Probably not relevent at all, but miscleaneus, this mod when used with Fallen eagle mod, causes a fever event thingy to popup twice evertime you win a war?
Captain One Ear 9 Jul @ 5:35am
is it finally possible to do saga in stone achievement?
Muse  [author] 6 Jul @ 12:51pm
@Samuel L Right now it's just set to have them abdicate 2/3 of the time. I plan to add more options later. That will be after the next big update though. Currently, I trying to sort of reverse-engineer multi-option decisions like the one for setting up a competitor religion in the Iranian Intermezzo. This way I can have multiple variants of abdications for different "justifications" for abdication.
Samuel L 4 Jul @ 3:09am
What conditions will ai abdicate if you allow ai to abdicated sometimes? Can you make it... very rare-ish?
Muse  [author] 11 Jun @ 12:19pm
at least not dynamic enough to account for every possible combination of claim-based opinion maluses. I could do one just based on highest conflicting claim rank
Muse  [author] 11 Jun @ 12:17pm
@Kelven I'll look into adding a flat opinion modifier besides the one that the post-abdication event gives, but I don't think a dynamic modifier is possible
Kelven 2 Jun @ 2:46pm
@Muse
Yeah, I understand that. The claims themselves make sense. It's the -30 relationship hit that doesn't make sense, since the old ruler (me) voluntarily abdicated to the new ruler (also me). Maybe add a relationship buff that decays over time, to offset the negative hit to relations at least for a few years?

I mean, at the end of the day I guess it doesn't really matter, since the old ruler would be unlanded in your own court so if the negative relation hit could cause issues, you could just imprison him or something. But it's still kinda silly that he hates me for having claims on titles he literally just gave up, lol.

Regardless, thanks for the mod :)
Muse  [author] 2 Jun @ 2:32pm
@Kelven
Claims are left on the ruler to simulate historical scenarios like what happened to Murad II of the Ottoman Empire. He abdicated in favor of his son, Mehmed II, but after a war broke out, the Ottoman Janissaries and upper classes forced him back into the throne.
Kelven 30 May @ 8:33pm
Works perfectly for me on 1.16.2.2

One request if it's possible: After abdicating, my old ruler stays in my court, which is fine. HOWEVER he has a -30 relation to me because he has claims to all my titles. It would be nice if, when abdicating, the old ruler is stripped of claims to avoid this relation hit (which only makes sense, since they're abdicating)
Muse  [author] 4 May @ 5:53am
I haven't tested it with nomad government types but it still should work in feudal admin & clan just fine
-=Illumifant=- 4 May @ 4:47am
Does this mod need to be updated for the latest DLC? Probably, right?
Fat lizard 28 Mar @ 9:26am
I fixed my issue about female abdication, just had to reload the save file
Fat lizard 28 Mar @ 9:12am
I found a weird thing, you can't abdicate if you're a woman? I'm assuming it's not intentional. Anyway this is the best abdication good work:steamthumbsup:
Schmeeda 27 Mar @ 5:12pm
Love the effort put into this. Really needed an abdication mod for my EK2 playthrough. All these damn elves live too long lol.
Muse  [author] 5 Mar @ 1:36pm
@|Warden| Yes
|Warden| 5 Mar @ 5:37am
Does this still work?
BlueTh4nus 1 Feb @ 2:47pm
I can now larp as Diocletian, thanks!
十八决明 31 Jan @ 12:48am
In fact, there have been successions in various empires, and this mod restores this very well
Muse  [author] 12 Jan @ 5:00am
@LordPokekage99 Transfers happen the same way they would or wouldn't have if the old ruler was deposed via faction war.
LordPokekage99 10 Jan @ 8:14pm
Does this mod also change the new ruler to become the House Head and Dynasty Head?
Muse  [author] 30 Dec, 2024 @ 5:33am
It applies to landed characters with a duchy or higher title. (In other words, only excluding counts.) In my tests it did work when added to already-running games.
Alexander Erebus 30 Dec, 2024 @ 3:10am
Does thisn only apply to kings or is it for any ruler and also does it work on save games?
Muse  [author] 28 Dec, 2024 @ 11:17am
I FUCKING FIXED IT. IT WAS LITERALLY ALL BECAUSE PARADOX CHANGED THE WAY DECISIONS' BACKGROUND PICTURES WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CODED. YOU HAD TO ADD A "reference =" BEFORE THE FILEPATH.
Muse  [author] 28 Dec, 2024 @ 11:08am
@hronflow008

You are right partially about the renown event. I seem to have deleted it from the release version at some point (I remember being unable to balance the renown cost) and forgotten to remove it in the decision itself. Thanks for your work.

For the second part, I don't need to add a mechanic because the game already has one. "Mechanic" isn't added by my mod, it uses the "depose" command function that already exists in the basegame and is used for the game's own level 3 stress event, which can result in a ruler's abdication. This is also the code that is executed when a ruler surrenders to a liberty faction while on the first level of crown authority.
hronflow008 28 Dec, 2024 @ 9:56am
I checked out your mod to see if I could improve my own abdication mod, and I think I found out why people say the decision doesn't work. On line 70, your abdicate decision tries to trigger the event "abdrenown_event.1" but no such event exists. Furthermore, throughout the events, I cant even FIND the actual mechanic in which the ruler actually loses their titles.
macintosh1257 3 Dec, 2024 @ 5:57pm
Doesn't work, update please.
🌙𝓛𝓾𝓷𝓮🌙 26 Nov, 2024 @ 9:39pm
Good mod, but latest updates have broken it, unfortunately. Folks will have to try another abdication mod if OP can't get around to an update for the time being.
m1LK 20 Nov, 2024 @ 9:51am
@Muse I tried it today and it didn't work. The button is there but when you push it nothing happens.
Muse  [author] 20 Nov, 2024 @ 6:58am
@billy the kid
it still works AFAIK, I'll do an update way later in 25
m1LK 20 Nov, 2024 @ 4:24am
Thank you so much, was looking for an abdication mod with actual restrictions.
billy the kid 18 Nov, 2024 @ 6:26am
Would you kindly update the mod? Your mod is the best mod from all abdication mods. Game's not fun without your mod anymore
ErikRedbeard 3 Nov, 2024 @ 9:29am
It doesn't currently seem to work at all.
The decision is just a blank page and clicking it does nothing.

The way this is setup however is much preferred to the other types of abdication mods.
Altatension18 28 Oct, 2024 @ 5:08am
Great news
al infierno 20 Oct, 2024 @ 6:38pm
Great work on this. Really hope you do decide to update this for landless adventuring, it'd be awesome to be able to do a King Lear / Ran!
Azula 18 Oct, 2024 @ 5:57am
does it work with AGOT?
我只玩3A 16 Oct, 2024 @ 8:21am
I am thinking maybe abdicators could have an option to become a co-ruler
Owithdog 15 Oct, 2024 @ 2:01pm
Ah, good shout. Can't say I know too much about modding myself, so I can't be of much help there. I look forward to seeing it done though!
Muse  [author] 15 Oct, 2024 @ 7:01am
@Owithog I want to update it now that landless rulers are a proper thing, and facilitate transitioning from rulership to adventure. Just gotta get around to it.
Owithdog 14 Oct, 2024 @ 2:38am
Hello! I don't know how involved you are in the modding scene still, but I think you did a bang up job with this mod. Have you considered updating it, or is this not something you really do anymore? Either way, thanks for making the mod to begin with, I really enjoyed it.
laxfeed 1 Oct, 2024 @ 6:58am
please update

Why is there a pink square where the former monarch should be?
FunGaming44 11 May, 2024 @ 6:24pm
Anyway you can still fix that icon I talked about a couple months back
FunGaming44 11 Mar, 2024 @ 5:07pm
yeah the court position it has it's icon missing it now shows a purple box
Muse  [author] 11 Mar, 2024 @ 4:59pm
This one? Do you mean the court position?
FunGaming44 11 Mar, 2024 @ 4:09pm
this one now misses it's icon in the court screen, can you fix that ??
Muse  [author] 10 Mar, 2024 @ 11:07am
The whole point of the lazy/content option is that it's one of the few circumstances besides poor health that DOES allow for abdication. Though I guess I should consider adding additional requirements to that specific case, like the heir being a descendant rather than any valid adult.
SgtPeppersSoul 10 Mar, 2024 @ 9:43am
Noticed a bug when allowing AI rulers to take the decision.

If you grant a title to any character with the content or lazy trait who does not already have a child or a sibling under 16, their heir is usually an older relative. This allows them to abdicate instantly, regardless of age. I might suggest changing it so that that option (the lazy or content trait) only kicks in after the age of 55.
VKG S01 8 Mar, 2024 @ 12:05pm
thank your mod
Muse  [author] 4 Mar, 2024 @ 11:51am
I was originally planning on updating this to make the abdication thing a "grand event" like those added with tours and tournaments but I've now decided to wait until the update which lets you play landless characters comes out. That was, I can make it so that an abdicating ruler has the option to go adventure around and the player will be able to choose between playing the heir or contiung on as them.
