You will want to have both Halo 3 campaign and MP installed. After both are installed, restart the game. Then go into CREATIVE > FORGE > HALO 3 > MODDED MAPS > Standoff AI Battlefield.

@brute Play in Forge. When in the pregame lobby, set both player and editor traits to strong permanent active camo. Also set the player and editor to be invulnerable to damage. Now you’ll be able to watch without the AI engaging you or accidentally killing you.

Great News - I have just updated this mod to be compatible with the February 28th patch of the MCC. The mod will now once again show up in the menus and be playable. Enjoy!

@OldPayphone No, it works fine. You didn’t read the description where it says you have to join the Green Team for UNSC allies, and Purple for Covenant. Do that and you’ll be all set.

No worries! I appreciate your feedback and take it seriously. Community feedback is a large part of how I make these maps better. I will look into seeing if the Spartans can be made a bit more fair. That makes sense. I need to read more because I didn't even realize the button switches were a feature. I greatly appreciate the customizability of this mod, sorry for being blind on that front.

There's a chance I might consider turning the Spartans (and maybe ODSTs) off all together. Your suggestion for using the Plasma Pistol noob combo would work well, but I never thought of doing that in the game because I realized that it would leave me vulnerable to the other regular unshielded UNSC enemies that shrug off plasma weapons. I ended up resorting to the Power Drain for Spartans which works wonders, but I didn't always have one on hand and ODST were just tanking an entire magazine of Battle Rifle headshots like it was nothing. I really wish custom multiplayer could've afforded the player an infinite equipment option or the problems I was having could be solved.

@Usernamehere Hey there. I'll do my best to address your concerns here.

The game difficulty is normal. I would love to have it running on Heroic, but as far as what I know right now this cannot be changed unless I port the mod to the singleplayer ecosystem. I'd rather keep it in multi so normal will have to do for now.

The Spartans are supposed to be the UNSC's equivalent of Hunters, so being strong is kind of intended. I have had other players tell me the mod is too easy in the past, so I feel that the current iteration is a good middle ground. Of course I could look into making the Spartans easier, but that defeats their purpose of being special forces a bit. I'd recommend either carrying around a Plasma Pistol/Carbine combo when playing as the covies, or switching them off via their corresponding control switch if you find them too annoying and want them gone all together. They are also highly susceptible to being roadkilled.

Just fought one of the custom Spartan enemies and I sliced him with a sword, then shot him with a shotgun, and he still didn't die and proceeded to oneshot me who was at full health and shields with his own shotgun.

I'm thinking this mod might be a little too hard.

What difficulty are these set to or based on? It feels like I get melted WAY too fast like this is on Heroic or Legendary or something.

Standoff fans! I have just updated this mod to be compatible with the MCC patch released yesterday. This map will now show up in the menu and be playable just like before. Enjoy.

it would be cool if you somehow made the gate levers able to be used more than once and maybe add more doors though idk if thats within your expertise

@SquigglyV Blue team can get allied AI, yes. But currently there is no way to ally any AI with Red team. I’ve tried to overcome this, but right now I don’t know how to fix it. The AI do not sync well for clients, so only the host will see proper AI behaviors. Clients will have lag and visual anomalies. This would be something 343 would need to fix. I apologize for the teams not working with both red/blue. I recommend sticking to either team slayer or forge in the meantime. I really appreciate your compliments tho, and I’m glad you and your friends still had a good time.

Great mod. Any chance that we could have blue and red teams as equivalents to green and purple respectively? Tried to play this in CTF with some friends but that gamemode doesn't support green and purple teams so both sides were hostile to everyone, which was admittedly cool in its own right (reminded me of Halo 5 Warzone mode) but it made for a pretty slow and difficult game considering the AI spawn locations are right above the two bases.

@Sgt. Rock It is carried by one of the Banshee pilots. There is about a 20% chance that he'll spawn with it. So track down where his weapon lands after being destroyed.

I had a blast trying this out. It took me way too long to figure out why both sides were firing at me, though. I played another mod of yours that used Red/Blue teams so I had to come back here to see what I was doing wrong. Also, at one point I drove off a cliff and instead of dying, I just hovered there and had to restart the map. Other than that to report, it was pure fun and I'll be checking out the rest of your mods!

@Sgt. Rock Coxler Nice to meet you! Thanks a million for making a Scarab Gun for Halo 3! It is a lot of fun to mess around with - I just had to incorporate it into a few of my mods. Excellent job! It functions just as I would imagine it would if Bungie themselves made a H3 SG.

@AlanSleep Absolutely! More fun AI mods are coming in the near future from me. I will be making them for all the Halos I can get AI working on! The Spartans are quite impressive, almost too overpowered sometimes. Check out my mod playlist right under the download button to see all of my stuff currently on the workshop. Of all mods this is probably the most impressive Spartan AI. Easily. They do better than the native Halo Reach ones.

From what I have seen in the modding tools, you should be able to set the difficulty of the NPCs, its like a little pull down tab that lets you choose between legendary, heroic, normal and easy, whenever you do all the steps to spawn the npc or entity in.

@The Tank Wolf Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoy it! Yes, the default difficulty is normal, and as far as I currently know there is no way to raise it ingame. I'd love to have the AI on Heroic or Legendary but I haven't figured out how to do it. I came to a similar conclusion as you - yes the Covenant are a bit too easy on this map. I'm going to look into buffing them to make it more equal when I get time to release the next update.

This is really a fantastic map, my only issue is the fact that the covenant are too easy to kill, Is their difficulty set on normal? Its the same when I fight the UNSC as the covenant, I'm able to just mow down covenant and UNSC left and right, doesnt really make it that much fun when all enemies are just pushovers

@Ecthelion75 Yes, I’ll definitely be making AI war mods on those games eventually. I’ve been a bit busy lately so maybe soon. I know already that H2 multiplayer doesn’t support AI placement, so I’ll have to mod the maps into campaign levels so the AI will spawn. I haven’t learned the H4 kit yet, but I assume it is nearly identical to Reach’s which I am proficient with.

@AlanSleep Yes they are a ton of fun indeed! I'm looking forward to including them in more of my H3 projects in the future. I've seen them use powerdrains and trip mines too. Sandtrap AI Battlefield was recently updated which added them in there. Also a must try!

Spartans are so dynamic on this. Its really fun to watch em fight. I was surprised that they could even deploy Regenerators

@BaconLover07 There is a Prowler placed on this map at the base the Covenant land at. It takes the place of the Warthog. Operation Whiteout - one of my other mods, also has a Prowler that spawns with AI in it. You can also place them in Forge. On my Sandtrap AI War map, you can place Prowlers in Forge also, give your marines Fuel Rods and create havoc.

can we get some prowlers in future mods? Its much cooler to load up two marines with Fuel Rods and what is essentially a heavy-spectre than it is a warthog

@Tenebria Also, the folder that contains the pieces is called cov_watchtower. Within that, there are cov_watchtower_base and a cov_watchtower_pod folders. Go inside those and add the .crate files to your scenario.
