While a nice character in terms of playstyle and cinematic, i would say that this characters neutral should be toned down significantly. You can win games off of jab and blaster alone while keeping his issues away (being luck based) leaving a flawless character. I used to not understand why people in my friendgroup used to dislike him so much but now i understand. Again, no disrespect to you, i still like using him in singleplayer fights, but in terms of online play, he can win so many interactions just because he can.

FOUND THE ISSUE
It's not a mistake with the character select, it's a different issue entirely. Apparently it only crashes if you don't have Slimpurt installed cuz i took some code from Slimpurt for Retromann.

Perhaps something was damaged when sending it to the Steam workshop, as it lays down its steamworkshop.json, but I myself did not see any errors in it. Try to do an "upgrade" with the same version. If same problem then something specifically in CharacterSelect

Most likely something in the root folder. Try to install your own mod through the workshop, and remove the original one somewhere and then compare. Most likely the problem is somewhere on the surface

Im not experiencing crashes on my end, so I don't know what's the issue

I don't know much about YOMI modding, but I suspect the bugs are related to newlines (about 100 of them) in pf1792_RetroMann referenced by CharacterSelect. Why do I think so? Because the game does not load the character even at the level of simple user debugging (in other words, the load that is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen). Why not suspect other core files besides CharacterSelect? Because they are almost identical to each other, if we consider the same files of version 1.3.0 and 1.2.0.
I know this programming language and without much immersion in the code, I can somehow figure it out.

Now to ordinary people: if you want to install this mod, follow my instructions

I found a bug. In 2959365895 (Retroman' folder) folder downloading not only a mod files (zip,png and json files). Guys, if u want it will works, u must delete RetroMann_v1.3.0.zip and put RetroMann_v1.2.0.zip from "RetroMann" in main folder.
