It’s not you, it’s the way it was created. I’ll have to take another shot now that I know more about modding.

Am I doin somethng wrong? I tried using this with 6 Digesters and 2 Distilleries to 1 enging and the engine burn through them in seconds. couldnt keep it stocked.

Honestly, IMO the fuel cans are kind of a nice feature, both for convenience and for giving weight to the fuel without needing a heavy gas mod.

Thanks for the feedback! We are going to be doing a full rework of the mod to fix some of the balance issues we currently have. I hope to get to it next week. I plan to remove the fuel cans and instead have biofuel work similarly to gasoline. If any of you want to provide recommendations for Power System Overhaul rebalance. Ideally, we would have all power systems touched to balance them. I like the idea to have it as an alternative.

I'd agree with BisonBiter about it being best used as an alternative fuel rather than trying to squeeze in another tier, probably best having it similar to hydrogen.

Realistically it should have a higher energy density than hydrogen (RL, liquid hydrogen is around 8 MJ/L, where biodiesel is around 34 MJ/L), but be heavier, and harder to produce.

As it is now, the production chain complexity you've got seems pretty good to me, but it might produce too much fuel. The energy density feels too low, however, and the fuel's weight is kind of silly... each unit is 20 kg and 200 L, which is about the density of fluffy snow.

Cool! Yeah I've been following your stuff with interest, will hop on the discord when I have time.

Meanwhile to finish my point which I forgot: The niche is being able to produce "oil fuel" when you don't have access to shale, in Space or on any planet that doesn't have it.

Thanks for the feedback! We are working on a bunch on mods and need to still balance them overall.

Personally I see this having a niche as a "alternative fuel" to existing oil-based rockets and engines, rather than being its own partial tier. Similar to modern aviation research, the idea of using alternative biofuels with minimal impact to the production/combustion line. Otherwise I see it being hard to thread the needle for much in-game time between making Oil totally useless and being a very poor alternative.

Consider where you want it to sit in the power hierarchy. Do you want it to be a step up from Hydrogen? a precursor? an alternative? DO you want it to burn fast and generate power quickly, or chug slowly, but the fuel sips along for more longevity but batteries might be needed to cover hill climbs or energy draw spikes?
Keep in mind fuel consumption speeds. One of the biggest challenges in the EV market has been charge times and charge longevity compared to how easy it is to pump petrol and how long a tank of gas will last, and that same problem translates over to the game vs Hydrogen as well. I've found that I prefer my "gas tank" for whatever my power GENERATION system is, to last an hour on a "small" tank. (large grid 1x small hydro tank, small grid 3x small tanks, or there abouts).

Once you now where you want it to sit relative to those factors, the rest is just doing the ratio math vs the other power systems.

I am having a hard time getting the balance working the way I want. I would like some feedback about balancing if anyone has an opinion.
