There already is a way to disable any of the visual effects of this mod. Navigate to the mod config menu and disable the shine animation.

for some reason the shine animation messes up on the elena character mod's cards, putting a dark red filter over them as well as the shine. I use like 20 character mods and the others all work fine so I figure it's something weird about how that mod does its card frames, but it's annoying regardless. I know this isn't really your problem but is there any chance you could either fix this interaction from this end or (more likely) add a way of disabling the mod/effects for certain card pools and not others.

I really wish this mod worked on a point system instead of a boolean system. If each copy of a card gave 2 points and each upgrade gave an extra 1 point, you could have multiple tiers of masteries with custom point requirements to achieve. 2 points could unlock a basic dull metal border, 6 points could get you a polished silver border, and 12 points could then be the shiny gold border. All point threshold could be tweaked via the config of course.

You can use the clearmasteries command to remove all masteries, you need to first enable the basemod console in the basemod mod config menu though

Hello, perhaps I'm a little dumb, by beating the heart does it mean Ascension 20? I've finished the game on A1 with a neat block build and was eager to see the golden cards, but nothing has changed :(

Not a bug but a compatibility issue. The cards are most likely from Fabricate or animator and it's derivatives, right? Those overwrite the entire rendering for the single card preview which I cannot support.

I noticed some of my cards not having the mastery skin working on them once the player is examining them in their enlarged form. Could this be a bug?

Make sure to update the mod, steam isn't very good about automatically pulling new updated. You can force it by verifying game files or unscubscribing and resubscribing

Small new update, thanks to JackRenoson the velvet of the mastered card backgrounds is now colored according to the character's main color (Silent has green, Watcher purple, etc), this can be disabled in the options menu if you'd rather have a consistent red.

i like the mod. Would it be possible to make a toggle such that only the border, or only the cardback is changed. With modded characters some cards have cool art on the cardbacks or borders which is lost when mastered.

No, only runs with the mod installed count.
If you want to unlock cards you've beat the game with previously you can use the console commands, however it'd be a bit of a chore since you'd need to do each card on its own.

Yeah it should, I just check for the victory screen (that you get if you beat heart) I think other ending act mods also throw that up.

Would love to see a feature where maybe when a card has X amount of Wins it gets a bonus or tweak perhaps

Most cards with a space in their name don't have a space in their id so it would be SteamBarrier or maybe Steam_Barrier. Isn't there auocomplete for card ids?

i'm having trouble with the mastercard command - it won't let me use it on any cards with a space in the ID. if i type "mastercard Scrape 1" no problem, but "mastercard Steam Barrier 1" it tells me i need to add the ID and mastery rank of the card i want to master.

Yeah but making the number configurable would've been a pain in the ass, making UI is a lot of effort and only mastering cards that you have 3+ copies of is so unlikely that I can't think of many serious use-cases, so I took the easy way out :)

In the mod config menu for this mod, enable "Require 2 copies for mastery of a card."

Would there be a way to add a gradient to the ascensions so that different cards in your deck would have different colors? For example, red on ascension 1, all the way up to purple in ascension 20.

In case anybody noticed that the mastered cards didn't show their upgrade when showing card upgrades in the compendium, it is now fixed.

okidoki, the borders would be cool enough. hope to see it.
the borders getting fancy on ascention would be nice.

The only thing i would like to see besides that though would be some subtle sparkles on the card(look for rare cards sparkle mod) as well upon beating floor 4 on ascension 20.
no need for crazy art for that and should be a nice bonus on top.

so basically the final card is 3 components. base, border and sparkles

Thanks for your enthusiasm! Originally I wanted to make different borders/card backs for the ascenscion you beat the card with but there were two issues with it:
1) I'm not an artist, my first iteration of a card back was so bad that Laugic and Alison made card backs for me...
2) During testing I noticed that the different card backs were a bit annoying. Having multiple cards with different card backs iritated my need for symmetry something fierce.

I think having different backs and borders based on the card being upgraded when beating the game is a bit much, I like the relative simplicity of the mod as to not be obstrusive. Having a tasteful progression of the border might be in the cards though, I'll have to think about how I would want to handle being able to switch them UI-wise without taking up too much space though.

This mod is great. i personally feel it gives me something to work towards and reasons to try new things
thnx for making it. perhaps you can do something more with this system such as the following?
like maybe have it so the border and texture/colour are separate.
maybe something like this:

win with it in the deck -> silver coloured card body unless its a curse then just gold.
win with an upgraded version of this card -> gold coloured version
win with an upgraded version of this card against the true final boss/ cursed heart -> pearlecent/sparkly or just add sparkles on top of the card similar to how sparkling rares mod does
win on ascension 0-> basic border design
win on ascension 10-> decorated border design
win on ascension 20-> fancy border design

This could go so far as to become its own api that lets you modify cards for future runs based on stuff that happened in past runs.
if you do this stuff it would be super epic and bring this to another level
anyways i love the mod, good job.
