awesome if you could replace the skin of the Dornish knight with the UU of Songhai. Is it possible somehow? :)
BUT
Have a error
Portret of a new mountain knights
For the Westerlands, I'd recommend Englands skins, they look nice and they fit in colors.
For the Ironborn Denmark would be ideal.
For Dorne I'd say Songhai but it lacks the skin of Knight because its an UU for the Songhai civ. It is a great misfortune because I think the European looking knight in Dorne is the most disturbing.:D
For the Reach I always imagined them as the French of Westeros, but the French skins are blue, and the reach skins are green.:\
For the others I have no heavenly idea.:o Maybe the Dothraki the Huns, and the Targeryens Babylonean.:) i have not played with these civs yet. Btw the Unsullied with the immortal skins look ridicioulus.:(
I now just need to decide what art style the civs will use, but I don't know what all the civs look like as I haven't used EU before. Any ideas for which civs art I should assign to the new civs?
You said somewhere that the Lannisters replace the Chinese civ. If ethnic units puts chinese skins on Lannister units that will look kinda funny. Are you going to change that somehow?
You could try the following steps:
1) Delete the contents in 'C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache'.
2) Verify the integrity of the game through steam.
3) Unsubscribe from this patch, run the game, wait for the mods list to update, resubscribe, wait for the modlist to update again. Then try looading your save again.
1.) Texture for one of Littlefinger's units won't load.
2.) Special units, like the horseback archer and sworn sword for the lanisters show up as spearmen.
3.) [biggest complaint] I saved my Lannister game and had upwards of 60+ happiness. Just reloaded it and I'm now at -57 :/
If you are then could you upload your save so that I can try to find the cause and fix it? (If you are not sure how to upload it then you can follow the instructions I gave to Lord Gritzke on page 2 of the comments).
Want to say I appreciate the patch and work though.
Go to 'C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache' and delete all of the db files (except 'Civ5ModsDatabase' and 'Civ5SavedGameDatabase').
Does it work correctly the first time after doing that? (like it did after first reinstalling the game)
