Height parameter, for example: sometimes from the unit's perspective it blocked by an object, e.g. It is on a back slope or behind a building. Now if the unit gets a higher height parameter or the object height parameter is lowered, the unit probably be able to attack.

(Sorry I don't know much about this, I've just seen other authors using similar ways.)

@Λpex - Raubtier Again, not sure what you mean by the height parameters. Do you mean that units on hills should get extra vision or something?

Stealth bonus is hard to adjust because if you mess it up, you end up with invisible units shooting at you that you can't spot. It also breaks the AI.

Well, anyway, the situation so far is that 3x gives me a great sense of immersion, but the units always see enemies through thick trees that they shouldn't be able to see with their perspective.

A similar problem occurs in 1.5 and 2x, and can probably be improved by modifying the viewing and stealth ratings of units if you don't change the height parameters of items in the map

@Λpex - Raubtier I have talked about this before, but I can't make Forest LOS any lower without doing a complete rework of how close quarters fighting is handled with inf and vehicles. If you want, you can try out 2x or 1.5x which would feel like it has lower Forest LOS. It just feels weird on 3x because of the scaling.

Not sure what you mean with the height differences, I don't think that is something I would be able to mod on my own. We can't really create new scripts or anything for this game, we can only edit values that already exist or make new copies of those same types of things. So if you're suggesting that I add some completely new mechanic to the game unfortunately I probably wouldn't be able to.

Forest LOS still too high, and doesn't take into consideration the effects of terrain/height differences, improving these will greatly enhance the experience.

Not exactly sure what is causing it, but the LARS rocket artillery is now shooting its missiles straight up - like 90 degrees angle. It also causes 90% of the "fire on ground" attempts to show "weapon angle too high".

Not sure if this affects other rocket artillery as well.

This update came with a few structural changes to the files and as a result several features had to be disabled temporarily while I rewrite them.

However it should come with some bugfixes at well, and fixes to my own code that should eliminate most if not all of the recent issues with game crashes.

CURRENTLY DISABLED TEMPORARILY:

- Plane altitude overhaul system (high alt / low alt bombers)
- Additional supply cost for some weapons (LGB, MLRS)
- Most custom AI parameters
- Smoke grenades no longer show on the UI for infantry unfortunately. They do still function though. Remember that all engineers, command units, and special forces have smoke grenades.

@3moatruth Gotcha, I'll try and take a look at the strike eagle, and double check the detection stuff. Unit detection range *should* be scaled automatically but Eugen may have changed something.

Sorry, I forgot to come back to this. But I think I figured it out. For some reason it was the Strike Eagle that was making it crash.

Also, are there any plans to adjust the stealth mechanics? I've noticed that even though the scaling is 3x, the detection ranges don't seemed to have increased to reflect that. Sometimes, even with clear LOS, I can't even detect a unit until it's right on top of me.

After the last updated, for some reason it's crashing in AG again. Haven't been able to figure out the exact problem, but it doesn't happen in the vanilla game. I'm going to try a couple of things, but it's happened to me on two different PC's so it's not isolated. If I can figure out what's crashing it, I'll let you know. It just randomly happens in the middle of a skirmish.

@3moatruth Somebody also just responded to me in there saying they had the issue in vanilla, but reinstalled the game and it fixed it. You may want to try verifying the game files or reinstalling and seeing if that works.

@3moatruth So I did some digging in the Eugen discord about the counterbattery stuff: Seems to be a new bug with the game, people were reporting it in vanilla as well.

The current workaround is to give the order individually to each unit, and then it should work.

You reported it first in the mod here before it started being reported in the base game though, so it's possible it could still be something on my end. Still need to do a deep dive into the files and see what's up, a couple other modders are trying to figure it out as well.

@3moatruth I'll take a look at the counterbattery order again soon. I think it's something to do with 3x scaling specifically, because it seems to work on the lower scaling versions. Haven't had a lot of time to playtest recently and see what the issue might be.

Glad that you're enjoying the mod otherwise though! I know how you feel lol, I can't play without the scaling at all anymore, going back to vanilla is always such a jarring experience. Anyways, glad you like it! :praisesun:

Haven't been able to play it since WARNO kept submitting updates after the NORTHAG launch, but before I can say that arty counter-battery seemed to work fine in the vanilla game, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work with the mod. It didn't seem to matter whether or it it was in a control group, merge group, or just by themselves.

You doing great work with the mod though. It's pretty hard to ever want to play the vanilla game after this lol. It's great if you can get it updated any time soon, but if not, that's fine too. I know we are all busy with the upcoming holidays.

@3moatruth I've had to temporarily disable the AI changes to playtest looking for a crashing bug in MP skirmishes. I'll take a look at the CB order, for now I think it does still work if you just assign the arty to a control group, but not in a merged group. I think you can set in your settings whether or not you want things to merge or not when you spawn them.

The crashing issues got fixed. Now for some reason, counter-battery is broke when you have units assigned as a group. Also, did the enemy AI settings get changed at all?

It happens in the AG battles itself. The way EUGEN keeps updating everything, it makes it feel like WARNO never left early access.

@3moatruth There are actually several issues with AG as of the last update. I should have a fix soon for some of it (courtesy of cbrid of the Combat Team mod), that should avoid some of the crashing.

Is it crashing inside of the AG map? Or in the AG battles themselves?

Not sure if you've experienced it, but the game is crashing alot in AG since Eugen's last update. Seems to happen more on certain maps.

@3moatruth I really can't figure out what could be causing this crash. My apologies for the inconvenience, but I suppose just skip that one for now. It works with my combat changes without the scaling, so you could play it with SCO, just not with the SSC combined versions. They changed a lot of parameters to be scaled automatically now, even when they shouldn't be scaled at all. I suspect that's probably what's going on here but it's going to take me some time to figure it out.

@3moatruth This doesn't happen for me. Might be that your game files are corrupted somehow. Try and verify the integrity of local files maybe. This basically scans the game and makes sure your vanilla files match exactly. Sometimes Steam can corrupt things when updating.

@shark Was not able to recreate the issue on 2x or 3x for me. Did you target a unit with it directly or did you fire position on the ground? I did not test versus other units directly but fire POS on the ground still worked. On 3x I did have trouble with some planes (including the German F-4F HE bombers) dropping their bombs, but it didn't say incompatible weapon for me, it just said "Firing" or "Aiming" and never dropped them.

Either way I made some more adjustments to lower the planes a bit more and see if it helps. It's not live yet though. Going to do a little more testing tomorrow and make sure it works. If it's been longer than 24 hours from this comment and I haven't uploaded it yet feel free to comment and remind me to update. I have the changes done on my side, I just have to update the workshop files and pages again.

@Space i tested unguided bombs on the German f4 on both 2x and 3x scaling and they didn't work. Unfortunately can't test anymore right now since it's 4 at night for me gotta catch some sleep

@shark Hmm that one will take some recalculating then. I thought I had it set up properly where it would work for all versions of the scaling, but it seems like it's too high for just the 3x scaling, the others (1.5x and 2x) should still work fine for now. I'll fix it in the next day or two but not tonight probably. Which plane specifically were you using? Or is it all bombers from what you can tell? Can you test if the high altitude bombers like the F111 still work properly?

pretty sure it has to do with the distance since unguided bombs only have a range of 150m and with the high altitude spawn they are out of range

@Space just found another bug lol that i reported for rebs too. It has to do with unguided bombs if you try to use them the game will just say "incompatible weapon"
