he did, and killed several other people. also, the reason he put a screwdriver is because he was testing how close to critical you can get it. see, how the demon core works is that it emits radiation constantly, and if it just gets out it wont do anything, but if it bounces off of something and comes back to the demon core, the core "charges up" and hits critical. when it hits critical, it either explodes or you do as he did and everyone nearby dies of radiation poisoning

actualy im pretty sure the person that used the screwdriver method ( of doing idk what ) died after messing up for a split second
