I think aside from the overall overly dark atmosphere, the map is decent.

I was annoyed by the third map in particular, in which up to four tanks can be spawned. Three were spawned at the bridge section so I was forced to retreat cuz there are tons of cars lying around to kill each one of them, and having to do this three times is not pleasant.

Going back...

Map 1 - Incredibly long. Don't rush too much, if you got run over by the Subway Train, you're dead and Safe Room is around the corner.
Map 2 - Fine, once you open the gate, freaking run to Safe Room.
Map 3 - Be careful when crossing the Bridge because once you're near to Safe Room, YOU WILL KILL 2 TANKS plus there are cars to push them against you.
Map 4 - Scavenge. Find Gas Cans to Tank vehicle to clear a path to Safe Room
Map 5 - Once you run, don't shoot the Generators, or it will explode in your face.
Map 6 - Also long run before station. Try saving bullets until you reach the Station because there are no Ammo there until you reach it. For Finale: HORDE > TANK > HORDE > TANK > TRAIN

8.5/10. My advice if you play this map is..... DONT. GET. LOST!

Not a bad campaign per say, it is very interesting. But it is way too long with the first two maps and too easy to get lost as it isn't obvious where to go at points. There's potential here, for sure! But I think it needs to be shortened a bit and play tested a bit more before it'll really shine.

Syahmi its good to report this. I'm thinking it is probably nav related? Sounds bizarre but I'm finding that rebuilding the nav is fixing some weird mod clashes so far. It's taking me a little more time to complete the update but I want everything to be working correctly when I release it. Right now versus mode is needing some corrections on all the maps. Whomever got hold of this campaign before the rightful owner took back over ownership has deleted some things apparently that are needed for it to work correctly. You guys keep reporting weird things you find. I appreciate it. :) I'll do my best to leave you smiling :) Hang tight.

After a bit of playtesting, it turns out that the issue where the bots get confused on where to fill the gas at the scavenge section in Chapter 4 only happens if at least one bot is equipped with chainsaw (only possible with bot addons such as Left 4 Bots 2), while having ChainsawFix+Refuel[Server Mod] addon installed. So far, only this custom campaign has this issue, but I haven't test it on other campaigns with scavenge events.

Root_beer working on addressing all those issues and anything else that we can find. I've got 2 or 3 playtesters playing through it giving me feedback. Next version will include the nomercy elevator bug patch, that car windshield issue fix (mismatched windshield to car numbers), etc. Someone got hold of the original and added some models (mostly cars) etc. from a l4d1 asset somewhere at some point. I caught it when the tank couldn't smack some cars around on the bridge. Some models are essentially the wrong type. I'm working on checking everything. Thanks for the great feedback. The problem with map 4 was my stupid. It was very early in the morning and I ended up copying over the correct script for map 4. It's working now again. Hang tight update coming soon. Going to recheck all the nav around all the vehicles etc. once I get them all corrected. Peace.

Played through this, the only major issues I had were inconsistent framerate and the scavenge on map 4 not working correctly. The rest of the problems I had were minor bot navigation issues.

Inconsistent framerate (flucatuates between 60-200, drops below 60 when a lot of commons are spawned or explosions happen), tested with and without mods. Unsure if this a problem with the game or my pc.

Ok I played through this latest version and it's not updating map 3 like it's supposed to. I have another compiler I'll try tomorrow. I made the changes you want but it won't change them. I'm going to repair l4d2 in the morning and try again. It did it once now it won't. It won't say why it won't though. It's playing super good with that nav all fixed. Rerunning everything in HDR lightened up the maps. They look great. Ya it found a file that didn't validate.

The latest update of this custom campaign brought even more welcoming changes such as altered sequences and randomized item spawns (thanks a lot, Captain Obvious). However, it seems like Chapter 4 is softlocked again during the scavenge section as the amount of gas cans required does not register when reached the limit and once it starts, the rescue sequence instantly begins, constantly spawning Tanks and hordes of infected towards the player. For those who are using Left 4 Bots 2 addon, there are certain parts of the campaign that, when using the "Lead" command, bots will head towards the opposite direction you're going. The most obvious of all is during the rush towards the park in Chapter 3. Furthermore, the issue where the bots will fill the gas in random locations in Chapter 4's scavenge section is still there. I think that's it for the update.

I've played the latest version of this custom campaign, and it's finally playable from start to finish after six months of waiting. I appreciate how you added a sun in the skybox, giving the custom campaign a setting of a cloudy afternoon. Now, the lighting changes from the update back in March make sense. However, I'm conflicted about the god spots being patched this time around. It's okay to enjoy the power fantasy once in a while. Additionally, there are still some issues I'd like to nitpick. First, the skybox in Chapter 3 is still visible through the fog. Second, for those using the Left 4 Bots 2 addon, in Chapter 4, bots tend to wander through random locations to fill the gas (specifically on the right side of the CEDA trailer and near the opened gate where the radio is) and become confused before magically filling the tank. Those are my thoughts on the latest update of this custom campaign.

CONS

- Exterior lighting on Chapter 1, 2 and Finale is too bright. A middle ground between the lighting in the previous version and the one in the latest version is suggested.
- Reflective surface on some of the dark interior areas, probably from the broken specular mapping.
- The trees near the subway station on Chapter 1 blocks the vision of the narrow pathway to the saferoom.
- The skybox on Chapter 3 is visible through the fog, breaking the immersion.
- The fuel counter on the scavenge event on Chapter 4 is broken.
- Both the scavenge and finale events on Chapter 4 and 6 respectively are broken. As soon as they start, the rescue sequence instantly begin, constantly spawning Tanks and hordes of Infected(s).

Looks like the custom campaign just got updated. Here're my thoughts:

PROS

- Additional details and areas are a welcoming change.
- New spawn points for supplies on Chapter 2.
- Added lighting on some of the dark interior areas.
- Slightly altered setup for the finale which made more sense.

Dead City 2 (Official). Quality: 7/10, Difficulty: 7.5/10, Length: Very Long. Played On Expert.

I didn’t hate Dead City 2 (Official), but I also didn’t love it.

Some areas throughout the map are janky, unfinished, and unpolished.

Dead City 2 overall is not too difficult, despite its great length and there being lots of dark areas, Crescendos, Gauntlets, a pseudo-Finale Scavenge event on Chapter 4 (easily the most difficult part), and lots of Witches, Alarm Cars, Alarm Car-like unique explosives-laden military trucks, and explosive Half-Life 2 barrels and other props (which deal small amounts of damage to Survivors caught in their explosion radius) all throughout, as well as there being a few areas where early Tank fights can be very awkward...

...The relative overall difficulty of Dead City 2 is lowered due to the campaign being fairly generous with supplies (especially First Aid Kits, ammo, Tier 2 weapons, Magnums, and bombs). In particular, just before/during major scripted events, the map will typically stock you up with a full 4 First Aid Kits, ammo, Tier 2 weapons, and other supplies; thus making them far easier.

Chapter 4 is easily the hardest Chapter in Dead City 2, as it has an ending pseudo-Finale Moderate Scavenge-Tank (at 10 Cans)-Moderate Scavenge-Run To The Safe Room Abrams Tank event, where the difficulty spikes significantly, as a result of the Horde + Tank attacking.

Especially since this area is also littered in explosive Half-Life 2 barrels, and features 2 explosive military trucks; all of which should be shot immediately so as to avoid potential collateral damage and large hordes being summoned during the Tank fight later...

...The Finale of Dead City 2 is a very easy Defend-Tank-Defend-Tank-Wait And Then Run To The Escape Train in a locked-down subway station.

Just hold and kite the Tanks on the upper floor, and you should have no issues with this Finale, at least until the subway train escape vehicle arrives.

The ending is the only difficult thing about this Finale, as the escape train's arrival is delayed, and it moves and opens very slowly, which means that you’ll end up having to fight and survive as the infinite ending Horde + Tank attacks.

Overall, Dead City 2 is an interesting Custom Map, which could have been great if only the first two Chapters were shortened and it was polished, playtested, and worked on a bit more, as there’s a lot to like about it.

I like the overall industrial look of the city, very dark and gritty. The hordes were okay to me, so were the tanks. Maybe there could've been more contents in some of the maps, instead of just crossing the road and coming back out from the other side? Map looks cool to me anyway, would replay
