No battery charging docks?!
soft  [author] 26 Jan @ 3:43am
@ZeGuardsmen not that it matters, but yes it has been updated since the 1.0-release, and will continue to be updated when it's neccessary, or if i feel like taking advantage of new features might improve it
ZeGuardsmen 19 Jan @ 9:32am
@soft oh nice just looked at it but is it updated to current 1.0 build? since after that most subs and mods got tweeked when that happen.:barotrauma:
soft  [author] 19 Jan @ 3:33am
@ZeGuardsmen the dolphin exists to provide a specific kind of perspective on barotrauma and the gameplay feel that's very different from the regular experience. i don't believe i have anything meaningful to add to the dolphin's concept right now, but if you want a bigger submarine from me, there's always the beluga which is a more conventional all-rounder
ZeGuardsmen 14 Jan @ 1:47pm
@soft ever gonna make a second version but bigger?:barotrauma:
soft  [author] 9 Jul, 2024 @ 10:47am
congratulations on making it through the eye of europa :0 that's a sick achievement
i initially had some inner conflicts with the airlock, but ended up finding it charming that this civilian sub-shuttle sized submarine has to be embarked out of while parked on solid ground. rewiring it to suit various needs after purchase is strongly encouraged :- )
Murlin[ESP] 7 Jul, 2024 @ 4:02am
Cool ship for solo.

I need to do a little ajustment on the airlock( just 2 wires and when 1 door open the other close) because if not the sub go deep when you go outside.

Outside this little thing I'm having a lot of fun with this submarine.
Very funny the outside extra storage xD
Whiskers of Sheogorath 25 May, 2024 @ 9:12pm
No way to siphon water off an airlock. Craft goes down like a rock unless some modifications are made
$1.50 Costco Dog, Hot 10 May, 2024 @ 3:34am
I did it, passed through the Eye of Europa in the Dolphin :)

Storage was a real struggle, but the changes to Assistant made it so much easier, with backpacks and eventually exosuits for extra storage space.
The main worry was the single gun and low reactor output, so for almost all fights I had to park the submarine somewhere low and be very selective where I shot. The amount of items just left on the floor was wild lol
Russian Bear 7 Apr, 2024 @ 10:00am
This thing is simply underwater coffin. Why would you make its cannon so easily discharged, while making reactor so weak that when charging the cannon eveything else shuts down? But I loved the design btw, very cozy little sub. Still while using this one beware as even a pair of crawlers would be a challange.
soft  [author] 17 Nov, 2023 @ 1:01pm
the airlock doors are wired the way they are to prevent accidental flooding :- ) as for the makeshift shelves, they are not meant to be detached. a fix has been uploaded, thanks for letting me know!
Agitatio 15 Nov, 2023 @ 1:47pm
Why not make the airlock doors open/close in relation to each other to avoid sinking? Just feels like a forced limitation that doesn't fit the overall design. Also, is makeshift shelves at the top intended to be detachable?

this is the best submarine for making into a little devil gunrunning missle
11/10

the station power leech update is out now, but will not retroactively apply to submarines already owned in campaigns due to the way the game works
Kokorocodon 20 Oct, 2023 @ 9:26am
ayoo my man update just dropped
soft  [author] 16 Oct, 2023 @ 10:28am
you're absolutely right. i will update this submarine next week when the update with circuit boxes drops, as the current wiring does not have any room for inputs, and the update is a good excuse to redo the wiring. thanks for letting me know!
SundayRoast 15 Oct, 2023 @ 2:10pm
It doesn't seem to draw power from the station when docked.
At least when I turn off the reactor while docked it goes completely dark.
soft  [author] 4 Sep, 2023 @ 10:41pm
yes, there is no ventral turret on this submarine, because having one would go against the concept and presentation of this submarine. it would also require physical space for the loader and possibly a second periscope, detract from the feeling of intended gameplay, and would still not enable you to fight downwards. hope this helps
I IDENTIFY AS TOAST™ 4 Sep, 2023 @ 1:08pm
no turret on bottom
soft  [author] 4 Aug, 2023 @ 4:54am
of course you may! happy to have inspired you :- )
Setite 4 Aug, 2023 @ 12:01am
Hey, i made a sub inspired on this one, but slightly bigger...

May i publish it? I named it the Dolphin MKII that's why i'm asking.

DranKof 19 Jul, 2023 @ 3:54pm
This is a super cool submarine.

Finally! something to use for singleplayer battles with the enemys from hell!
soft  [author] 7 Jul, 2023 @ 7:33am
god damn the latcher must have put one hell of a fight, that's impressive. even on proper submarines it's my least favourite abyss creature to deal with. i did a little wiring test and you're right - while it still sinks like a brick at first, it will come back quite quickly unless it hits solid ground and starts flooding. possibly having an upgraded pump makes it recover much faster :0
spacedogcs 6 Jul, 2023 @ 7:56pm
I manage to kill a latcher with it, really hardcore experience, to be able to play a solo captain experience I used two others mods to auxiliate

I solved the siking problem with some wires, a water detector that automatically opens the door to drain water, and some wires so if you try to open the airlock door and the other one is open, it closes it first, so I now can leave the sub maintaining position
Red 4 Jul, 2023 @ 4:21pm
thats not a dolphin
soft  [author] 1 Jul, 2023 @ 9:44am
unfortunately a pump would not prevent sinking. having one would encourage the player to leave while maintaining position, which would cause the submarine to sink like a brick and take hull damage. there is a disclaimer on this page explaining the need for solid ground
spacedogcs 1 Jul, 2023 @ 7:11am
I loved this sub, but since it is for 1 player, it should have a water pump where the suit is, otherwise the sub will sink when trying to get out
Neumatic 29 Jun, 2023 @ 11:51am
Lol no worries, I managed to survive by using a plasma cutter on the front window and letting the water douse the fire.
But it sounds like you know you're game physics, so best of luck with a fix.
soft  [author] 28 Jun, 2023 @ 3:33pm
oh no, that doesn't sound good! i didn't know the navigation terminals can catch fire :0 while i couldn't replicate it, but it's possible the extinguisher can't put it out because of the curved front piece, as all collisions are straight rectangles, meaning the simulated hulls clip in an unusual manner. i'll do some more testing and will update the submarine if i can replicate and fix it! thanks for the report :- )
Neumatic 28 Jun, 2023 @ 3:17pm
Really nifty sub. Have some points. :)
Only one small drawback, which I'm not sure was just a bug... the command module at the front caught fire (cos why not) but the fire extinguisher didn't seem to work.

bro change that flipin name . It does not look like dolphin more like porpoise. If you want to call your sub dolphin then make a new one that somewhat resembles an actual dolphin . you feel me shipmaster Rtas Vadum?
soft  [author] 20 May, 2023 @ 8:58am
yeah, this sub does require solid ground for leaving through the airlock. not much i can do about that, but there's a disclaimer on this page. the airlock doors are built to protect the sole inhabitant from accidental pressure exposure and not much else, so rewiring is very much encouraged : D
Wunduniik 20 May, 2023 @ 7:18am
“That's a pretty sub you’ve got down there”

I really enjoy this sub.
However, the airlock is a problem when you play along.
Due to its size, the sub will descent quite fast when airlock is full with water, so you have switch character every fast to open the door, or the sub will get away from the diver immediately.
It’ is bit annoying when you just want to loot enemies or mines some minerals on surface.
But the game provides components in game, so, I made an auto system in game as well.
After all, it’s still a pretty sub.
soft  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 2:56pm
you're not the first to suggest that! unfortunately this submarine doesn't meet some basic requirements for shuttles, such as both a ventral and a dorsal docking hatch, and while addressing that and replacing the reactor with batteries is possible (as is fitting in more suit lockers), i don't feel like that kind of retrofit would meet my own standards. maybe i'll make a dedicated shuttle at some point though. in the meantime, if you still want to have one as a shuttle, feel free to follow the advice i gave a few comments earlier - it's very easy for you to save this submarine locally as a shuttle!
seabazian 19 May, 2023 @ 2:06pm
this would probably serve well as a shuttle, and i would like a shuttle varient if possible
soft  [author] 18 May, 2023 @ 5:05am
shit, that must have been wild! really cool to find out that this little sub can be taken all the way to the end

i finish the game whit the Dolphin sub it is not impossible but i use one mod to help myself
the name of the mod "uk utility".

soft  [author] 4 May, 2023 @ 10:38pm
oh wow, that's gonna be one hell of a challenge - surely - nobody would be insane enough to do that? i guess you are insane enough to do that. short answer is maybe! i don't want to clutter the menus with two versions of the same submarine, but you can accomplish this yourself by going into the sub editor, loading up the dolphin to changing it's tier, and saving it locally :- )
$1.50 Costco Dog, Hot 4 May, 2023 @ 10:24pm
Is it possible to get a T3 version so that I can play something other than mechanic as a solo player using this in a campaign?

vewy cool sub!! had no troubles killing swarms and crawler moms :3
