Adding four/five nations will be enough. Kidarites, ghassanids or some arabic tribe, White Huns, Armenia maybe also a norse tribe... Map is very empty
Bagatur Darğa 24 Jun @ 12:28am
To be honest, at least Armenia, Kidarites (Huns who rule the Kushans) and White Huns (Alchons etc.) are needed. Kidarites and White Huns (Hephthalites, Huna Empire, Alchon, Uuarhun) can be directly based on the Huns state and military structure.
antoniobarbarian  [author] 23 Jun @ 4:12pm
Not for the moment, but I do want to eventually remake it, but even then it would be just the vanilla factions since this is mostly a modding resource.
Bagatur Darğa 23 Jun @ 3:23pm
Do you still plan to update this mod? more factions like kidarites white huns yueban rouran would be realy good....

Do you still plan to update this mod? More factions would be really good...

Quick bug report, Ctesiphon for some reason starts with a Hun cavalry building and a Barbarian sanitation building. Kabalak has a Nomad Christian Shrine too.
Aristoxenus 13 Nov, 2024 @ 4:49am
I detected other lagging features.
-The Sassanids can only recruit Sughdian Warriors in Ctesiphon, in all other cities with maximum Royal Barracks you can only train the levy spearmen, so you have to send your Sughdian Warriors all the way back to Ctesiphon to retrain them
-Elephants, what happened? Did the Persians forgot how to recruit or train the pachydermic units?
fortebraccio1956 7 Nov, 2024 @ 12:33pm
Huns, White Huns, Blemye and Ghassanids are missing. Greece was part of the Eastern Empire. And with Mundus Magnus at least one Hindu Faction is necessary.
Aristoxenus 2 Nov, 2024 @ 3:55am
Hello, this mod has a lot of crashes when the enemy sallies out. In 3 occasions I couldnt fight a manual battle because it crashed. So for moments I could out maneuver the enemy while being with a small chance with autoresolve I had to flee or hoping the autoresolve would grant me victory
Vranac91 11 Oct, 2024 @ 4:47am
The modder is correct; Valentinian I's western half of the empire included the prefecture of Illyricum, which at the time included Greece. Valens had the prefecture of Oriens, which was only from Thrace eastwards. This is an accurate depiction of the year 365 AD.
antoniobarbarian  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 10:50am
Greece and Illyrcum were only assigned to eastern control later under Theodosius (Yes I was also surprised to find that out).
RMTH 2 Oct, 2024 @ 5:59pm
only a brazilian would give the WESTERN Roman Empire greece.
Guilherme01SS 29 Jul, 2024 @ 9:25pm
The Western Roman Empire borders are wrong, they have some Eastern Roman Empire provinces.
PandaDogxD 24 Jul, 2024 @ 1:02am
can the chivalry team or someone else use this mundus magnus map for the chivalry medieval mod
catanbros 30 Jun, 2024 @ 1:45pm
Hannibal Magus is spot on. The romans of either side literally steamed rolled everyone including the huns. Its like you made the AI comparable to stephen hawking. The mod provided a great landscape and not too big like the other mod or too small like vanilla and at the very least you included the loyalty system.

I had to manually edit the romans to be more expensive in their unit usage and also made the generals more than likely to rebel.

decent
CoolHandBaal 11 Jun, 2024 @ 5:55am
I like the mod alot, but when I get a few turns in as the Eastern Romans there is a glitch at the beginning of the turn whenever you click on Constantinople the game immediately crashes.
giorgioguagnini 28 Feb, 2024 @ 1:43am
Mod is awesome. But it would be even better if campaign started in early 400s, with a WRE way weaker and more christian, and more historical units!
Hannibal Magus 16 Feb, 2024 @ 9:52am
That was an unexpected and funny bug... happened for me too. I just wanted to look at some units so I did a custom battle. The map was completely underwater and all units immediately drowned during what was supposed to be the start screen. Well game didn't know what to do so it just locked in an endless loop of showing close ups drowned units ... I think they were supposed to be cheering before the battle.
Aristoxenus 12 Feb, 2024 @ 5:45pm
Another bug, the games crashes after turn 4 or 5 with the lombards
Aristoxenus 12 Feb, 2024 @ 4:48pm
Thats true what Hannibal Magus says.
When I played as the Romano-British, i kicked the Romans out of Britannia and in 20 turns later they were back at the english channel with 30 full stacks, including many Prime Cohorts
Aristoxenus 12 Feb, 2024 @ 4:44pm
I tried to make a custom battle, 3 units, 2 Lombards vs 1 franks, it has a big issue, the soldiers all start by swimming and no button can make it leave
Hannibal Magus 9 Feb, 2024 @ 3:38am
Playing as Ostrogoths, hard / hard difficulty.

My general feedback for this mod, or for any mod authors who want to develop a mod on this map:

- Western Roman Empire is OP. They aggressively expanded everywhere apart from in Britain. Western Roman Empire should be facing economic crises, and it should be struggling to cope with migrations of barbarians.
- Eastern Roman Empire also expanded into Sassanid territory, which in turn moved into India and central Asia.
- The hordes are too weak relative to the size of the Empires on the map. Maybe a few more stacks would be good.
- Saxons were killed off too early. Maybe give them a few more starting territories instead of only one.
- Is there anyway of preventing the AI from forming alliances and vassalizations between Romans and surrounding factions?
Hannibal Magus 5 Feb, 2024 @ 8:37am
Thank you for the mod, map looks wonderful.

I'd like to report what I consider as a bug: turn 1 Alemani and Scythians became vassals to Western Roman Empire. Turn 2 Berbers did the same...
antoniobarbarian  [author] 25 Dec, 2023 @ 12:19pm
@torn1147 Sure, and good luck on your mod. Also if you need, I did some basic research on the period for characters and factions that could be placed on the map, if you want I can share it with you.
torn1147 24 Dec, 2023 @ 4:58pm
Gonna use this as a base for my an upcoming mod that upgrades vanilla BI experience while keeping the time period and feel. Wanted to thank you for your work.
_Bastian_Chadalos_ 25 Nov, 2023 @ 2:57pm
What abut setting a mod during the time of Majorian? With a map this size with how the Roman world looked in the West. It would be awesome!
antoniobarbarian  [author] 2 Nov, 2023 @ 4:38pm
Thanks, my plan is to start at the late 300s, early 400s, maybe even just a port or remake of IB, though I do have some of these factions in mind to eventually, and yes, I would like to split the Celts into at least Picts and Gaels, and maybe some other smaller tribes too.
Aristoxenus 2 Nov, 2023 @ 4:05pm
Oh nice that would be awsome a late antiquity, it could be around 470ish.

Let me recommend you some factions that are mostly underrated

Factions as:
-Kingdom of Soissons (at war with franks)
-Bretons (Armorican ones)
-Visigoths
-Romano-Britons (starting at war with the saxons in Britain)
-Hispanians like Basque, Gallaeci/Cantabri tribes (You could use some units of "Spain" from Vanilla)
-Suebi (at war with the Hispanians)
-Western Roman Empire holding only the Italian peninsula and Dalmatia (if its 475 AD it would be Romulus Augustulus the faction leader)

Maybe splitting up the Celts as Picts and Gaels

PS: My knowledge stops at this geography, I also have an idea what looked the like the Northern Hispanian tribes units thx to a friend of the region.

Do not hesitate for help
antoniobarbarian  [author] 1 Nov, 2023 @ 8:13pm
Well, it's likely the amoutn of regions and the time that passed allowed them to fully develop then. I don't really have plans to update this or much ideas on how to rebalance it, and I'm planning on moving foward to a proper late antiquity overhaul, so don't expect much change on this.
Aristoxenus 1 Nov, 2023 @ 5:17pm
1-They (stupid WRE) barely lost anything, the only thing they lost is Britannia (because of me) and Aquitania to the Burgundii. They also allied to the Saxons and recently to the Franks (which shouldn't make sense as the franks are destined to settle in Gaul
2-Very hard

Also interesingly the ERE (which is kind, trades with me and are beating the Sassanids)
Oh and also the pirates are a real problem, vermine level (3 fleets or 20 ships each with golden chevron)
antoniobarbarian  [author] 1 Nov, 2023 @ 1:50pm
@Aristoxenus how much territory they have? Also what difficulty are you playing at?
Aristoxenus 1 Nov, 2023 @ 6:44am
Hi, I have some "issues" its 431 AD in Romano-British Kingdom, I have a last foothold in present day Normandy, and i am besieged by 15 Roman Armies, in each province they have that same number. Is it normal the AI can field so vastly huge armies? With all the British isles income I can barely field 2 armies. Any tips? Help?
antoniobarbarian  [author] 22 Aug, 2023 @ 7:59pm
Which areas?
abrahamcontrario 22 Aug, 2023 @ 1:47pm
not just custom battles. there is some areas of the main map I cant do battle.
Riekopo 18 Aug, 2023 @ 4:42pm
I think it might be good if there was another version of this mod without the extraneous changes/additions.
antoniobarbarian  [author] 18 Aug, 2023 @ 10:46am
@abrahamcontrario Custom Battles right? I forgot to add the files for custom battle locations
abrahamcontrario 17 Aug, 2023 @ 11:53pm
I would really like to play this map but I cant do battle since the screen fills up with water on the battle map. Does anybody know the cause of the problem?
attiladafun 1 Jul, 2023 @ 8:21am
Do you happen to have copy of the Mundus Magnus map for the base Roman campaign? If so, can you upload it somewhere? You did a good job on the map and I want to use it in my mod. Thanks
Turisas 31 May, 2023 @ 7:42am
Why does the western Roman Empire have Greece?
Less606 29 May, 2023 @ 5:33pm
Why does the western Roman Empire had Greece? Because because eastern Roman Empire should have Greece.
abrahamcontrario 23 May, 2023 @ 4:16pm
It doesn't let me play custom battles. the map automatically fills up with water and kills off all the units and then it freezes
»Total War Gameplay« 14 May, 2023 @ 8:22am
I like this mod. The map is very big but the mod needs more factions and especially more military units for the factions .
Aristoxenus 8 May, 2023 @ 2:45pm
There was no china in these borders back then I think. But to add the Vascones on one or 2 regions would be historically accurate as the Basques were a semi independant Kingdom/Tribe Collection as a part of a kind of agreement during the Roman conquest of Hispania, in exchange that the Vascones didn't joined the Cantabrians (Cantabrian and Asturian Wars)

You could just add Vanilla "Spain" rename it and change some troops (I know the troops of 5-6th century Basque,il help you with the research or knowledge)

PS, the Suebis also should be present, but as a horde faction
generalg2012 8 May, 2023 @ 2:37pm
Excellent base for a good mod. could definitely do with some more factions as stated. but also Arabs and Indians. could use some units from the other base games.
antoniobarbarian  [author] 8 May, 2023 @ 1:58pm
@Callistar that's something I do want to do, but it's still in the far off future, and likely as part of a larger late antiquity historical overhaul mod instead of this mod.
Callistar 25 Apr, 2023 @ 9:05pm
add china
Aristoxenus 20 Apr, 2023 @ 12:39pm
Oh no!!!!!! With all these lands you could have added the Basques in at least one or 2 regions in northern Iberia.
They were a vassal of Rome then fought the Visigoth and Franks.

Aside that, seems a good job! Congratulations!

You can either put them simply as Vanilla "Spain" or to reskin or make new historical units (My knowledge about it is quite good)
antoniobarbarian  [author] 8 Apr, 2023 @ 4:45pm
Same way as in the original game
abrahamcontrario 8 Apr, 2023 @ 12:41pm
how do you edit the map?
Riekopo 1 Apr, 2023 @ 7:01pm
wow thank you so much for making this. so excited to play BI on the new map
