@James Thank you

I haven't updated it lately but it still should work fine. I've been traveling a lot so haven't had the time to check on it. I will keep updating it when things slow down for me
JamesS1009 23 Jul @ 3:05pm
Hey is this mod still active? I love it!
shadowleopard  [author] 19 Apr @ 7:11pm
Thank you @slessav !

love your mod

Thie pictures aren't actually showing a language map mode, since only Court Languages appear in the in-game version (therefore, only kingdom-level titles). What I did to take the pictures is use console commands to make certain titles independent and feed them all the counties that speak a certain language, then I renamed the title with the name of the language. So those pictures are in the normal Realm Mode.

Highlander seems t have been straight up removed by the author, not sure why. Weirdly enough, both culture submods that I originally supported have since been removed. Now it' just Legacy of Valyria's additional cultures that I support
X.Org 6 Mar @ 12:31am
How did you get the language map mode? The Highlander culture mod you linked is broken ):
shadowleopard  [author] 28 Feb @ 8:16pm
Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I will keep your suggestions in mind for future content updates
shadowleopard  [author] 28 Feb @ 8:15pm
The mod is up to date. Just so you guys know, it barely touches the base mod files, and the only thing I edit hasn't been touched in over a year. This mod should work fine even after new AGoT updates most of the time
carlosa_512 23 Feb @ 4:48pm
Does this need an update?
hamletsdead 20 Feb @ 12:57am
One of the my fave mods of all time for AGOT, thanks for keeping it updated!
emmaf628 8 Feb @ 8:15pm
Love this mod! Is there any way we could get a setting where Westeros has a common tongue throughout, but the rest of the world is on higher diversity? Was reading TWOIAF and noticed it mentions the Free Cities speaking different languages from each other, and I would love to be able to sort of replicate that in-game without also making Westeros have half a dozen tongues.
DJYXM 3 Feb @ 11:31pm
@shadowleopard Wow!Thanks for your work!
shadowleopard  [author] 3 Feb @ 9:27pm
@ 单机游戏魔 The Legacy of Valyria cultures have been added
shadowleopard  [author] 31 Jan @ 6:19pm
Ok, we are back, the base mod essos languages should be working again, they are on my version. I am taking a quick victory lap and then later tonight or tomorrow I'll download the essos expansion mod and try and integrate the cultures it adds
DJYXM 31 Jan @ 12:00am
@shadowleopard Thanks!Don't stress too much,I understand very well.Good!
shadowleopard  [author] 30 Jan @ 11:58pm
Ok, I finally figured out what has been busted with the mod for the last couple of months and why it hasn't been registering any of the Essos languages. This problem has been driving me nuts. It's too late today, but expect an update this weekend that fixes it, and yes I will probably add Essos Expansion languages as well. Thank you for your patience
DJYXM 20 Dec, 2024 @ 11:33pm
@shadowleopard could you make this to run both AGOT Essos Expansion's cultures?And I found maybe in original AGOT's Essos's cultures are lose effectiveness
shadowleopard  [author] 1 Dec, 2024 @ 10:32pm
@Solutos Lupus, thanks you for the kind words! I am going to investigate a way to make the system for court languages more "all-starts"-proof in the future. Otherwise, for now the only way would be for you to just manually control the various kings and change the court languages yourself
Solutos Lupus 19 Nov, 2024 @ 1:23am
@shadowleopard - still think this is one of the best mods going for AGOT - with regards to new bookmarks kingdoms etc. do eventually change over to their native languages but just wanted to see if there is a way I could get it to work for the start date? I'm playing with Aegons Conquest mod btw :steamthumbsup:
shadowleopard  [author] 7 Nov, 2024 @ 10:29pm
As for adding cultures, I don't really want to do that with this mod. It's simply not in the scope, I don't want to bundle additional languages with changing cultures and force people to have to choose between having both or none. If someone else wants to make a submod for it, like the old Highlander one, I'll support it. And if you know of any submods that add cultures you would like me to cover with my mod, let me know!
shadowleopard  [author] 7 Nov, 2024 @ 10:29pm
Thank you @Zacorin!

I've been a bit off my modding game because Roads to Power pushed my computer to its limits and made AGoT in particular not run at all. Once I've sorted that I'll be more on the ball.

In general, updates and submods adding more of the map will not break this mod. At worst it will simply fail to add languages to new cultures, and since I've got the most egregious regions when it comes to monolinguism covered (Westeros and the Free Cities), it should all be fine even in that case. I'll take a look at that other submod when I can.

I have modified the court languages, but I have likely missed a few of the existing kingdom or empire titles of the last couple of updates, but the AI is likely to change them to the appropriate language anyway as Zacorin said.
Zacorin 2 Nov, 2024 @ 1:47pm
I feel like answering these even tho im not the creator. So take what I say with a grain of salt. @shadowleopard feel free to correct me.

@Shazzer I dont think it needs a compatch just updates on the far eastern cultures in slaver's bay, dothraki etc. since all these cultures are in the game just not on the map so itll carry over.

@Solutos Lupus It does indeed effect court languages, tho if you are using a bookmark mod at all they might start with common and move over to their regional language when they can. Might just be a load order thing tho so putting this mod below any bookmarks might help.

@childofdragons As of now no it shouldnt

@ilikeswordz I also agree that all the Marchers all speaking stormish is a bit odd. A split with maybe the far western stormlands Marchers being considered part of the reach Marcher culture due to distance.
Also yeah any mention of Highlander should be removed as it isnt relevant.
ilikeswordz 26 Oct, 2024 @ 11:44am
Can you split Marcher between east and west? I like the idea of them having shared traditions, but I do think that the Reach Marchers would make sense speaking Reacher rather than Stormish. The Highlander submod appears to be no longer be available too.
ChildofDragons 23 Oct, 2024 @ 10:26am
Does this need an update?
Solutos Lupus 18 Oct, 2024 @ 11:08pm
Does this mod effect the court languages? Would be cool to have the realm split by court languages and cultures :steamthis:
Shazzer 13 Oct, 2024 @ 4:23pm
Would you consider making a compatch for the Essos submod once it's out?
Kayotik16 6 Sep, 2024 @ 8:27am
Ok no problem I start fresh
shadowleopard  [author] 5 Sep, 2024 @ 9:44pm
@Kayotic, it works only at game start, but I may be able to figure out a way to get it to fire mid-game in the next update
Kayotik16 5 Sep, 2024 @ 10:29am
Does this work mid play through or should you start new game
MK Black 21 Jul, 2024 @ 2:28pm
Bit dated innit
shadowleopard  [author] 16 Jun, 2024 @ 8:53pm
@emmaf628 that seems like a wonderful idea! I will likely include it whenever I act on those mod expansion plans.
emmaf628 27 May, 2024 @ 11:00am
Love this mod! Sort of combining your idea for Maesters to learn more languages and for specific chararacters to know reasonable ones, what if Maesters learned whatever language is spoken in the Reach? Since that's where the Citadel is. Just a suggestion, though!
shadowleopard  [author] 21 May, 2024 @ 2:13pm
There are no conflicts, it should be fine. I will update the version soon so it doesn't throw out a warning
ademonlikeyou 18 May, 2024 @ 2:26pm
Is this compatible with the current version of the game + Mod?
Siper17 2 Apr, 2024 @ 10:50pm
Would you be able to make a setting that gives south of the wall Westeros the common tongue, but keeps the different dialects in Essos?
Butch Bhaalspawn 25 Mar, 2024 @ 3:32pm
Love this mod. Westeros alone is freaking huge and it would be odd for all of them to speak one language, even as an empire. Besides, I like the idea of having to work a little bit to communicate with fellow rulers and vassals. That's just good diplomacy :)
shadowleopard  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 4:35pm
Yeah because it operates via game rule it can only be done at game start. In the future I may try to add a way to make it so this works for existing saves as well if possible
Ultima Ratio Ecate II 1 Mar, 2024 @ 9:57am
i imagine it is not save compatibile nd you need a fresh start for it to work correct? nice mod anyway bravo great stuff sorely needed given the barren variety of base acok
shadowleopard  [author] 21 Feb, 2024 @ 10:36am
@Milsuglione thank you!

@alchemistre I just updated it again. If it's still giving you the version warning, you may have to manually download the mod by unsubscribing and resubscribing
alchemistre 19 Feb, 2024 @ 1:27pm
Thank you for the update! This is one of my must have mods for realism. Just a heads up that the version seems to have reverted, as although it's obviously up to date it's giving the warning sign.
Milsugione 19 Feb, 2024 @ 4:43am
nice update !:steamhappy:
shadowleopard  [author] 19 Feb, 2024 @ 12:21am
Bastard Valyrian is the "official" name of the Free Cities variant. It's what Daenerys calls it. I might change it in the future but for now I'm keeping it.

As for the "Old" and "Common", it has to do with the base mod. A few updates ago, they replaced the culture screen localization for "Language" and "Heritage" from vanilla with ""Blood" and "Tongue" respectively. So while it used to be "Old Tongue language", after that change it became "Old Tongue Tongue", which obviously doesn't work. That's why the language is now just "Old", and I matched that for the various tongues I added like Norther and Free.
TheDoctorFat 18 Feb, 2024 @ 10:17pm
I was thinking maybe instead of "Bastard Valyrian" it could be "Essosi Valyrian" or maybe "Low Valyrian". Bastard Valyrian feels more like an insult than anything.
Also for some reason "Old Tongue" is showing up as just "Old", same for Northern Tongue
shadowleopard  [author] 18 Feb, 2024 @ 10:11am
@Milsuglione That's a good idea.

Right now my plan is to have it be "Bastard Valyrian" for the lowest diversity setting, a North/South Valyrian split for the medium setting, and then all the dialects you mentioned for the highest diversity setting.

I should get it done later today, tomorrow at the latest.
Milsugione 17 Feb, 2024 @ 11:13pm
each of the free cities has its own dialect of valyrian, would be neat to have that if its not too much work ( Lysene (Lys), Myrish (Myr), Pentoshi (Pentos), Tyroshi (Tyrosh)
shadowleopard  [author] 17 Feb, 2024 @ 8:10pm
I have not yet added Essos languages, but the mod should still work fine until I do, Essos will just speak 100% Valyrian
Flavored Abortion 17 Feb, 2024 @ 12:41pm
does this mod also include the essos languages, i know it updated yesterday but just wondering if they were in here before that!
shadowleopard  [author] 30 Sep, 2023 @ 3:55pm
@Alex It's up to date
Milsugione 27 Sep, 2023 @ 1:27am
update?
shadowleopard  [author] 23 Jul, 2023 @ 8:24am
@Corfixen Thank you!
