I would love to see the urns made stuffable! (i.e. recipe a corpse + material) this mod is awesome
De Uz 21 Jun @ 7:32am
Time to make abrick shithouse out of the cremated corpses of my enemies
.Avi 31 May @ 5:39pm
At the very least I don't see any bones in the bone to ash recipes, just "ingredients," and trying to make my pawns prioritize any bone to ash recipes says that no ingredients could be found, even when I have a room full of thousands of bones
.Avi 31 May @ 5:37pm
Could this be made compatible with Outland's bones?

I've got both this and RoM Bones, but it overwrites the RoM Bones when butchering stuff and just replaces the bones in RoM's recipes for their bones, but despite that I can't turn their bones into ash.
Romyashi  [author] 5 Oct, 2024 @ 6:38am
@Deebs You can cremate skeletons as is and get ash without any changes to my mod.
Deebs 3 Sep, 2024 @ 5:19pm
Thank you!
Romyashi  [author] 3 Sep, 2024 @ 3:10am
@Deebs Will look into it.
Deebs 3 Sep, 2024 @ 3:04am
Would it be possible to get support with https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3318874347&searchtext=butcher ? It'd make extracting the skeletons have more of a point :)

Regardless- thank you for the mod, it's great!
catmanmlio 11 Apr, 2024 @ 3:00pm
glad to hear it.
have an amazing day.
Romyashi  [author] 11 Apr, 2024 @ 2:56pm
@catmanmlio Yes, most of them will be updated when I get to have some spare time.
(Thanks, same to you)
catmanmlio 11 Apr, 2024 @ 2:55pm
alright bet.
im guessing that goes for the other mods you made.
(also nice pfp)
Romyashi  [author] 11 Apr, 2024 @ 2:50pm
@catmanmlio Will update soon.
catmanmlio 11 Apr, 2024 @ 2:47pm
1.5?
Romyashi  [author] 17 Nov, 2023 @ 2:36am
@VolatileGlitchAviator Separate recipes at the campfire and the crematorium.
VolatileGlitchAviator 17 Nov, 2023 @ 12:43am
This might sound like a really dumb question... but is the ash that is produced done passively or with a recipe?
Romyashi  [author] 6 Nov, 2023 @ 12:20pm
@Cal There were some issues with the recipe XML, I fixed them. If the issue persists however I'm unsure what I can do here. Cremating bones produces ash for me, at least with regular human colonists.
Cal 6 Nov, 2023 @ 12:01pm
So I have RoM: Bones and was trying to cremate the bones to ash. I've watched a mechanoid hauler take 40 bones to the electric crematorium and work the machine. No ash is produced but the bones are gone. Corpse burning does work
Romyashi  [author] 21 Sep, 2023 @ 12:48pm
@Donoya No. Each mod that adds bones have to be patched individually.
Olyndra 21 Sep, 2023 @ 12:43pm
Does this work with medieval overhaul bones?
Lurmey 12 Sep, 2023 @ 3:23pm
Would be really cool (and realistic) if Wood Ash was patched in as a side product of other recipes that burn wood (like making Charcoal) or just slowly produced over time by wood-burning buildings like campfires. Cool mod! :D
Romyashi  [author] 8 Sep, 2023 @ 12:13pm
@SkylineOdeum Oh wow. Yeah, maybe the chance to drop ash from filth is too big right now. I will reduce it.
Romyashi  [author] 8 Sep, 2023 @ 12:09pm
@SkylineOdeum Ash deteriorates now if left outdoors.
SkylineOdeum 8 Sep, 2023 @ 11:51am
@Romyashi, oh golly yes I am. I installed them both at the same time forgot it was the other mod. I personally really like the ash drops myself. Play-through I just started with the modified Crash Landing mod that adds the flaming spaceship chunks and a plant-dense Regrowth biome, it was awesome to see a whole screen of Boreal and Alpine forest turn into ashes... ...but then it results in half the map covered in little red forbidden "x" icons that sit round until they can be cleaned up lol

If the ash piles could degrade over time and/or act like the rubble that just sits there until you tell pawns to haul it, that would clear it the red "x" clutter on the map. But overall, it's an awesome feature!
CocoBat 8 Sep, 2023 @ 11:11am
Just for brevity's sake, I very much enjoy the ashes, and in their current state I already prefer having them over not having them.
Romyashi  [author] 8 Sep, 2023 @ 9:28am
@SkylineOdeum Are you using Useful FIlth as well? I might remove ash drops from it seeing that people don't like it.
SkylineOdeum 8 Sep, 2023 @ 9:06am
Would it be possible to add an option to allow ashes to degrade outdoors? After a forest fire there can be a lot of the stuff just sitting around the map. Many thanks for the spiffy mod!
CocoBat 1 Sep, 2023 @ 1:37am
Alright thanks, I'll try and do that
Romyashi  [author] 1 Sep, 2023 @ 1:35am
@CocoBat In the Useful Filth mod files you can find Ashes.xml file in the Patches folder and edit the values to your liking. Or you can straight up delete the file and ash will not drop from filth.
CocoBat 1 Sep, 2023 @ 1:14am
I am, yes
Romyashi  [author] 31 Aug, 2023 @ 10:19pm
@CocoBat Are you using Useful Filth?
CocoBat 31 Aug, 2023 @ 9:42pm
Hey, I like this mod a lot, but whenever there's been a fire, and with the permeable terrain mod, ash automatically gets destroyed, and there's just a bit too much of it everywhere, does anybody know a workaround?
Romyashi  [author] 7 Aug, 2023 @ 12:29am
@Doomchibi There isn't.
Doomchibi 6 Aug, 2023 @ 9:09pm
Is there any kind of debuff or thought involved with the ash preserved meal? I can't imagine it would be at all good tasting, so I wondered if it was similar to the nutrient paste thoughts.
Romyashi  [author] 5 Aug, 2023 @ 10:02am
@Static.Sprocket Yttakin are Biotech unless you have mods that change them, yes. However I am still able to cremate them without any problem, so I'm pretty sure it's not this mod's bug. There may be something wonky happening with your filters, but I can't tell for sure. Very possible that it is indeed a conflict.
Static.Sprocket 5 Aug, 2023 @ 9:39am
When I create a cremate corpse for bone ash bill, there is no option for "alien corpses" and I had several dead Yttakin (which now that I think about it, I don't think actually use HAR but just biotech) and had selected Allow All on the bill. When I attempted to set a colonist to work the crematorium, I got an error message saying there were no valid corpses. After messing around with the ingredient filters in the XML, my colonists were able to cremete the Yttakin corpses into ash.

I've gone ahead and reverted my changes to the xml, deleted the mod and re-downloaded it, and will carry on -- and next time I have a raid with Yttakin I'll test again.

In any case, great little mod -- and the issues I'm having could be with one of the other couple hundred mods I have installed conflicting with yours.
Romyashi  [author] 1 Aug, 2023 @ 2:35pm
@Static.Sprocket I am able to cremate HAR corpses for bone ash without any changes to the mod. The alien corpses are, however, not allowed by default in the recipe, so you will have to tick alien corpses in the bill in the game to make your colonists use HAR corpses. Please check if this is the case for you.
Static.Sprocket 1 Aug, 2023 @ 12:55pm
hmm, actually, it looks like the change I made has disallowed the use of Animal corpses
Static.Sprocket 1 Aug, 2023 @ 12:13pm
I was having difficulty cremating the corpses of Humanoid Alien Races, and was able to get them working by changing the fixedIngredientFilter from Corpses to CorpsesHumanlike. I haven't noticed any unwanted side effects yet.

<fixedIngredientFilter>
<categories>
<li>CorpsesHumanlike</li>
</categories>
<disallowedCategories>
<li>CorpsesMechanoid</li>
</disallowedCategories>
</fixedIngredientFilter>
CptJackl 9 Jul, 2023 @ 10:31am
Might be cool to be able to use ash to make soap or in fertilizer
LZIM 24 Jun, 2023 @ 11:26am
Yep i had started a raid, got imp bodies, then started ashwork research but had to quickly switch to another research and forgot didn't complete askwork research on that new save. So next step is adding those other crematoria to XML (no idea how to do that on Mac)
Romyashi  [author] 23 Jun, 2023 @ 11:10pm
@LZIM If new crematoriums inherit recipes from vanilla ones then it should be working.
Romyashi  [author] 12 Apr, 2023 @ 3:53am
@CrackaJack They did it with C#. As for patches, will add a recipe to convert their bones to bone ash.
CrackaJack 12 Apr, 2023 @ 1:56am
check out rom bones, they made bone drop smh dependant on bodysize. speaking of, does this have patches for it?
Romyashi  [author] 11 Apr, 2023 @ 8:16am
@aspendosia Unfortunately I have not found a way to do that with only XML. But I do wish you luck with that!
aspendosia 11 Apr, 2023 @ 8:00am
Thanks! That worked. Now to try and find a way to make the ash related to meat amount as it's fully that you get the same ash from an elephant's corpse as a guinea pig's.
Romyashi  [author] 11 Apr, 2023 @ 7:11am
@aspendosia Vanilla Factions Expanded - Classical has a wood-fired crematorium, it works with my mod.
Alternatively, if you want to use a campfire to create bone ash, you can open my mod's files and locate Recipes_AshCremation.xml file. Open it with any text file editor, find recipe for creating bone ash and add <li>Campfire</li> after <li>ElectricCrematorium</li>.
Komissar Rudinov 11 Apr, 2023 @ 6:15am
@aspendosia Vanilla Expanded has a pyre you can burn corpses at.
aspendosia 11 Apr, 2023 @ 5:50am
Like it. Anyone know of a medieval solution to a crematorium? What code would I need to add to a fireplace so I can cremate bodies? Love to use it in my medieval playthroughs someday...
