Yeah, I understand that. The claims themselves make sense. It's the -30 relationship hit that doesn't make sense, since the old ruler (me) voluntarily abdicated to the new ruler (also me). Maybe add a relationship buff that decays over time, to offset the negative hit to relations at least for a few years?
I mean, at the end of the day I guess it doesn't really matter, since the old ruler would be unlanded in your own court so if the negative relation hit could cause issues, you could just imprison him or something. But it's still kinda silly that he hates me for having claims on titles he literally just gave up, lol.
Regardless, thanks for the mod :)
Claims are left on the ruler to simulate historical scenarios like what happened to Murad II of the Ottoman Empire. He abdicated in favor of his son, Mehmed II, but after a war broke out, the Ottoman Janissaries and upper classes forced him back into the throne.
One request if it's possible: After abdicating, my old ruler stays in my court, which is fine. HOWEVER he has a -30 relation to me because he has claims to all my titles. It would be nice if, when abdicating, the old ruler is stripped of claims to avoid this relation hit (which only makes sense, since they're abdicating)
You are right partially about the renown event. I seem to have deleted it from the release version at some point (I remember being unable to balance the renown cost) and forgotten to remove it in the decision itself. Thanks for your work.
For the second part, I don't need to add a mechanic because the game already has one. "Mechanic" isn't added by my mod, it uses the "depose" command function that already exists in the basegame and is used for the game's own level 3 stress event, which can result in a ruler's abdication. This is also the code that is executed when a ruler surrenders to a liberty faction while on the first level of crown authority.
it still works AFAIK, I'll do an update way later in 25
The decision is just a blank page and clicking it does nothing.
The way this is setup however is much preferred to the other types of abdication mods.

If you grant a title to any character with the content or lazy trait who does not already have a child or a sibling under 16, their heir is usually an older relative. This allows them to abdicate instantly, regardless of age. I might suggest changing it so that that option (the lazy or content trait) only kicks in after the age of 55.
