For performance, I'd recommend using DirectX over Vulkan since that's been known to cause performance issues. Past that, it really depends on your hardware. The map can be demanding (especially at the end) but we tested it on a setup that ran below average and managed to scrape just enough performance for most players.
I played on hard, fed several headcrabs to barnacles and used fuel tanks to take down multiple enemies, I finished the game with 7 shotgun shells, around 50 pistol and 90 SMG rounds, but I agree that it was a nervous ride :)
Unlike others, I still had tons of ammo left over on Hard, so don't agree with the ammo scarcity comments.
theres not enough ammo to progress i had to kill headcrabs with bricks. and the fights dont have places to back off or get into proper cover, im stuck with combine in front of me and zombies behind me, with 1 pistol mag.
and honestly it wouldnt be a problem if the save reload wouldn't take 2-5 minutes, for a 30s of gameplay.
I enjoy the challenge but when the gameplay is 90% just the loading screen it's not fun.
The people responsible for making the map, placing assets, hiding resin and ammo did great.
The beginning was soooooo long and boring. Needed to be half-the-time. The Vort eye was silly and none of those effects worked well. Just terrible. Really awful.
The enemies were sometimes too difficult. They seemed to be better shots too.
I think the problem may have been that the testers got used to the map and needed more of a challenge. But for those who play it first, sometimes it seemed like bullshit.
And I like a challenging map, so I appreciate it when enemies are strong; but the last two major fights happening were bullshit. You have me jump down and I can't find a place to hide and figure anything out. It was *BULLSHIT* to set it up like that.
The reason I gave it a thumbs up was because those responsible for making the map areas did a very, very good job making it feel like a real place. It wasn't just a map, it was an environment!
Gorgeous visuals, tight gameplay. 10/10
