The Revenant unit is causing massive frame drops when the game tries to render it. This has happened with some other custom units from some other mods. Solution unknown.

Revenant seems bugged at the moment. It's not letting me collect souls anymore, though I can recruit skeletons in my cities.

Seems like this mod is broken a little with recent changes to undead. You can recruit the new skeletons in your cities when you get this tome and I imagine other stuff is likely broken too if it references the old soul systems. Would greatly appreciate a fix from the original author or a third party. IIRC a few other soul/undead related tomes had this issue so I imagine it'd need the same fix that other authors have done.

Really looking forward to the Tome of the Great Wolf. Trying to play some sort of Lycanthrope race and need more wolf based tomes to go with it.

@Lykouros, Tome of the Great Wolf is still WIP, I have some bugs to fix and currently my job doesn't give me too much free time to work on the mod.

Did a playthrough where I could actually have a faction utilize more options for ice related tomes, units, and spells with this mod. Definitely felt complete with this tome along with scaling research costs with it so every faction didn't end up with all the tomes centered around ice/arctic/frozen and works on brutal difficulty while generally balanced in strength compared to other tomes/strategies.

hey, love your mod and im myself making one too, i just noticed that you're also making a wolf themed tome which is what im also covering (fenrir), mine will focus on buffing animals, summoning wolves and an animal race transformation (no visual just the tag). if possible i would like to discuss so we don't make redundant content.
Honestly, i would have dropped it but i commissionned, paid & received the art for the tome so i would feel bad if i were to drop it now.

Revenant is a cool name because it keep it short.

I quite like your new icon for the book, the skull reflect on the ice surface to mix the death + cold theme is very fitting

For the Revenant unit, a 3 turn aoe (3 tile radius is huge) is a little overtuned imo. Either reduce its radius to 1 tile, lower the chance down from 90% base, or make it a full action ability. As it is you can run in and aoe taunt most of their army ( or at the very least a large chunk) then place an invuln spell on it or something like that.

Otherwise looks like a good addition.

Thank you for making Revenant a 3 Unit, Araragi.

I fixed the issue by putting your mod at the top of the load order, I used to have 'Alt Wightborn' Mod installed but not anymore. I do still have 'Major Tranformations Higher Priority' Mod installed and that Mod is working fine with your Mod. My own 'Wightborn Resurgence' Mod is also working fine with your Mod too. It's all about load order in my opinion.

Hey guys, yeah I will make the revenant a 3 unit and probably change his name to revenant champions.

Also @Grium and @Farsight are you guys using any other mod that changes unit types or modify transformations?
The revenant is coded in the mod tools as a racial unit so it could be a bug caused with another mod that makes him not receive the bonuses from transformations.

I love the Ice tomes!

I do believe making the revenant into racial unit to benefit from the minor and major transformations. Making it optional for the unit to be undead with wightborn.

To also balance the unit, reducing the aoe radius would be good, to have more thought in the positioning of the unit in battle. As well as it being a 2 model unit allowing it to suffer from attrition.

I would have preferred the revenant not be undead since anyone going that far into dark can easily make all their race units undead while dark is already really starved for people who want to use dark but don't want to actually be necromancers.

I have to agree with Juz here, Revenant being a single entity unit is simply too strong. It would be more balanced if Revenant has 3 entities. Beside, we could always buff him into 2 entities with Supergrowth later so he's still going to be strong late game.

I want to thank you so much for making lich rituals work on battle mage "nukes". So few things enhance those, rather cool, abilities that after enchants come in battlemages just end up being an inferior archer that targets resistance. I love then expanding of the ice theme but i would use this tome for a simple +2 frost damage because it just doesnt exist anywhere else.

Thank you for your reply, Araragi. I putted your mod priority at the top and now Revenant has bonuses from both major and minor racial tranformations.

After using Revenant with Dark Knight and Necromancer, now I much prefer it over the Reaper. The Tank, DPS and Healer Trinity is very strong. In fact, Revenant is now my favorite Shield Unit in the game! The 110 Souls cost does justify his power.

@Farsight, the 110 souls is the standart in-game price for a T4 souls summon, it was supposed to be a bit expensive to kind of balance his power. Also it should count as a racial unit, when I tested the mod I checked and made sure that it received correctly the bonuses from both major and minor race transformations, it could be a bug if it doesn't count as one in your playthrough. I will make a double check though.

@Juz, thank you for your feedback! I will wait a bit until the end of the weekend to gather more responses and then make a decision towards further changing the unit. Currently I am thinking of making the skill effect diminish with the distance from the unit, so enemies right beside the revenant are more likely to be taunted than enemies that are caught in the edge.

@Shade those are good ideas, some of them are inline with what I had in mind for the third tome, will definitely keep some notes about them.

@Zarathustra, yeah was planning to add a lore description and updating the tome picture too, it will likely come in a patch after the weekend.

Holy motley the Revenant seems expensive but stupid good.

It has a Single model so it doesn't suffer any attrition from losing health, IMO it should probably be a 2 or 3 model unit.

It's warcry ability is Super good, the Radius is 3 and has a 90% chance to Taunt, plus it deals damage. I like the idea but reducing the AOE by 1 would go a long way to making it more balanced. The Damage is okay, could be lower and a lower Taunt chance as well, 90% on something with such a large AOE is insanely strong, I can't think of any ability in the base game that comes close to how disruptive this is in combat.

After using Revenant, here is my feedback:

1. At 110 Souls, it's very expensive for a Tier 4 Unit, I'd rather save that for a Reaper which is 150 Souls.
2. Revenant is not a racial unit unlike Warbreed or Tyrant Knight so it does not benefit from any major and minor racial transformation.

My suggestion:

Make Revenant a racial unit so it can benefits from Major and Minor Racial Transformation. Being a racial unit, it will cost Gold instead of Soul. This also solved the problem of Revenant competing with Reaper for Souls. Now you can have Revenant for Gold upkeep and Reaper for Mana upkeep, making it viable to maintain both in your army.
