This mod only works with SCS engines.
GrayDawg 7 Jun @ 4:30pm
This mod only works with SCS engines, or does it work with mod engines too like ZeeMods etc.?
avenger  [author] 6 Jun @ 7:03pm
@ZorzoRs: If it shows as incompatible to you it probably means you don't have one or more of the free truck DLCs installed. Double check you have all truck DLCs (they should all be free of charge!) and try enabling the mod again.
ZorzoRs 1 Jun @ 2:30am
Is not working for me, shows that is incompatible
Fritz 9 May @ 11:51am
Appreciate your help
avenger  [author] 8 May @ 3:42pm
If you tried this in clean profile and it didn't work, it should be super-wrong... I will have to do some tests here disabling and re-enabling stuff. I myself subscribed to the workshop mod to make sure it works for everyone (mod orders considered). I'm currently very clueless, but if I find anything I'll post back.
Fritz 5 May @ 1:35pm
I tried the engine idle torque fix, that works as intended, but i prefer your mod, because of the sounds.
Fritz 5 May @ 1:27pm
The mod is marked compatible and get's loaded. I'm driving a kenworth W900, but also tried other trucks on a clean profile with no other mods.
avenger  [author] 5 May @ 3:03am
I've just uploaded version 1.1.0, but I am not sure it's going to fix problems for who can't run the mod at all. All that changed was a few engine rpm and torque trims, since the previous version.
avenger  [author] 5 May @ 2:07am
What do you get? incompatible mod? Any hints? Or maybe better, which truck+engine were you driving when you noticed it didn't work?
Notice this mod won't affect engines brought in by mods.
Fritz 3 May @ 10:48pm
Same Problem here, not working for me since update 1.54. Driving without this mod is absolute pain, i would love to see an update. Thanks in advancea
avenger  [author] 25 Apr @ 10:58pm
Is it not working for you? I read the release notes and I didn't see mention of any new engine/trucks so I was just assuming there was no need to update the mod. Just launched the game and at least to my current truck, the "fix" was working.
IzzyKings07 25 Apr @ 10:08pm
is this going to be updated to 1.54
avenger  [author] 13 Dec, 2024 @ 5:17pm
Alright, just updated to 1.53, using data from 1.53.1.5. Enjoy!
It took me a while but thanks to the parent project I could wrap up the SCS file reader for this version 2 format. Hope they keep this SCS file format for a loong time :)
<EoS> 3 Dec, 2024 @ 1:13pm
Please update to 1.53
avenger  [author] 16 Sep, 2024 @ 8:01pm
Hello! I'll try to find some time... 1.50 had a new version of one tool I had wired in the generator program and I couldn't wrap up a workaround for that yet. Say, is it not working with 1.51? In theory, for engines common with previous versions, it should(tm) work, unless there was a deep overhaul in the engine definition files.
YogiMMS 11 Sep, 2024 @ 4:14am
will there be an update for this mod for 1.51
avenger  [author] 4 Jun, 2024 @ 6:55pm
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it worked because SCS changed the packed .SCS format in 1.50 and I would have to figure out how to handle the new format in order to do a full reprocess of all engines.
demeon99's Dad 1 Jun, 2024 @ 5:59pm
Just found your Mod and it works great in 1.50. Thank You
avenger  [author] 3 Apr, 2024 @ 7:42am
@Malachi Vincent - Last people complaining it didn't work was because they didn't have one of the required truck DLCs. All required DLCs are free so just check whether you're missing one and it should work. Otherwise, if you could share error messages or the log where it says it doesn't work, it might help.
Lanky 1 Apr, 2024 @ 7:55pm
It still dosen't want to work for me
avenger  [author] 13 Feb, 2024 @ 7:35pm
Good catch, @Yawwnnn, that must be the problem people have been complaining about, thanks for sharing! As the DLC is free, I hope it should be alright to leave the requirement.
Yawwnnn 12 Feb, 2024 @ 9:44pm
It was "incompatible" for me as well but when I clicked the little red i symbol, it said I didn't have the Kenworth T680 2022 DLC and that was what made it incompatible. I realized my system didn't automatically download that free DLC so I had to manually find it and download it. Hope that helps anybody in the future!
boundsword 9 Feb, 2024 @ 2:03am
Thank you for your effort, it still works great in ATS mode, greetings from Croatia :)
avenger  [author] 8 Feb, 2024 @ 2:19pm
Sounds like SCS decided to mark my mod as incompatible to some users. I am clueless, no notfications other than the comments you left, I don't see myself the mod marked as incompatible, so I'm not sure there's much I could do. There's always the option to build local mod from the github repository...
boundsword 6 Feb, 2024 @ 1:14pm
incompatible with version 1.49
avenger  [author] 3 Feb, 2024 @ 6:36pm
The mod should be working with 1.49.3, it is the version where the current 1.0.4 version is released for, there should be something preventing you either from downloading the latest version or checking it.
I still have 1.49.3.8, and steam offers no update. Still, I don't expect a minor release to break the mod. I'll keep an eye open to see if new update comes from steam in the next days.
The version filter in the 1.0.4 version is "latest", that is, whatever is the latest version, it will be the chosen one.
Doc8Ball 31 Jan, 2024 @ 3:59pm
I should of added its on version 1.49.3.9
Doc8Ball 31 Jan, 2024 @ 3:58pm
Mod is now showing "Incompatible" in the mod manager? Hope it gets updated! This mod was the best clutch fix ive found as far as realism
avenger  [author] 17 Jan, 2024 @ 11:48am
I could run 1.48 and 1.49 with the not-updated mod without issues. Maybe you had other mods conflicting with this one?..
Anyway, just uploaded a new update to latest ATS, now supporting the new truck. More info in changelog.
carroz 20 Dec, 2023 @ 11:30am
Please note that it is incompatible with version 1.49 and disabling the DLC - International LT, not allowing the game to load. Tanks!!!!
Darchful 26 Sep, 2023 @ 12:11pm
Work 1.48 ATS? Thanks!
xt487tx 1 Sep, 2023 @ 1:56am
Oh, I guess I stated that wrong.
Had to remove it because someone else doesn't play with mods.
Yes, it works great in MP.
avenger  [author] 31 Aug, 2023 @ 7:08pm
This mod is set as "optional" as it doesn't affect multiplayer. So as long as the convoy server is set up to accept "optional mods" ( mods_optioning: true in dedicated server settings), you can safely use this mod on convoys. It's just a setting the convoy host should set when putting the server up.

I too don't want to play this game (with a clutch) without this mod. But I still hope SCS would take some time to properly model clutch in the game ... one day. :B
xt487tx 28 Aug, 2023 @ 5:37pm
"1000 character limit":steamfacepalm:

I tried a MP Convoy, and had to remove this mod. It nearly killed me in frustration without it.
I can deal without any mods, but this one.
AGAIN GREAT MOD!
xt487tx 28 Aug, 2023 @ 5:35pm
Hey avenger thanks for the response!
I wouldn't get to caught up in making this work with everything. That would drive you crazy, with all the possible mod options out there.

I just want to make sure I cleared up any misunderstanding for anyone reading this.
I can say that the curve that is in it, for the clutch to grab, is working with frkn64's Real Truck Physics, as well as kriechbaum's, and Ruda's engines.

This curve is very evident even without changing the deadzone or range on the clutch in settings.
This immediately felt much more real to me.

I can't say it changes any torque value in the engines from those two modders though (haven't bothered to test it). It does help immensely with torque in default engines.

The only trucks I have driven so far are the default W900, K100 by OF, and a 352 rework by CyrusTV. This mod works for that curve in all three.

The only thing is the sticky brakes effect when a truck spawns in. Tap the throttle to get rid of that effect.
avenger  [author] 23 Aug, 2023 @ 10:31pm
About the clutch dead zone, I do set a dead zone in both the beginning (actual dead zone) and end (called "range" in the game) of the clutch to simulate an actual clutch with its "bite zone"... the only difference is, once I set the clutch "height" by the dead zone, it never goes up/down as there's no clutch wear simulation in the game anyway. :P

For Fede.Black.Beast's question, if you use Zeemods engines, this mod won't help you at all, as it only and only affects torque curves at low RPM for base game engines (down to engines released June 2023 for the base game + free truck DLCs). This mod replaces every base game engine's settings file with a procedurally-settled range of values (there's a tool to create updated versions of this mod, see the description for details, but that's probably more for the tech-savvy audience).
avenger  [author] 23 Aug, 2023 @ 10:31pm
Hello xt487tx! Thanks for the kind feedback so far, glad you liked it! I've been unable to keep up with SCS to make new mod releases that include new truck engines (introduced after this mod's last release, around June 2023). But I suppose all engines you've been trying are vanilla powered.

About the frkn64 mod, I don't know it, but it probably fiddles with general truck physics which shouldn't (at first) conflict with this one. Actually it potentially complements if it employs a more realistic flywheel weight and clutch viscosity to the trucks. The stuck brake issue could very well be coming from the frkn64 physics settings triggering some kind of edge case the base game avoids with its default settings; I don't really see how this (Clutch fix) mod would introduce such an issue. I don't remember triggering an issue like that while playing.
xt487tx 18 Aug, 2023 @ 5:34pm
Hey Fede,
Its been my experience that about 1850 ft/lbs of torque is the minimum you want from SCS engines.
I also had trouble with this issue. This mod helped immensely. Be sure to read my comments below. There is another torque boost mod out there, that is recent, but I haven't tried it. This one actually feels like a real truck. As he explains in his description he changed the curve of the input. Its hard to pass up.
I can't speak for Zee Mods engines yet. I use kriechbaum's so far. It seems to work with them.
Even the slightest dead zone in your clutch input is really gonna give you hassle. So make sure you have zero in it.
Hope this helps.

Hello friends. Something strange happens to me. I'm using a Logitech G923, with shifter. With SCS trucks and SCS engines/transmissions, I struggle to move the truck correctly by releasing the clutch in first gear. The strange thing is that when I use Zeemods engines I can start moving the truck even in 4th gear without problems.

I feel that it is a specific problem of clutch configuration within the base game. With this mod I will be able to solve those failures?
xt487tx 9 Aug, 2023 @ 6:45am
This is working just fine with frkn64 truck physics. It has to do with the sticky brake feeling when a truck first spawns.
xt487tx 7 Aug, 2023 @ 3:47am
Update, it turns out the brakes feeling stuck whenever a truck is spawned can be over ridden by just tapping the throttle.
This doesn't seem to effect the torque on any modded trucks or engines. But it does seem to apply the redesigned clutch mechanic mechanic on all vehicles. This is way more realistic than the vanilla, and much more user friendly!
xt487tx 6 Aug, 2023 @ 2:19am
This is working great! Almost to good. I'm down to a 500 HP CAT and pulling a 55k load (ATS weights being as weird as they are) and still able to pull out in 3rd. I think 500 is about the bottom limit for HP, as the acceleration is about right with that.
It does work with frkn64 truck physics. Its odd as a game restart seemed needed. The trucks also feel like the brakes are stuck when initially loaded in game. Just gotta power into that first take off, and no issues after.
It also works with Kierchbaum engines. But I have only used default game engines in that pack so far.
Best mod I ever found for the clutch and torque. Five star if I could. So a thumb up is all it lets me do.
xt487tx 5 Aug, 2023 @ 7:27pm
What a great mod! I have waited for something like this for a long time.
As a twenty five year veteran truck driver, ATS's clutch design has always driven me crazy.
This helped immensely with that. It feels very good. Its not perfect, but as you mention in your comments, ATS could use some work as well.
I no longer have to throttle into a take off, like I had to in the lowest gear with the biggest engine. In fact I can use engines with lower power now so acceleration and hills feel more real. I feel like 450-500 HP feels pretty realistic.
I don't know if you could do better considering the variety of pedals a people who are playing.
THANK YOU!
I can confirm and tested in many ways this mod does not work or gets over ridden by frkn64's Real Truck Physics. In fact the two together make the the take offs much worse.
avenger  [author] 16 Jul, 2023 @ 7:30am
There may be better ways to fix the clutch, as I still found myself needing to use the trailer brake to start when overloaded on a hill. The possible other approach would avoid having to change every single engine in the game to compensate in torque curves, fiddling with clutch viscosity itself, but it's possible the game simply implements a power transfer algorithm that doesn't allow to simulate real clutches, where can gradually transfer -- or couple -- the engine power to the gearbox without heavily losing revs. The way the game is feels like the truck has no flywheel. This probably is well modeled for ATs, but really seems to be neglected for MT in the game.
Herr_Judas94 9 Jul, 2023 @ 4:36pm
i just use my trailer brake only on hills i have it mapped on my steering wheel so i just hold it then let go as i release the clutch and give her some rpms. I like to be as realistic as possible being a 3rd gen trucker myself. As for the idle torque issue i use Zeemods engines idk if he corrects it himself but takeoffs are pretty good with his mods.
jlucas 20 Apr, 2023 @ 3:21pm
roger that was just throwing it out there
avenger  [author] 20 Apr, 2023 @ 4:30am
@jlucas: I have logitech with GHub and there's no such thing like changing the game's engine strength or compensating for the game's poor implementation (in my opinion) of clutch dynamics.
jlucas 19 Apr, 2023 @ 3:52pm
i belive if you have logitech setup can go on the g hub an adjust all of that
avenger  [author] 11 Apr, 2023 @ 9:58pm
@Overlord: Yes, it doesn't make sense if you don't have the fancy analog clutch pedal. In fact, it may bring mayhem even if you have the pedal but are playing at an AT truck.
