Please show your support in that thread so hopefully data file mods can be fixed for the future!
It would be fantastic if this could be fixed. Its a great idea of a mod
It's realy a pity the devs won't just implement this change already.. both the Spanish and Byzantines were Mediterranean civilizations, they have nothing to do with Middle East or Northen EU styles..

Then verify that the "Byzantines & Spanish with Italian Architecture [AoF]" file exists. If not, there was a download problem and you will need to unsubscribe and subscribe again.
If you see the mod file but it did not install, you can manually install the mod by first opening it with your favorite archiving program (i.e. WinRAR, WinZip, etc.). Open the "Data" folder you now see, and extract "empires2_x2_p1.dat" to your AoE2HD Data folder:
\Steam\SteamApps\common\Age2HD\Data
Then launch the game and see if it works!
