I get where you're coming from, the images in the promos are closeups. If we compare it to the cloudy effects that were added last update, this is visually the same size if not smaller (and a bit more transparent than those clouds). I dont doubt it was made near the time of TF2, especially with teleporters and such in the universe, but, for an effect, it just feels really- precise and complex, and may create a lot of visual noise on top of an already chaotic battlefield- Maybe I'll be proved wrong, and it really is a lovely effect, but I'm just on the fence about it.

The cube was invented in 1974, which is 2 years after the events of the robot war

The cube was invented close to TF2's lore timeline.

Its an interesting idea, but feels really noisy? I also can't imagine many hats that would go well with it, on top of not fitting the tf2 art style. It's a good effect for sure, but I don't think it's right for tf2.
