Hmm, dunno what might be up with the water tank, unless the problem is that it doesn't want to separate from the main body mesh (in which case I'm afraid you'll have to separate it manually).

As for the animation, that's the reason I didn't try to do a 3-truck one myself actually. If you don't want to bother with trying to figure out articulation, I think you should be able to just extend the mesh of the driveshaft as far back as you want. As far as actually trying to make it flex in curves and stuff, I've got absolutely no clue how to do that.

Not directly in-game, but you can copy the stack model from the GeTA version's mod folder (file should be named "ShayB_stack_oil") into your Custom Assets folder and then replace the default stack mesh with that in the in-game modding menus.

Alternatively, it looks - to me, at least - like the Dixiana (Roaring Camp #1) matches pretty closely to the GeTA spec as-is, with the narrower stack and the oil bunker in the tender. You could just take the GeTA version and delete the window bars mesh in-game, and then go from there.

It does happen with this one, and it annoys me a bit, but it's a minor enough issue that I can tolerate it (and the only other option would be locking the trucks to the frame, which would also look weird).

but the same thing happens with the normal shay, clips through itself on right hand turn, and splits on left. (or maybe try a heisler loco)

If someone else wants to take a shot at it though, they're absolutely welcome to! It's entirely possible that there's a way of doing it that more experienced modders would figure out, but I'm not planning to do it myself.

I've considered it, but given the way that articulation works in Rolling Line, I don't know if it's possible to do without having the driveshaft do bad things (i.e. split in half on a left-hand curve, clipping through itself on a right-hand curve, etc.). Since the driveshaft would need to be attached to the locomotive and tender bodies for it to show up properly on straight track, it would be articulating around a point it is not centered on, meaning that things wouldn't line up.

In short, I don't know how to make the driveshaft articulate in a way that doesn't look bad, and I don't want to make something that I will be unhappy with.

Sorry, I'm not taking commissions. I do believe there's a Tweetsie skin for the Flyer somewhere on the workshop though (I know it's not the same as a dedicated model but it's a start, anyway).

The number plate is a separate sub-model, so people can remove it easily if they want. You'll need to pick your modified texture for the number plate mesh as well as the main mesh. Same goes for the smokestack.

I've tried my hand at making multi-step whistles a few times and could never quite get them to loop the way I liked, but if you want to take a shot at it, go for it! I don't mind in the slightest.
