The class icon was never important to class recognition. It's on the shoulder of the class and unless you're looking at a 64x64 location on the shoulder of the class to identify them, then you have problems.

If the class icon on cosmetics matters, how do you then explain Pyro's Space Diver cosmetic? That one legit have a Banana on it instead of Pyro's Usual Class Emblem.
Sub Zero Suit also is another cosmetic that lacks of a class emblem, and yet people still recognizes them.
